The authors report on their qualitative study of eight students in a class on writing for publication and the nature of the writing process in academia. While the participants found value and purpose in writing and scholarly writing, they had great difficulty with criticism and using feedback in constructive ways.

Forty to fifty four years old Malaysian public employee view mandatory retirement at 55 as challenging. They expect to be financially and social psychologically affected. Pre-retirement learning program is wanting. Their learning interest reflects their biopsychosocial situation, value and needs. Learning for these middle age adults can be framed to life-stage issue and context.

For this reason, the Art Department is requesting funds to support "Natural Resources," an exhibition of paintings by University of Maine alumni Charles Yoder. Mr. Yoder's recent works are paintings of trees, created in his studio from manipulated photographs. His paintings have been described as deceptively simple, widely accessible, thought-provoking and mysterious. The programming for the fall semester began in mid-September (with capacity audiences of 70 people) and will consist of ten events by semester's end:The Series is fortunate to be hosting a diverse array of emergent and established writers, with poets from Nigeria (Chinyere Grace Okafor), Jamaica (Mark McMorris), Australia (John Tranter), Canada (Robin Blaser) and Israel (Benjamin Hollander) joining multicultural American writers like Brian Kim Stefans (Korean American) and Mexican American (Roberto Tejada).
