Introduction:Clinical verification is an ongoing research programme of the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, under which many Indian and rarely used drugs in Homoeopathy have been Clinically Verified. Staphylococcinum is a nosode, prepared from the bacterial endotoxins of staphylococcus pyogenes aureus. In India, the medicine is prepared as per the direction of preparation of nosodes of N-I group of Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of India (HPI). Recent studies on viral genetics establish swine-H1N1 - responsible for the ongoing pandemics - as a remainder or continuation of the agent causing the flu epidemics of 1918. This study aimed at analyzing whether this common etiology also result in significant correlations of clinical manifestations. A 6 year old boy, presented at Mother and Child Health clinic of Regional Research Institute (Homoeopathy), Mumbai, suffering from very rare neurological syndrome sub-acute measles encephalitis (SME) with early neurological sequel, treated with Zincum metallicum on the basis of totality of symptoms. The auxiliary measures, nursing & medical care was provided along with homoeopathic treatment. The effective response was observed without any post viral neurological deficits. The total duration of follow up of the case was two years and six months.

This study examined the usage patterns of nondrug alternatives and obtained knowledge that will be beneficial to future drug abuse prevention and rehabilitation in college students. The purpose was to identify the specific nondrug/drug alternatives used to alter mood by non-Hispanic Whites and Hispanics. Analysis revealed that engaging in discussion with spouse/friends was used most frequently to alter mood. The overall distribution of drug alternatives and nondrug alternatives differed significantly from chance in 72 participants. Further pair-wise analyses found there were significant differences between five drug and nondrug alternatives endorsed by non-Hispanic Whites and Hispanics. In conclusion, it was found …

Xylose is a natural monosaccharide found in biomass such as straw, pecan shells, cottonseed hulls, and corncobs. Using this monosaccharide, we report the green synthesis and characterization of biocompatible, biodegradable xylose encapsulated gold nanoparticles (Xyl-GNPs) with potential antibacterial activity. GNPs were synthesized using the bioreduction property of xylose on the chloroaurate anions in an aqueous solution at room temperature and at atmospheric pressure. The characterization of synthesized GNPs was examined by UV-vis spectroscopy; transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Musicians are a high-risk occupational group for musculoskeletal disorders. Often manifesting in muscle tension, pain and paresthesia, musculoskeletal disorders can drastically affect comfort, mentality and endurance while performing. This study sought to examine the effects of electromyography (EMG) biofeedback training in reducing musculoskeletal symptoms in music performance. The subjects were university-level violinists and cellists. Over a period of 2-4 weeks, all participants underwent EMG biofeedback training while performing their instrument using audio feedback. No significant results were found, but patterns of decreased muscle tension and increased performance comfort and endurance were observed.

Gaining Admission To The Medical Discourse Community: The Importance Of Method Within Homeopathic Research, Katharina Jorgensen

This article represents a synthesis of current homeopathic research. I explore the rhetorical universe of homeopathy and juxtapose homeopathic research articles with articles critical of homeopathy. Furthermore, I regard the discourse community of homeopathy and the struggles it undergoes in seeking admission into mainstream medicine. Following my research is the conclusion that the aim of homeopathic research has drifted from an integrated model to a pluralistic one, thereby ignoring criticisms issued by mainstream medical researchers. The trend of homeopathic researchers publishing in specialized homeopathic or complementary and alternative medical (CAM) journals is also explored within my article.

OBJECTIVE: Adiponectin (APN) system malfunction is causatively related to increased cardiovascular morbidity/mortality in diabetic patients. The aim of the current study was to investigate molecular mechanisms responsible for APN transmembrane signaling and cardioprotection.

METHODS AND RESULTS: Compared with wild-type mice, caveolin-3 knockout (Cav-3KO) mice exhibited modestly increased myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (increased infarct size, apoptosis, and poorer cardiac function recovery; P

CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, these results demonstrated for the first time that Cav-3 plays an essential role in APN transmembrane signaling and APN anti-ischemic/cardioprotective actions.
