Effect Of Taper And Pitch On Nickle-Titanium File With Variable Cross Section To Its Cyclic Fatigue (In Silico Study), Yustika Chrysandra, Tunjung Nugraheni, Wignyo Hadriyanto

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

The geometric design of an endodontic file includes cross-sectional shape, taper, and pitch. NiTi endodontic files of OneCurve (MicroMega) are made of two variations of cross-sectional shape, that is, double-s shaped and triple helix. Various kinds of modifications were made to increase the resistance of the NiTi endodontic files from fracture. Cyclic fatigue is the most common factor that causes a fracture of the endodontic file. Objective: The purpose of this study was to obtain a NiTi endodontic file design that has the best cyclic resistance value based on its taper size and number of pitch. Methods: This …

Efficacy Of Suture Versus Sutureless Technique After Periodontal Flap Surgery – A Split Mouth Study, Saranya M Feb 2024

Efficacy Of Suture Versus Sutureless Technique After Periodontal Flap Surgery – A Split Mouth Study, Saranya M

Annual Research Symposium

Suturing is an integral part of periodontal flap surgery, but it has disadvantages such as difficulty in maintaining oral hygiene, increased post-operative discomfort, and higher infection rate. To overcome these problems, a search for an alternative like tissue adhesives, possibly a sutureless technique has been experimented. The aim of the study was to compare the stability & healing properties after periodontal flap surgery using tissue adhesive and surgical sutures.

I-Prf : A Smart Cell Scaffold, Dr.Lochini Suriya Feb 2024

I-Prf : A Smart Cell Scaffold, Dr.Lochini Suriya

Annual Research Symposium

In regenerative dentistry, platelet rich plasma (PRP) has been used as a supra-physiological concentration of autologous growth factors capable of encouraging tissue regeneration. Despite this, there have been concerns raised about the use of anticoagulants, which are known to impair wound healing. In this work, a liquid formulation of platelet rich fibrin (PRF) called injectable-PRF (I-PRF) was studied without the need of anti-coagulants .

The Transformative Potential Of Ligaplants In Replicating Natural Tooth Connections, Mohan Prasad, Mohan Muthu Kumar Feb 2024

The Transformative Potential Of Ligaplants In Replicating Natural Tooth Connections, Mohan Prasad, Mohan Muthu Kumar

Annual Research Symposium

Over the past decade, dental implants have become the gold standard in tooth replacement, with osseointegrated implants reigning supreme. However, these implants present certain limitations, notably the absence of the periodontal ligament (PDL). In response to this challenge, innovative periodontal ligament implants, known as ligaplants, have emerged. By combining tissue engineering principles with cutting-edge implant materials, ligaplants offer a promising alternative to traditional implants, showcasing superior biological performance and potentially extending prosthetic life.Dental implantology has witnessed a transformative shift over the last ten years, with osseointegrated implants dominating the landscape of tooth replacement. Despite their widespread adoption, these implants face …

Mandibular Bone Block Graft For Localised Ridge Augmentation- A Case Report, Teena Selvaraj Feb 2024

Mandibular Bone Block Graft For Localised Ridge Augmentation- A Case Report, Teena Selvaraj

Annual Research Symposium

Dental implants in the anterior mandible is a challenge for clinicians because of patients exacting esthetic demands and difficult pre-existing anatomy. The placement of endosteal implants requires adequate bone volume for successful osseointegration. When themorphology of the bone does not allow proper implant placement, there are various bone augmentation procedures like bone grafts, which may be autografts, xenografts, allografts or alloplasts aids in reconstruction of the residual alveolar ridge for ideal implant placement. Among various bone grafts, the autogenous bone graft is still the “gold standard” for bone augmentation procedures. The symphysis region can act as an excellent source of …

Root Analogue Implants- The New Route, Subhashini Balaguru Feb 2024

Root Analogue Implants- The New Route, Subhashini Balaguru

Annual Research Symposium

Dental implants are an excellent option for replacing missing teeth. Traditional implants have a cylindrical or tapered geometry with threads along the screw length. The lack of proper congruency between the implant and the socket bone can eventually lead to implant failure due to stability loss and failure in osseointegration. To overcome this problem, novel approaches are being evaluated to manufacture customized root implants. This is expected to reduce the bone and soft-tissue trauma and promote a better primary stability. They do not require bone drilling, sinus lifting, bone augmentation or other traumatic procedures.

Interplay Of Periodontal Bacterial Metabolites In The Progression Of Coronary Artery Disease: A System Biological Approach, Janakiraman V Feb 2024

Interplay Of Periodontal Bacterial Metabolites In The Progression Of Coronary Artery Disease: A System Biological Approach, Janakiraman V

Annual Research Symposium

Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the intricate relationship between periodontal disease (PD) and coronary artery disease (CAD), as evidenced by epidemiological associations. Metalloproteinase inhibitor (TIMP1) plays a pivotal role in cellular signaling, differentiation, cell death, and migration by binding to target metalloproteinases, forming complexes with other molecules (collagenases) to inactivate them. However, the expression of TIMP1 is reduced in both PD and CAD, leading to an upregulation of other metalloproteinases. This research explores the hypothesis that metabolites released from (Porphyromonas gingivalis), a prevalent bacterium in atherosclerotic patients, may inhibit TIMP1, thereby influencing CAD progression. …

The New York State Dental Journal

Introduction: The subepithelial connective tissue graft (S-CTG) is the gold standard in achieving root coverage but is not without limitations. The Acellular Dermal Matrix (ADM) is an alternative source that can compensate for the S-CTG’s limitations. Body: Severe recession type 1 (RT1) defects were treated with a combined approach of autogenous and allogeneic soft tissue grafting, optimizing the benefits of both types of materials, in order to achieve maximum root coverage (MRC). Conclusion: Identifying the anatomical limitations of gingival recession as it relates to tooth rotation and its impact on vascular supply will best prepare both the clinician and patient …

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

The diagnosis and prognosis of teeth with endo-perio lesions present a major challenge for dentists. Proper diagnosis is critical in determining treatment and the long-term prognosis. However, treating complex endodontic and periodontal lesions is one of the most common challenges in current clinical practice. The coexistence of pulpal and periodontal tissue damage may complicate diagnosis and further influence dental prognosis. This article consists of a case report evaluating the efficacy of xenografts and resorbable membrane pericardium in treating bifurcation lesions associated with periodontal lesions of the left mandibular first molar. A 22-year-old female patient was referred by conservative dentistry with …
