This paper seeks to explain the manner in which French-speaking European States, namely France, Switzerland, and Belgium, treat asylum seekers. To do so, we will first examine, the philosophical underpinnings of European conceptions of the state, of personhood, and of human rights. In doing so, we move to understand cultural attitudes towards asylum seekers through European philosophers such as Rousseau and Kant. The second aspect, the legal aspect, will explain the manner through which the aforementioned philosophies are reflected through governance in each of the states. Bodies In Shame: Writing Trauma And Affective Unsettlement In Post-Genocide Rwanda Fiction, Cole A. Carvour

This thesis analyzes Boubacar Boris Diop’s Murambi, le livre des ossements and Véronique Tadjo’s L’Ombre d’Imana: voyages jusqu’au bout du Rwanda. I argue that both authors write trauma by employing both a dominant realist style and the trauma aesthetic with attention to the embodied experiences of genocide victims and survivors in both styles. In doing so, each author contributes to impeding indifference surrounding the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Furthermore, I assert that one effect of writing trauma is that of affective unsettlement or affective travel, or the registering of psychic and physical shame and other related affective responses in the …

The focus of this present study is to understand the factors that influence Moroccan millennial employees to stay at or to leave their organizations. To reach this purpose, the study followed a qualitative phenomenological research design, using interviews as a data collection type. Interviews were conducted with ten Moroccan millennials who have worked or still work in a private organization based in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco. Findings of this study discovered five factors that influenced Moroccan millennials to stay, including links with co-workers, good leadership style, responsibilities and tasks, training opportunities, and career advancement. Early in 1562, France was experiencing a state of high religious tension between Protestants and Catholics that would precipitate the outbreak of the Religious Wars on March 1. A week before, Bernard Palissy, a Huguenot potter, wrote a letter to his Catholic patron from prison inBordeaux where he was being held on charges associated with an iconoclastic incident in his home city of Saintes. This letter would later be published as a dedication letter for the pamphlet Architecture et Ordonnance, which featured the description of a grotto commissioned by Anne de Montmorency, Palissy’s patron, seven years earlier. Figures of vulnerability abound in contemporary francophone novels. Be it children soldiers, Black women in Monenembo and Kourouma's fictions, abused children or prostitution in Marie NDiaye, Fiston Mwanza and Fatou Diome's novels, the vulnerable subject, far from undergoing torments of a decadent and miserable life due to a situation of lack, often shows or hides a strength that often sharpens on contact with violence. Fatou Diome uses silence and writing to express the character's resistance to violence. This study looks at vulnerability in its full complexity through an analysis at the interstice of sociology and rhetoric of the book Genealogie d'une banalite by Sinzo Aanza. The inhabitants of the poor neighbourhood of the Bronx decide to overcome their misery by digging under their dwellings, in search of copper to sell to the Chinese. This access to money brings them to relish in certain pleasures. The characters live in an enclosed environment that, through the instability of their representation, becomes the space of multiple enigmas: social, sexual and emotional. This article focuses on the topic of vulnerability and the ambivalence of the heroine's strategies of resistance in Marie NDiaye's novel Rosie Carpe. The analysis of Rosie's detachment, oblivion and fantasy demonstrates how memory, consciousness and imagination can become areas of resistance in front of an unbearable reality. As a matter of fact, Rosie proposes an inner reconfiguration of the reality which, by its oversights and alterations, gives her the possibility to escape suffering, obligation and sin. The article analyzes the (re)configuration of space towards female resistance in Cette fille-là by Marssa Bey and La voyeuse interdite by Nina Bouraoui. The two authors portray deviant female characters who refuse to be caught up in the social enclave governed by patriarchal law. In these works, the assertion of identity is interdependent on the unfolding of space which opts for denouncing or liberating the voice, the body and the feminine individuality. By convening the imagination along with the female memory, these marginal identities engage in bending the confinement and freeing the speech. Clothed in presumed fragility and weakness, this …
