Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is an endemic disease in Thailand and caused severe economic loses. In order to prevent and control disease, the vaccination program is routinely administered for 2-3 times a year via subcutaneous route (SC). Even though, the vaccination is performed regularly, the outbreaks have often reported. The outbreaks occur due to the failure of number of immunity animal in population or herd immunity. The limitation of vaccine distribution to all animal population and difficulty of cattle restraint are forcible several farmers to failing to vaccinate their animals. Based on previous studies, the intradermal route (ID) can …

Evaluation Of Pcr Primers Targeting The Vp2 Region Of The Foot-And-Mouth Disease Virus For Improved Serotype Detection, Waqas Ali, Mudasser Habib, Muhammad Salah Ud Din Shah
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Frequently, a sequence from a single strain of a virus is used to design primers for PCR-based virus detection. However, high mutation rates in RNA viruses lead to failure of microorganism detection in clinical samples. Therefore, it is essential to find conserved regions within sequences to design primers for the detection of pathogen genomes in suspected clinical samples. The aim of the study was to find conserved regions of the genome for improved serotype detection. In the present study, primers were designed for serotype detection based on the VP2 coding region of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) after alignment of full …

Isolation Of Multidrug Resistant Coliforms And Their Bacteriophages From Swine Slurry, Adrian Augustyniak, Bartlomiej Grygorcewicz, Pawe? Nawrotek
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Slurry management is a contemporary agricultural problem. Although liquid manure is a valuable fertiliser, it may pose a microbiological threat due to spreading of bacteria resistant to various antibiotics. Fermentation has been proposed as a solution to this problem, although it does not fully eliminate the antibiotic-resistant strains. The presence of gram-negative rods resistant to antimicrobials may cause an uncontrolled transmission of resistance factors and genes in the natural environment. Therefore, a biocontrol system is necessary to prevent this phenomenon. The aim of this study was to detect multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria and their lytic bacteriophages in raw swine slurry. For …
