X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH) is caused by mutations in PHEX, leading to rickets and osteomalacia. Adults affected with XLH develop a mineralization of the bone-tendon attachment site (enthesis), called enthesopathy, which causes significant pain and impaired movement. Entheses in mice with XLH (Hyp) have enhanced bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) and Indian hedgehog (IHH) signaling. Treatment of Hyp mice with the BMP signaling blocker palovarotene attenuated BMP/IHH signaling in Hyp entheses, thus indicating that BMP signaling plays a pathogenic role in enthesopathy development and that IHH signaling is activated by BMP signaling in entheses. Tissues are organized into anatomical and functional units at different scales. New technologies for high-dimensional molecular profiling in situ have enabled the characterization of structure-function relationships in increasing molecular detail. However, it remains a challenge to consistently identify key functional units across experiments, tissues, and disease contexts, a task that demands extensive manual annotation. Here, we present spatial cellular graph partitioning (SCGP), a flexible method for the unsupervised annotation of tissue structures. We further present a reference-query extension pipeline, SCGP-Extension, that generalizes reference tissue structure labels to previously unseen samples, performing data integration and tissue structure discovery. Pregnancy is a sensitive period of development in adult life characterized by massive changes in physical, emotional, and cognitive function. Such changes may be adaptive, e.g., facilitating adjustment to physical demands, but they may also reflect or contribute to risks inherent to this stage of life, e.g., prenatal depression. One cognitive ability that may undergo change during pregnancy and contribute to mental wellness is interoception - the ability to perceive, integrate, and model sensory information originating from the body. Background: Burnout affects a high number of healthcare providers and compromises both provider and patient wellbeing. In addition to high turnover rates, burnout costs healthcare systems through errors, poor care outcomes, and decreased patient satisfaction. Mindfulness-based therapy delivered by phone apps has been successful in improving stress levels and burnout measures. Based on similar research with medical students, physician assistant students may benefit from early stress-reduction interventions, although the research surrounding implementation and long-term follow up is lacking.

Adverse and traumatic events happen regularly in healthcare settings, and often they create a clinician “second victim” who struggles with feelings of guilt, isolation, doubt, and incompetence. Research has shown that clinicians desire support in the wake of such adverse events, but that factors such as stigma, culture of perfection, and lack of an available structured peer program limit the support that might be offered. Emerging work suggests that affect regulation strategies (e.g., active coping, anger expression) predict disease and mortality risk, with sometimes divergent estimates by sex or education levels. However, few studies have examined potential underlying biological mechanisms. This study assessed the longitudinal association of affect regulation with future allostatic load.

Method

In 2004–2006, 574 participants from the Midlife in the United States study completed validated scales assessing use of nine general and emotion-specific regulatory strategies (e.g., denial, anger expression). Objective of Study. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of positive adult/teacher relationships in juvenile detention educational settings in Minnesota on juvenile offenders’ perceptions of school, as well as their future plans for attending college after high school. Method. Data were obtained from the 2019 administration of the Minnesota Student Survey, involving 280 juvenile offenders (83 girls) from correctional educational facilities. Hypotheses were tested using correlational analyses to examine the relationship between perceived adult/teacher relationships and school perceptions, as well as the association between these relationships and post-high school plans. People who inject drugs (PWID) are often members of HIV/AIDS risk networks, where individuals engage in sexual and injection risk behavior. Engagement in HIV care is important for this population. Low socioeconomic status, stigmatization, and lack of access to medical care often complicate successful engagement in the HIV cascade of care for PWID. Further research is needed to help improve both the standard of care and the outcome for patients with treatment-resistant depression. A particularly critical evidence gap exists with respect to whether pharmacological or non-pharmacological augmentation is superior to antidepressant switch, or vice-versa. The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of augmentation with aripiprazole or repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation versus switching to the antidepressant venlafaxine XR (or duloxetine for those not eligible to receive venlafaxine) for treatment-resistant depression. INTRODUCTION: Vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID) represent a major factor in cognitive decline in older adults. The present study examined the relationship between cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cognitive function in a multi-site study, using a predefined hypothesis.

METHODS: We conducted the study in a total of three analysis sites and 263 subjects. Each site performed an identical CVR MRI procedure using 5% carbon dioxide inhalation. A global cognitive measure of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and an executive function measure of item response theory (IRT) score were used as outcomes.
