Femmes Politiques En France : Une Comparaison Des Femmes Politiques De La France Et Des Antilles Françaises, Sarah F. Stiles
Femmes Politiques En France : Une Comparaison Des Femmes Politiques De La France Et Des Antilles Françaises, Sarah F. Stiles
Honors Theses

Refiguring History : The Works Of Faith Ringgold And Kara Walker, Amy Bradshaw
Refiguring History : The Works Of Faith Ringgold And Kara Walker, Amy Bradshaw
Honors Theses
In this thesis, I seek to investigate various elements that the works of Faith
Ringgo ld (b 1930) and Kara Walker (b 1969) have in common as well as explore the
differences. My method is to begin with an examination of the work of Ringgold on its
own and follow with an analy sis of the work of Walker. While dealing with Walker, I
continue an examination of Ringgold so that the work of both artist s and the connections
and differences between the two become clearer.
Literary Love Making In Nicholas Sparks Novels: Finding The Balance Between The Writer’S Life And The Writer’S Work In Bestselling Romantic Literature, Ryan Spanich
Honors Theses
For almost a decade now Nicholas Sparks has been writing love stories. Not only has he been publishing his stories, but they have received high acclaim in each of their installments. Several of his novels have been made into major motion pictures and increased his popularity quite significantly. His status as a successful romantic fiction writer is undeniable, but the question is, why? What is it about Nicholas Sparks that makes his novels so engaging, and personally, what do I need to do as an aspiring novelist to try and acquire the same literary status? Sparks’s novels reach readers at …
Mom Or Manager?: How Social Factors And Personal Choice Affect The Work/Family Balance In The United States, Japan And Germany, Christine E. Mueller
Mom Or Manager?: How Social Factors And Personal Choice Affect The Work/Family Balance In The United States, Japan And Germany, Christine E. Mueller
Honors Theses
This report investigates the work/family balance based on two factors: social influence and personal choice. The first factor is significant because society dictates and enforces the prescribed roles for women. The degree of career progression a woman can achieve is partly bound by restrictions of society. The other factor, personal choice, is the factor that only each woman can determine for herself. A woman can only progress as far as her personal goals determine. In addition to the relationship between society and personal choice, this report examines the barriers to pursuit of a management career inherent in these factors.
Girls In Motion: World War I As A Catalyst For Change In The Cultural And Fictive Landscape Of American Girlhood, Emily Honey
Girls In Motion: World War I As A Catalyst For Change In The Cultural And Fictive Landscape Of American Girlhood, Emily Honey
Honors Theses
The girls' series fiction of the First World War is particularly adept at portraying both the service of women and their idealization, simultaneously encouraging young women to go out into the workforce in the name of patriotism and discouraging them from giving up their roles as the traditional caretakers of men.
The Integration Of Women's Studies Into Leadership Studies, Olivia J. Wilkinson
The Integration Of Women's Studies Into Leadership Studies, Olivia J. Wilkinson
Honors Theses
The purpose of my project was to study the inclusion of gender in leadership and to offer the Jepson School a critical evaluation that could be used to initiate change. The agreement and support I previously received, has led me to realize that there was room for growth. Still such a large merger of disciplines needs research and assessment before action can be taken. I know my project will provide the building block for Jepson to address this problem.
The Female Language Barrier: A Close Reading Of The Poetry Of Emily Dickinson And Adrienne Rich, Annmarie Faiella
The Female Language Barrier: A Close Reading Of The Poetry Of Emily Dickinson And Adrienne Rich, Annmarie Faiella
Honors Theses
Historically, the First Amendment right to free speech was limited to certain groups. Language, although constitutionally guaranteed since 1776, has not always been a freedom for everyone. Among those at language's mercy are immigrants, slaves, and women. Women's speech was limited not by a lack of knowledge, but by a societal acceptance of women as inferior.
What then do women do to overcome this ever-present chasm? What women did in the nineteenth century, the 1960s, and are still doing today is: write more creatively. The tighter the restraint of language, the more inventive the woman must be to use it …
National Food Brokers Association Members Communicate Attitudes About Women Working In Food Brokerage Positions, Dennis S. Moore
National Food Brokers Association Members Communicate Attitudes About Women Working In Food Brokerage Positions, Dennis S. Moore
Honors Theses
The purpose of this study is to identify the attitudes of the National Food Brokers Association Members in the East North Central states about women working in the food brokerage positions of retail sales representative, sales supervisor, and sales manager. This study examines three hypotheses: (1) The small percentage of women in these positions is due to unawareness of the job titles and opportunities available, (2) The small percentage of women in these positions is due to the fact that top management believes male employees are more effective in relating to principles than women, and, (3) The small percentage of …

The Quest For Woman Suffrage In Arkansas, Michele Roussel
The Quest For Woman Suffrage In Arkansas, Michele Roussel
Honors Theses
The struggle for woman suffrage in Arkansas and the entire United States did not end until the twentieth century. It was a long and difficult process but in 1917 with the passage of the Arkansas Primary Suffrage Bill, Arkansas women were allowed to vote in primaries. Then, in 1920 they were given full suffrage rights through the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment. In order for these events to occur, women's traditional role had to change in Arkansas and the nation, and it had to be accepted by both men and women. The traditional view of women given by Anne Scott …
