Ecstasy, Confession, Image, And Silence In Buber, Bergman, And Godard, Karl E. Toepfer

This essay discusses the contrasting attitudes toward ecstatic experience as described in Martin Buber's book Ekstatische Konfessionen (1909). Ingmar Bergman's film Persona (1966), and Jean-Luc Godard's film Weekend (1967). The attitude toward ecstasy depends heavily on the use of language and confidence in language to represent ecstatic experience. Buber, Bergman. and Godard share little, if any, perception on the relation between language, speech, and ecstasy.

COVID-19 created a support problem for public universities across the United States and required that IT departments and professionals alter how they performed in 2020, and perhaps beyond. IT professionals tasked with safeguarding large amounts of data were required to shift to a teleworking posture to continue offering a similar level of service as previously expected. In addition to the technological shift that organizations experienced because of COVID-19, leadership challenges also impacted IT departments across the United States. Scholarly Horizons: University of Minnesota, Morris Undergraduate Journal

West-African film scholar Boukary Sawadogo identifies the 1990s as a period of transition in West-African Francophone cinema: Whereas earlier films from the region tend to deal broadly with socioeconomic themes relevant to the African continent at large, newer productions generally emphasize local and personal concerns, often addressing social issues from the starting point of a marginalized individual. In this paper, I explore two Burkinabe films, Yaaba (Idrissa Ouédraogo, 1989) and Kounandi (Apolline Traoré, 2004), in relation to Sawadogo’s analytic framework of marginality. This thesis is a literary translation of French author Marion Guillot’s 2018 novel C’est moi. The work tells the story of a journey of self-discovery gone wrong. The unnamed narrator feels as if she and Tristan, her unemployed boyfriend, are slowly drifting apart as they put up with the daily domestic drudgery of their Parisian lives. They don’t really get out anymore and they never see anyone except Tristan’s only friend, Charlin, someone who the narrator doesn’t particularly care for. According to a survey, the healthcare industry is one of the least cloud-adopting industries. The low adoption reflects the healthcare industry's ongoing concerns about the security of the cloud. Business applications, according to another survey, are among the most vulnerable components of business information systems. Many risk assessment frameworks available today, particularly for health information applications, require significant customization before they can be used. This study created a new framework to assess cloud risks specifically for their health information applications, utilizing data-driven risk assessment methodologies to avoid surveys, interviews, and meetings for data collection. What is a Francophone text? Every scholar of French-language literatures is confronted with this question which involves two issues: legitimization and specification. The reflection of the question of legitimization emerges from the need to come out of the shadow of metropolitan French literature; examining the question of specification is necessary because, although a “Francophone text” may leave its readers curious, bewildered, suspicious or even contemptuous, it must be regarded and valued as a literary work whose cogs and milestones must be correctly assessed. This article examines the relationship between invention and reality in Boubacar Boris Diop’s novel, Kaveena (2006). The author intertwines the postcolonial story of a fictional African country with that of the real history of the continent. The fictional city of Maren and the region of Nimba are described in relation to Cameroun, Rwanda and Sierra Leone, among other concrete locations. Invented characters and those known by the reader (Patrice Lumumba, Idi Amin, etc.) both occupy space in the text. Forty years ago, the francophone literatures of Africa and the Caribbean were still taught as “emerging” literatures having allegedly entered the international literary scene with the Negritude movement. Since then, critical perspectives have evolved, considerably modifying this way of presenting the history of francophone literatures of the South. Today it is rather the history of a constant questioning of the various pernicious boundaries drawn since colonial times, a history of constantly renewed inventiveness. After World War I, writing by France’s colonial subjects began disrupting the French literary field. Among the first in this early literary series, Force-Bonté (1926) by Bakary Diallo was tainted from the start because it was associated with Lucie Cousturier. It was speculated/surmised she was Diallo’s “godmother” or ghost-writer, since she was known for having taught French to the Senegalese soldiers billeted near her home during the war.
