Host Penetration And Infection By The Anastomosis Groups Ofrhizoctonia Solanikühn Isolated From Potatoes, Erkol Demi̇rci̇, M. Timur Döken

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The modes of penetration and infection of the isolates belonging various anastomosis groups (AG-2 type 1, AG-2 type 2, AG-3, AG-4 and Ag-5) of Rhizoctonia solani Kühn isolated from potatoes were investigated on the underground stems of the host. During the process of penetration, infection cushions were observed in all isolates in addition to the formation of labote appressoria by AG-3, AG-5 and direct hypel penetration of AG-4. Numerous fine infection pegs formed from infection cushions grew between or into epidermal cells following the penetration of cuticula. A similar mode of penetration was also occured by the infection peg produced …

As a result, the following four doses and 3 application times (April 15+April 27+June 13) of each provided 100% control; recommended dose with spreader-sticker addition, recommended dose without spreader-sticker, half of the recommended dose with spreader-sticker, half of the recommended dose without spreader-sticker. Two application (April 15+April 27) with the recommended dose provided 90.79%, two application with half of the recommended dose provided 85.22%, two …

The Opportunities Of Using Mushroom Compost Waste In Strawberrygrowing, Ahsen Işık Özgüven Jan 1998

The Opportunities Of Using Mushroom Compost Waste In Strawberrygrowing, Ahsen Işık Özgüven

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The aim of this study is to see whether Mushroom compost waste (MCW) can be used as an alternative fertilizers to Farm yard manure (FYM) because the latter is very expensive in Strawberry growing. Experiment was carried out with frigo plants of Douglas cv. in summer planting system. In this experiment, both MCW (test material) and FYM (as control) were used. The obtained MCW and FYM were used 10, 20 and 40 tons per hectare. Experiment was designed as Randomized Blocks with 3 replicates. Applications in question during the growing season are observed the earliness, the yield per plant and …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The foraging ecology of Apis mellifera syriaca and A. m. armeniaca was studied using artificial flower patches consisting of blue, white, and yellow flowers. Two experiments were performed with each race. Experiment I examined forager response to differences in sucrose reward molarity (quality of reward) associated with flower colors. Experiment II varied the quantity of sucrose reward associated with flower colors. A. m. syriacaand A. m. armeniacaeach responded to quality and quantity differences between blue and white flowers. Prior studies show that A. m. caucasica and A. m. ligustica respond to reward quality difference, but they do not respond to …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study is concerned with the production of haploids of linseed. Anthers of eight genotypes were cultured both on solid and in liquid medium. It was found that callus induction rate was low in both media and also the cultivars significantly affected callus induction rate both on solid and in liquid medium. The cultivar Blue-Chip gave, on average, the maximum (3.67%) callus induction rate on solid medium and the cultivar Antares gave, on average, the maximum (3.35%) callus induction rate in liquid medium. The cultivar Norman produced callus on solid medium but did not produce any callus in liquid medium. …
