Background: Cord blood gas measurements are helpful to determine the acid-base status of a neonate after delivery and can determine risk for neonatal encephalopathy. Collection usually occurs right after delivery of the infant and after the umbilical cord has been cut and clamped. The OBGYN residents are currently trained to draw cord blood for gas analysis if clinical status of the neonate is subpar, but there exist other indications for drawing cord blood to send for cord gases as recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics. The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the outcomes of patients undergoing THA and using a GLP-1a medication. Methods A search was conducted across six databases. Objective

To describe the distribution of predefined Index Symptoms and Diagnostic Profiles in a cohort of men undergoing Remote multi-day urinary diagnostics (RMUD) for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).

Methods

We retrospectively analyzed 1,047 RMUD performed with CarePath® in men referred for LUTS across 18 sites. RMUD combined multi-day frequency-volume and uroflowmetry data with the IPSS. Six Index Symptoms were operationalized: (1) low flow with elevated IPSS (device trial criteria), (2) overactivity, (3) primary overactivity (overactivity without obstructive RMUD findings), (4) nocturia, (5) nocturnal polyuria (NP) using the ICS NP index, and 6) no qualifying voids. However, concerns remain regarding VLMs' consistency and uncertainty, particularly in critical applications such as healthcare, which demand a high level of trust and reliability. This paper proposes a novel approach to evaluate uncertainty in VLMs' responses using a convex hull approach on a healthcare application for visual question answering (VQA). Study Design: Systematic Review. Objective: To describe the historical classifications of thoracolumbar injuries and their evolution into the AO Spine Thoracolumbar Injury Classification System. Methods: A systematic review of MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane Databases was performed in keeping with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Results: 445 articles were crystallized to 14 included studies. Simple categorization systems offered by Bohler or Watson-Jones merely identify fracture morphology. This project proposes a nurse-led pilot of AI-supported predictive mobility monitoring on a cardiac medical-surgical unit, to improve early identification of high-risk mobility behaviors and enhance patient safety. Current fall-prevention strategies, such as bed alarms and virtual sitters, often alert staff after unsafe movement has begun, creating a reactive cycle that contributes to alarm fatigue and delayed intervention (Abbe & O’Keeffe, 2020). This initiative uses monitors with contactless infrared sensors to identify movement before patients exit the bed, an alert system that goes straight to the nurse and PCT phones, and a central console for floor management and care coordination. …

Atherosclerosis remains the primary driver of global cardiovascular disease, yet clinical interventions are largely restricted to high-cost, invasive procedures only after it has reached a critical stage. Recent research has identified a connection between the oral microbiome and vascular health via the enterosalivary nitrate-nitrite-nitic oxide (NO) pathway. Oral nitrate-reducing bacteria (ONRB) drive the synthesization of NO by reducing dietary nitrate into nitrite, which is then converted into bioavailable NO. NO is a potent vasodilator that maintains endothelial health by suppressing inflammation through inhibiting the expression of adhesion molecules VCAM-1 and ICAM-1. Background and Aims

Breast cancer (BCa) is a major cause of cancer morbidity and mortality among women in Nigeria, with late presentation contributing to poor outcomes. This study assessed knowledge, attitudes, and willingness to perform breast self-examination (BSE) among adult females in Nigeria and examined associated factors.

Methods

We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional online survey between February 16 and April 30, 2024. A structured, pretested questionnaire was disseminated through digital platforms, yielding 711 consenting adult female respondents from all six geopolitical zones. CT radiomics-based machine learning has potential to predict lung cancer in pulmonary nodules (PNs) earlier than standard-of-care methods. Low malignancy rates in early-development PNs and variable image acquisition hinder development of radiomic models for diagnosing these PNs. To address these challenges, we augmented training using later-development PNs and harmonized for acquisition effects. We examine early-development benign and malignant PNs (n = 106) below the sensitivity of standard-of-care diagnosis. Classifiers predicting malignancy performed near chance when trained on ComBat-harmonized radiomic features from only early-development PNs.
