Nations are throughout the entire globe continuously confronting the problem of potable water shortage. Recently, it has been thought that using solar energy to desalinate brackish water offers a practical answer to the world's water crises. The output of these stills, is meager, and academics haven't done much to boost it in any way. Solar distillers have been proposed as an efficient method to produce potable water. In recent years, saltwater has produced drinking water by various ways. The efficiency of a solar distiller is significantly influenced by various factors, most important factor of them is the absorber surface. In …

Researchers have recently moved on in their studies to find a solution to prevent or reduce this problem. There have been directions taken by researchers to solve the problem, including, replacing fossil fuels with environmentally friendly types or by combining two or more types of fuel. This is by modifying fuel injection systems as appears in the PCCI, RCCI, or HCCI systems, or working to integrate the two trends by using new injection systems and burning alternative fuels with fossil fuels. Therefore, the trend has good results on the specific consumption of fuel, raising thermal efficiency, and working to reduce …

The objective of the present paper is to investigate experimentally the flame characteristics utilizing different secondary air inlet direction for different primary air swirl numbers and equivalence fuel-air ratios. In this study, an experimental test rig was carried out to investigate the flame temperature and emission behavior with flame length at the equivalence fuel-air ratios taken0.96, 0.80, 0.70, and 0.60, and swirl vane angles were varied as 20, 30, 45, and 60° to generate different swirl numbers of 0.26, 0.416, 0.71 and 1.23, respectively. In addition to the introduction of secondary air in test combustor, whereas the primary air and …

Journal of Engineering Research
Abstract- Architectural heritage is a powerful image of the community's identity and is only a natural result of human interaction with the surrounding environment. heritage–based -architectural articulations are a way to achieve human comfort in certain conditions and environments. This paper discusses the relationship between architectural heritage and community identity.
It also analyses the different parameters of vernacular articulations and enhanced vernacular articulations that control indoor human thermal comfort. In addition, the paper focuses on the factors affecting these articulations such as airflow, wind, temperature regulation, and light control. the results of this analytical process indicate how design configurations of …

Biophilic Urbanism As A Tool To Conserve Urban Waterfront Of Submerged Heritage Cities, Fatma Ahmed Alashwah, Ayman Abdel Tawab Professor, Ingy Eldarwish Professor, Wesam Mehanna
Journal of Engineering Research
The Urban waterfronts of submerged heritage cities hold significant cultural and natural value that necessitates preservation. However, these sites suffer from a disconnection between nature and culture in heritage conservation practices, negatively impacting heritage sites, ecosystems, and human well-being. Biophilic urbanism offers a valuable tool to address this gap, creating healthier cities. This paper explores how to implement biophilic urbanism elements in conserving urban waterfronts of submerged heritage cities. Through a comprehensive literature review, the study discusses the gap between heritage and nature in conservation practices and explores the perception of biophilic urbanism elements in conserving the urban waterfront of …

The Effect Of An Existing Tunnel And A Newly Excavated Tunnel On Ground Loss Beneath Sand Slope-3d Numerical Study, Ashraf Nazir, Ahmed Nasr, Asmaa Saeed
Journal of Engineering Research
Abstract- Most researchers perform their numerical models for tunnels by modeling perfectly horizontal ground surfaces above the tunnels. The prediction of surface settlement of a sandy slope due to the interaction mechanism between the slope and the tunnels is one of the critical problems in urban areas. As a result, in this work, a numerical analysis using PLAXIS 3D TUNNEL has been performed to investigate the effect of tunnel excavation on the deformation of a shallow sandy slope, and empirically by the Herzog method. The study also assesses the influence of parameters on slope deformation that have not been …

Opportunities And Challenges Of Generative Ai In Construction Industry: Focusing On Adoption Of Text-Based Models, Prashnna Ghimire, Kyungki Kim, Manoj Acharya
Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction: Faculty Publications
In the last decade, despite rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) transforming many industry practices, construction largely lags in adoption. Recently, the emergence and rapid adoption of advanced large language models (LLMs) like OpenAI’s GPT, Google’s PaLM, and Meta’s Llama have shown great potential and sparked considerable global interest. However, the current surge lacks a study investigating the opportunities and challenges of implementing Generative AI (GenAI) in the construction sector, creating a critical knowledge gap for researchers and practitioners. This underlines the necessity to explore the prospects and complexities of GenAI integration. Bridging this gap is fundamental to optimizing GenAI’s …

Religious Tourism Attractions At Debre Aron Rock-Hewn Church, Meket District, Northern Ethiopia, Tsegaye Ebabey Demissie
International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage
Ethiopia, which has a diverse sacred cultural heritage, has enormous fortunes as far as religious tourism is concerned. Its ancient Christianity has left numerous religious and historical legacies, ranging from architecturally sophisticated sacred monuments to living religious practices. However, the development of these legacies for religious tourism is hindered mainly due to a lack of research and consideration by tourism developers. This study aims to investigate the potential tourism value of Debre Aron Monastery, which is one of the most overlooked religious sites in northern Ethiopia. To this end, the study’s data, which are analysed qualitatively, were collected through literature …

International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage
The term ‘religious tourism’ refers to travel that is primarily inspired by spiritual beliefs (Smith, 2012). It serves as one of humanity’s oldest religious practices as well as one of the earliest examples of tourism (Timothy, 2011). Due in the main to the numerous sacred places that are dispersed throughout its vast geographic area, India, which is known for its rich heritage and culture, has attracted attention from throughout the world (Eck, 2011; Singh, 2013). As a result, it has become a well-known location for religious tourism. During the past ten years, this specific type of tourism has seen a …

This paper demonstrates the value of a framework for processing data on body acceleration as a uniquely valuable tool for diagnosing diseases that affect gait early. As a case study, we used this model to identify individuals with peripheral artery disease (PAD) and distinguish them from those without PAD. The framework uses acceleration data extracted from anatomical reflective markers placed in different body locations to train the diagnostic models and a wearable accelerometer carried at the waist for validation. Reflective marker data have been used for decades in studies evaluating and monitoring human gait. They are widely available for many …

Zinc And Bismuth Additives' Impacts On The Physical Properties Of Lead-Free Alloys Used In Electronic Appliances, Hesham Elzanaty, Rizk Mostafa Shalaby
Mansoura Engineering Journal
The goal of the current analysis was to analytically inspect how the addition of zinc and bismuth would alter the binary structure of the lead-free solder Sn-5Sb. Binary arrangement results have been stretched to the ternary arrangements Sn–5Sb–XBi or XZn (0 ≤ X ≤ 4wt.%) solder that were composed through rapid solidification processing (RSP) using the melt–spun method. The created phases were revealed through metallographic study of the formed alloys using XRD. High elastic modulus E = 32.5 GPa and good electrical resistivity = 26x10-8 .m are two characteristics of binary Sn-Sb doped with Bi. The alloy Sn–5Sb–4Zn owns the …
