PURPOSE: Clinical screening systems (CSSs) for Cushing syndrome (CS) validated in Europe have not been evaluated for CS or Cushing disease (CD) in the United States (US). We aimed to evaluate existing CSSs in US patients and develop two new symptom-based CSSs to identify patients with high pre-test probability of disease warranting referral for definitive biochemical workup-one for broad CS screening and one specifically for CD.

Purpose: Retrospective chart reviews in ophthalmology are essential for gaining clinical insights, but they remain labor-intensive and prone to error. Despite digitization through electronic health records, extracting and interpreting lengthy, unstructured patient histories remains challenging, particularly in ophthalmology, which relies heavily on both imaging and text-based reports. Long-read RNA sequencing is a powerful technology for transcriptomics, but low throughput and high cost pose challenges. Adaptive sampling, a feature of Oxford Nanopore Technologies, offers real-time enrichment by selectively ejecting non-target molecules. We evaluate adaptive sampling for human transcriptome analysis. Adaptive sampling modestly enriches target transcripts (1.3 × for cDNA sequencing, 1.9 × for direct RNA sequencing) while preserving gene expression and splicing profiles, but is significantly less effective than cDNA hybridization capture. Short read lengths and low sequencing quality limit performance. Adaptive sampling on direct RNA sequencing can boost target yield (~ 20%) within fixed run times, potentially …

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) in rodent models has been used to longitudinally image retinal changes, to define end points for more costly or time-consuming experiments, and to better understand the pathophysiology underlying OCT findings in human diseases. No standardization of rodent OCT reporting currently exists. Here, we aim to establish consensus recommendation for reporting results from retinal OCT studies in rodents.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the outcomes of anterior and posterior surgical approaches for treating cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament across multiple spinal levels, including 1-2 spinal levels, ≥ 3 levels, or studies that operated on both spinal levels, called mixed spinal levels.

METHODS: A search strategy using pertinent keywords was employed in the MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Data on Modified Japanese Orthopaedic Association (mJOA) scores, radiographic outcomes, and complications were extracted. Background: Failure to rescue (FTR), defined as death after major postoperative complications, is a critical quality indicator in pancreatic cancer surgery. Despite advances in surgical techniques and perioperative care, FTR rates remain high and vary across institutions. Methods: This systematic review uses a narrative synthesis followed by PRISMA 2020. A PubMed search (1992-2025) identified 83 studies; after screening, 52 studies (2010-2025) were included. Eligible designs were registry-based, multicenter, single-center, or prospective audits. Given substantial heterogeneity in study designs, FTR definitions, and outcome measures, a narrative synthesis was performed; no formal risk-of-bias assessment or meta-analysis was conducted. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the impact of clinical surveillance, primary radiotherapy, and primary surgery on overall survival (OS) in laryngeal carcinoma in situ (Cis).

METHODS: The 2006-2020 National Cancer Database was queried for adults with a biopsy-proven diagnosis of laryngeal Cis. Multivariable binary logistic and Cox proportional hazards regression models were implemented.

RESULTS: Of 3567 unique patients satisfying inclusion criteria, 514 (14.4%) underwent clinical surveillance, 1074 (30.1%) underwent primary radiotherapy, and 1979 (55.5%) underwent primary surgery. PURPOSE: To investigate outcomes of robotic ureteral reconstruction (RUR) in female patients with ureteral strictures caused by peri-ureteral endometriosis lesions.

METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed our multi-institutional Collaborative of Reconstructive Robotic Ureteral Surgery (CORRUS) database to identify all consecutive patients undergoing RUR for surgical management of endometriosis-induced ureteral strictures between 2017 and 2022. Indications for surgery included female patients with radiographic evidence of ureteral strictures and/or decreasing renal function on renal scan. We performed a descriptives analysis of perioperative outcomes in patients who met inclusion criteria. Surgical success was defined as freedom from additional interventions for recurrent ureteral stenosis.

The hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp technique is considered the gold standard for measuring insulin sensitivity in large animals. We developed a practical method for conducting concurrent glucose clamp experiments in a pair of sedated farm swine positioned in a sling. Descriptions of customized equipment and central venous access surgical procedures for blood collection are provided. Personnel functions are described for execution of the clamp protocol. A total of 24 hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp studies were performed over 6 weeks. Infusaports remained functional for 1454 blood samples. ObjectiveTo develop evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for non-invasive neuromodulation devices in acute and preventive migraine treatment.MethodsA systematic review was conducted across six databases from 1946 to April 2025. Randomized controlled trials evaluating Food and Drug Administration-cleared or Conformité Européenne (CE)-marked non-invasive neuromodulation devices were included. The quality of evidence was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology, and recommendations were developed through consensus following GRADE Evidence-to-Decision frameworks. Purpose/Background

The Papanicolaou “pap” smear screens for cervical cancer in women ages 21-65 with a cervix. Inconsistent locations for lab results lead to a decrease in provider efficiency, and patients are unaware of results or recommended follow-up. This quality improvement project implemented a tracking tool within the electronic medical record (EMR) in a busy midwifery clinic. The outcomes are the identification of patients overdue for pap smears, scheduling the procedure, recording of results, and patient notification with recommended follow-up.

BACKGROUND: Tebentafusp has significantly improved overall survival in HLA-A*02:01+ metastatic uveal melanoma (mUM) patients even in those with a best objective response of progressive disease. Music influences emotion, physiology, and cognition, yet little is known about how the frequency it is tuned to affects these influences. Prior research has shown that music tuned to 432 Hz can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve sleep. My colleagues and I conducted two studies to investigate this. Our research found that music tuned to 432 Hz promotes a significant increase in memory retention and induces a state of focus and relaxation. These results suggest that shifting from the standard tuning frequency of 440 Hz to 432 Hz could have a profoundly positive impact on our daily lives. …
