Significantly, in the last decade, the majority of American citizens have acquired smartphone technology, which allows them to document and broadcast police behavior on a scale never before seen. In recent decades, scholarly interest on immigration and crime has been on the rise. This increase in interest has even recently produced an academic consensus on the structural-level relationship between immigration and crime: on average, changes in immigration levels do not disproportionately increase crime rates. However, what is less explored in the literature is the individual-level relationship between immigration and criminal victimization, and specifically, the role played by criminological variables among generations of immigrant ethnic groups and their victimization experiences.

An increasing portion of police service resources are being dedicated to interactions involving persons with mental illness (PMI). As a result, Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Teams (MCT) comprised of mental health professionals have been recently implemented to assist police officers in more efficiently handling police calls for service involving PMI. The current ethnographic study used data collected through researcher ride-alongs with police officers at a mid-sized police service in Ontario to assess how police officers interact with and perceive MCTs. Tens of thousands of street-involved youth in Canada live in various forms of precarious housing – living outside on the streets, in youth shelters, couch surfing, and so on. Research into the needs of street youth often employs a “top-down” approach, relying on health researchers as experts on their needs as opposed to directly engaging the sentiments of the youth themselves. This research project examines the functioning of one specific serial murderer fandom community present online. Using ethnographic content analysis, the fandom was shown to undergo the creation, reinforcement and subversion of its own moral boundaries, undertake strategies of identity management in relation to their fan identity, and undergo emotion work to cope with the realities of serial murderers.

The external and institutional stressors that correctional officers face while performing their duties, such as managing a demanding workload, staffing shortages, and monitoring potentially dangerous inmates, have received some attention in the literature. However, researchers have not examined correctional officers’ perceptions of how others view their role and professional identity—whether prisoners, their families, or members of the general public—and how these perceptions are believed to influence an officer’s perspective of their work and their well-being. This study sought to examine the factors that influenced a high school student’s educational aspirations. This study used data collected by the High School Longitudinal Study (HSLS) 2009-2013 to examine how a student’s engagement, interest, attitudes toward math teacher, counselors helping with college materials, and meeting with a counselor influence a student’s educational aspirations. The findings suggest that student engagement, student interest and meeting with a counselor were significant predictors of higher educational aspirations even after controlling for being white, female, academic track, and family income. The purpose of this study was to assess the extent to which community colleges have implemented major post-Virginia Tech campus safety recommendations. In addition to gaining a comprehensive overview of the safety policies and practices in place, this study assessed if campus safety policy implementation levels at the community colleges correlated with institutional characteristics, and the internal and external forces that helped drive the implementation of these policies. การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาการบังคับใช้กฎหมายมาตรการสำหรับการเผยแพร่เพลงลิขสิทธิ์อย่างเหมาะสม และการลดปัญหาการเผยแพร่เพลงลิขสิทธิ์ในร้านอาหาร - ร้านกาแฟ โดยใช้วิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพเก็บข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกจากกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 2 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ ผู้ประกอบการร้านอาหาร - ร้านกาแฟในกรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวน 9 คน และเจ้าหน้าที่ในกระบวนการยุติธรรม ประกอบด้วยเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจในกรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวน 3 คน และผู้พิพากษาศาลทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาและการค้าระหว่างประเทศกลาง จำนวน 1 คน การสุ่มตัวอย่างใช้แบบที่มีลักษณะเฉพาะเจาะจง (purposive sampling) และการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบลูกโซ่ (snowball sampling) โดยใช้วิธีการพรรณนาข้อมูลร่วมกับการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาข้อมูลที่ได้จากการสัมภาษณ์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า 1) ปัญหาด้านการบังคับใช้กฎหมายที่สำคัญคือ การเลือกปฏิบัติในการตรวจสอบการเผยแพร่เพลง รวมไปถึงการแสวงหาผลประโยชน์แอบแฝงของผู้รับมอบอำนาจ ประกอบกับผู้ประกอบการส่วนใหญ่มีความรู้ในการเผยแพร่เพลงลิขสิทธิ์อยู่ในระดับน้อย 2) มาตรการที่เหมาะสมสำหรับการเผยแพร่เพลงลิขสิทธิ์คือ การกำหนดบทบาทการใช้อำนาจของผู้รับมอบอำนาจให้ชัดเจนเพื่อป้องกันการแสวงหาผลประโยชน์แอบแฝง และระบุรายละเอียดในข้อกฎหมายเกี่ยวกับข้อยกเว้นการละเมิดลิขสิทธิ์ให้ชัดเจน โดยยึดผลประโยชน์ของเจ้าของผลงาน และการปกป้องคุ้มครองผลงานลิขสิทธิ์ 3) แนวทางการลดปัญหาและข้อเสนอแนะจากการศึกษานี้คือ การให้ความรู้ความเข้าใจในเรื่องกฎหมายลิขสิทธิ์และการเผยแพร่เพลงลิขสิทธิ์แก่ประชาชน เพื่อพัฒนาความรู้ความเข้าใจและทัศนคติที่ดีต่อลิขสิทธิ์ในประเทศไทยต่อไป

การศึกษาเรื่องการกลับใจของผู้พ้นโทษในบ้านกึ่งวิถีแนวคริสต์ ศึกษากรณีบ้านกึ่งวิถีบ้านพระพร ของมูลนิธิพันธกิจเรือนจำคริสเตียน มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดและรูปแบบการดำเนินกระบวนการของบ้านกึ่งวิถีบ้านพระพร กระบวนการกลับใจที่เกิดขึ้นกับผู้พ้นโทษที่สมัครใจเข้าร่วมในบ้านกึ่งวิถีบ้านพระพร และแนวทางในการพัฒนาบทบาทของภาคประชาสังคมในรูปแบบของบ้านกึ่งวิถี ที่นำเอาหลักคำสอนในพระคริสตธรรมคัมภีร์มาปรับใช้ช่วยเหลือผู้พ้นโทษที่มีความแตกต่างหลากหลายให้กลับสู่สังคม โดยใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลด้วยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก และนำข้อมูลที่ได้มาวิเคราะห์เพื่ออธิบายประสบการณ์การกลับใจของผู้พ้นโทษและการดำเนินการในบ้านกึ่งวิถีแนวคริสต์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า (1) การดำเนินงานของบ้านพระพรมีการดูแลสมาชิกอย่างเป็นระบบ กิจกรรมต่างๆส่งเสริมระเบียบวินัยและความรับผิดชอบของสมาชิก ดูแลปัจจัยพื้นฐาน ฝึกอาชีพเสริม และมีชั้นเรียนเพื่อพัฒนาความรู้ทางพระคัมภีร์ นอกจากนี้ ยังมีกระบวนการจัดการกับอารมณ์และพฤติกรรมติดตัวของสมาชิกให้เป็นไปในทางที่ดีขึ้น มีคริสตจักรพระพรเป็นศูนย์กลางประสานงานกับผู้พ้นโทษและเป็นสถานที่ที่สมาชิกเก่าและใหม่สามารถกลับมารวมตัวกันได้ ซึ่งทำให้เกิดพันธะทางสังคมที่ต่อเนื่องช่วยในการสอดส่องดูแลพฤติกรรมอย่างไม่เป็นทางการเมื่อกลับสู่สังคม (2) กระบวนการกลับใจของสมาชิกในบ้านพระพร พบว่าสมาชิกมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงในจิตใจคือตัดสินใจที่จะละทิ้งการกระทำผิดและตั้งใจดำเนินชีวิตตามแบบอย่างของพระเยซูคริสต์เริ่มตั้งแต่ในเรือนจำ และมีสมาชิกบางคนเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงนี้เมื่อได้รับการฝึกฝนในบ้านพระพรแล้ว การเปลี่ยนแปลงเกิดทั้งด้านพฤติกรรม ด้านอัตมโนทัศน์ และด้านจิตวิญญาณส่งผลให้สมาชิกมีมุมมองใหม่ต่อตนเองและผู้อื่นในทางที่ดีขึ้น ช่วยให้พวกเขาดำเนินชีวิตในช่วงเปลี่ยนผ่าน (Transitional Period) จากเรือนจำไปสู่สังคมภายนอกได้อย่างเข้มแข็ง (3) ควรมีการขยายแนวคิดในการส่งต่อผู้พ้นโทษจากเรือนจำไปอยู่ในการดูแลของคริสตจักรหรือให้หน่วยงานภาคเอกชนอื่นๆ เข้ามาช่วยแก้ไขปัญหาแบบครบวงจรโดยอาจพ่วงมิติของศาสนาอันจะส่งผลให้เกิดการช่วยเหลือผู้พ้นโทษที่เป็นรูปธรรมมากขึ้น

การศึกษาเรื่อง "ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการตกเป็นเหยื่ออาชญากรรมทางเศรษฐกิจ : ศึกษากรณีแชร์ลูกโซ่" มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบของแชร์ลูกโซ่ในประเทศไทย ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมการตกเป็นเหยื่อของแชร์ลูกโซ่ และแนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาการตกเป็นเหยื่อแชร์ลูกโซ่ การศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นการศึกษาวิจัยเชิงปริมาณควบคู่กับการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ ในการศึกษาวิจัยเชิงปริมาณใช้แบบสอบถามเป็นเครื่องมือ โดยการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง (Purposive Sampling) จากกลุ่มผู้ที่ตกเป็นเหยื่อแชร์ลูกโซ่ จำนวน 396 คน ส่วนการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ประชากรที่ศึกษาจำนวน 4 คน คือ เจ้าหน้าที่ที่ปฏิบัติงานโดยตรงเกี่ยวกับแชร์ลูกโซ่ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า มีแชร์ลูกโซ่ในประเทศไทย 3 รูปแบบ คือ 1. รูปแบบของแชร์ลูกโซ่ที่ใช้วิธีการขายสินค้าและบริการ มีลักษณะชักชวนให้ร่วมเล่นแบบปากต่อปาก เช่น การขายสินค้า การลงทุนแบบต่างๆ 2. รูปแบบแชร์ลูกโซ่ที่ใช้วิธีการชักชวนให้มาเป็นสมาชิกจะมีลักษณะเหมือนยุคอดีต แต่เน้นการหาสมาชิกมากกว่าการขายสินค้า 3. รูปแบบแชร์ลูกโซ่ที่ใช้วิธีการให้ความรู้และการใช้สื่อสังคมออนไลน์ที่เน้นการใช้สื่อสังคมออนไลน์เป็นเครื่องมือหาสมาชิกเข้าร่วม และการทดสอบปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมการตกเป็นเหยื่อแชร์ลูกโซ่ จำนวน 11 ตัวแปร ประกอบด้วย 1) ลักษณะของเหยื่ออาชญากรรม 2) ความเชื่อ 3) การตกเป็นเหยื่ออาชญากรรมตามแนวพุทธ 4) แบบแผนการดำเนินชีวิต 5) กิจวัตรประจำวัน 6) โอกาส 7) การบังคับ 8) การสนับสนุน 9) ความสามารถ 10) ค่านิยม และ 11) เป้าหมาย/วัตถุประสงค์ ทั้งหมดส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมการตกเป็นเหยื่อแชร์ลูกโซ่ มีแนวทางในการแก้ไขปัญหา คือ 1) การให้ความรู้แก่ประชาชนเกี่ยวกับรูปแบบของแชร์ลูกโซ่ที่หลากหลายและซับซ้อน 2) แจ้งต่อเจ้าหน้าที่ทันทีเมื่อประชาชนตกเป็นเหยื่อแชร์ลูกโซ่ เพื่อดำเนินการให้ความช่วยเหลือโดยเร็วที่สุด 3) ควรมีการบูรณาการหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเพื่อให้เกิดความร่วมมือในการปราบปราม ป้องกัน และแก้ไขปัญหาการตกเป็นเหยื่อแชร์ลูกโซ่ให้เกิดเป็นรูปธรรม และ 4) ควรแก้ไขบทลงโทษในความผิดเกี่ยวกับแชร์ลูกโซ่ให้รุนแรงขึ้น เพื่อให้ผู้กระทำผิดเกิดความเกรงกลัว ไม่กล้ากระทำความผิด

งานวิจัยเรื่องทายาทความรุนแรง: แนวคิดการประกอบสร้างทางสังคมต่อการจัดการประสบการณ์ความรุนแรง เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (qualitative research) โดยใช้วิธีการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (in-depth interview) เป็นเครื่องมือหลักในการรวบรวมข้อมูล ศึกษาวิจัยผ่านเรื่องเล่า (narrative) ของผู้หญิงอายุระหว่าง 20 - 60 ปี จำนวน 5 คน ซึ่งเป็นผู้ที่มาจากพื้นฐานครอบครัวตั้งต้นที่รุนแรงหรือมีประสบการณ์ความรุนแรงที่เกิดขึ้นช่วงก่อนอายุ 20 ปีบริบูรณ์ จากการศึกษาวิจัย มีข้อค้นพบดังต่อไปนี้ 1) กรอบแนวคิดทายาทความรุนแรง อธิบายปัจเจกบุคคลที่มีประสบการณ์ความรุนแรงในครอบครัวซึ่งเป็นผู้ที่ได้รับ "พิษ" "ความรุนแรง" หรือ "ผลกระทบในเชิงลบ"อันเนื่องมาจากประสบการณ์ดังกล่าว ซึ่งอาจสะท้อนผ่านทัศนคติที่รุนแรง อารมณ์ที่รุนแรง จนอาจนำไปสู่พฤติกรรมที่รุนแรงต่าง ๆ ต่อไปได้ 2) แนวคิดการประกอบสร้างทางสังคมเป็นการอธิบายกลไกทางสังคม 4 ระดับ ประกอบด้วย ความรุนแรงที่แฝงอยู่ในระดับความคิดความเชื่อหรือวัฒนธรรมที่รุนแรง (Toxic Root) สภาพแวดล้อมทางสังคมที่รุนแรง (Toxic Environment) ความสัมพันธ์ที่รุนแรง (Toxic Relationships) และปัจเจกบุคคลในฐานะทายาทความรุนแรง (Toxic Fruits) ซึ่งทั้งหมดถือเป็นปัจจัยที่มีส่วนสำคัญทำให้ความรุนแรงในฐานะโครงสร้างทางสังคมสามารถถูกสืบทอดและถ่ายทอดมาอย่างยาวนานรุ่นแล้วรุ่นเล่า 3) ทายาทความรุนแรงสามารถเลือกจัดการกับประสบการณ์ความรุนแรงได้ 2 แนวทาง ได้แก่ การจัดการด้วยวิถีทางที่รุนแรงและการจัดการด้วยวิถีทางที่ไม่รุนแรง (4) ปัจเจกบุคคลที่เติบโตมาจากพื้นฐานครอบครัวตั้งต้นที่รุนแรงมีแนวโน้มที่จะสืบทอดหรือผลิตซ้ำความรุนแรงต่อไป แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม บุคคลนั้นก็สามารถเสริมสร้างพลังแห่งตนและเรียนรู้ที่จะจัดการประสบการณ์ความรุนแรงเหล่านั้นด้วยวิถีทางที่ไม่รุนแรงได้เช่นกัน 5) ในการยุติวงจรความรุนแรงในครอบครัว จำเป็นต้องอาศัย 2 พลังสำคัญ ทั้งพลังภายในของปัจเจกบุคคลเองและพลังภายนอกจากสังคมทุกภาคส่วนที่จะเข้ามามีส่วนในการแก้ปัญหาความรุนแรงในครอบครัวร่วมกัน เพราะฉะนั้นการเสริมสร้างพลังแห่งตนจึงต้องพัฒนาควบคู่ไปกับการเสริมสร้างพลังทางสังคมเพื่อยุติโครงสร้างความรุนแรง โดยสรุป เนื่องจากมนุษย์ไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงแค่ผลผลิตจากการประกอบสร้างทางสังคมเท่านั้น แต่มนุษย์เสมือนผลผลิตทางสังคมซึ่งมาพร้อมกับเมล็ดพันธุ์ที่ทรงพลัง ซึ่งมีศักยภาพในการเปลี่ยนแปลงตนเองและมีความสามารถในการสร้างสรรค์สังคมไปในวิถีทางที่ดีขึ้นต่อไปได้
