The recent political history of Cameroon has been marked by an important civil disobedience movement (operation town) which almost brought down the State. Although this period of crisis has often been analysed, it must be mentioned that such analysis has not sufficiently highlighted the fact that “the operation ghost town” was strongly reported and most times promoted by the print media notably: Challenge Hebdo, Le Messager and La Nouvelle Expression. Présence Francophone: Revue internationale de langue et de littérature

This article uses semi-directive interviews of a dozen media actors in Burkina Faso to examine the transformations of print journalism in the digital age. It reveals that digital technology does not fundamentally change the structure of the field. It rather keeps it in a sort of “in-between” journalism where traditional media routines combine with an appropriation of innovative practices both in the production of information and in its dissemination. That takes place in spite of relative contained economic crisis that makes this hybrid model possible.

Usages De L’Application Mobile Whatsapp Et Mutations Radiophoniques En Afrique, Henri Assogba

Présence Francophone: Revue internationale de langue et de littérature

Several radio stations on the African continent have been using or experimenting in recent years with the WhatsApp mobile application to gather and disseminate information. Knowing that voice exchange functionalities without the costs associated with conventional telephony are among those preferred by WhatsApp users in Africa, this study analyzes these uses of WhatsApp in relation to changes in the production and dissemination of radio content. The study is an illustration of the hybridization of the media system and shows that “traditional” mobile telephony is still popular with listeners in their on-air interventions.

Fact-checking has become an increasingly important practice, especially with the birth of the internet and social media. In Tunisia, the context of the 2019 presidential and legislative elections saw the birth of the Tunisia Check News platform managed by the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication, with the collaboration of the public media. In this article, we present the context of the emergence of this platform within the community of Tunisian journalists. The birth and expansion of technology often bring about the death of ancient practices. This article asks whether the dynamics of information and communication technologies, which lead to the upheaval of different lifestyles, constitute an opportunity or a threat to Cameroon’s journalistic profession. It articulates the main declinations that explain the integration or not of ICTs in the business models of Cameroonian media.

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a highly valued and highly underutilized program designed to offer international students an opportunity to work in the U.S. and train in their field of study. This qualitative study collected and analyzed the narratives of three alumni of a Midwest university who completed OPT in the manufacturing engineering field. Four themes were identified in the narratives. These themes were inextricable to the premise that OPT is a deeply appreciated opportunity for F-1 students. The story, titled “Yeux de lune décroissante”, is about a French orphan boy named Théodore who lives in a beautiful rural town called Indre. He lives with his grandmother, who is very loving to everyone in the village. Théodore lets his heart guide him in everything he does, which is why he is considered a special boy who is different from others because of his transcendent, sensitive heart. He meets a couple of strangers who help him accept and understand his nature and heal from his inner suffering with their love. They form a bond that lasts beyond a lifetime.

The “gypsy” figure has been popular in popular culture for hundreds of years – certainly since the 1600s. The figure can embody wanderlust, difference, bold sexuality, freedom, danger, and criminality. In 19th-century France, the figure’s trendiness was apparent in literature. Writers such as Victor Hugo, George Sand, Charles Nodier, and Prosper Mérimée profited from using these figures in writing. Most criticism of these works focuses on the origins of the tales or critical analyses of the narratives themselves.
