In November of 2016, Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc., conducted an intensive pedestrian cultural resources survey of a tract of land in eastern Harris County, Texas. The project involves a proposed expansion and improvements to an existing park facility in far east Harris County, Texas, which covers a total area of roughly 70 acres. The project area is bounded to the south by Highway 225, to the east by Cary Bayou, to the west by a railroad line and Cary Cedar Bayou Road.

(RKEI) contracted with K Friese & Associates (CLIENT) to monitor the installation of a San Antonio Water System (SAWS) waterline along Cunningham Avenue (Ave.), between Broadway Street (St.) and N. Pine St., along the northern fence line of Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston (JBSA-FSH) and the old Playland Park property. SAWS plans to install waterlines along four distinct locations surrounding JBSA-FSH. Of the four proposed waterlines, only one waterline has the potential of impacting a recorded archaeological site. The proposed 7.6-mile water pipeline will consist of 4,357-feet of new 72-inch-diameter pipeline and 35,843-feet of new 24-inch-diamater pipeline in order to connect an existing 60-inch-diameter pipeline in McKinney, Texas, to an existing connection to the pump station Princeton, Texas. The Waterstone tract consists of a series of undeveloped agricultural fields located roughly midway between Kyle and San Marcos in southeastern Hays County, Texas. The undertaking consists of a 3-D seismic exploration for petrochemical resources within University lands in Loving, Ward, and Winkler Counties, Texas. Geophones will be laid along receiver lines by crews using ATVs, while vibroseis trucks will travel along source lines. No drilling or grubbing is proposed. Archaeological monitoring of repairs to the historic Gan’s Dam, previously recorded as one historic component of archaeological site (41WM17), was conducted October 2-12, 2013 at the Berry Springs Preserve in Williamson County, Texas. Previous storm damage caused the dam to fail and impounded pond waters pushed the surface portion of the historic dam downstream. Williamson County Parks Department contracted with a construction firm to make repairs to the dam.
