Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of different doses of melatonin (MEL) applications (0, 5, 10 μM) on certain biochemical characteristics of strawberry seedlings grown in calcareous stress conditions. The experiment was conducted in the pots filled with lime-added mixture at the rate of 1% and peat perlite at the rate of 1:1 with frigo seedlings belonging to "Albion" strawberry cultivar. In order to examine the effects of MEL application against lime stress in different development stages; analyses of proline, total phenolic content, and lipid peroxidation were performed on leaf samples taken in 3 different periods. …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

In this study, the total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), in vitro antioxidant capacity and individual phenolic compounds of Juniperus drupacea Labill berry and pekmez (molasses) were determined. Since pekmez was the only edible form of berry, the bioaccessibility of phenolic compounds and the antioxidant capacity of the pekmez were assessed following exposure to simulated gastrointestinal conditions. The phenolic compounds determined in the berry and pekmez were similar, while the pekmez was especially rich in protocatechuic acid, and additionally, the berries were rich catechin and chrysin. Generally, through oral to the intestinal stage of the simulated gastric conditions, …

Hydropriming Associated Physiological And Biochemical Changes Responsible For The Enhanced Planting Value Of Maize Hybrid And Its Parental Line Seeds, Heena Rasool Mir, Shiv Yadav, Sangita Yadav

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Hydropriming has the potential to ameliorate the stress-induced ill effects on yields of the crop plants and quality of seed produced. In the present study, half of the fresh seeds of maize hybrid, PEHM 5 and its parental lines (Female - CM 150, Male - CM 151) were subjected to accelerated aging test for bringing down the viability and vigour, thereby creating low vigour lots while high vigour lots consisted of fresh seeds, which were hydroprimed (30 h at 25 °C). Half of the hydroprimed seeds were surface dried while the other half were redried back to the original moisture …

Open-field farming involves successive major processes such as preparation of soil, planting the seed, adding pesticides and fertilizers, irrigation, cultivation, and harvest. The main aim of all processes is to achieve maximum yield out of the available agricul-tural landscape. It is necessary to collect geo-referenced descriptive data on soil characteristics, such as soil penetration resistance and electrical conductivity before starting all these processes. In this context, agricultural robots offer highly promising technologies provid-ing valuable soil data, lower production costs, reduced manual labour, and maximum crop efficiency. The aim of this study is to design and develop a combined sensor platform …

In addition to soil water measurements, hyperspectral reflectance observations were made throughout the dry beans? growing season. Actual crop evapotranspiration values were calculated by using a detailed soil water balance approach. After smoothing the hyperspectral reflectance data, …

Residual Spatial Autocorrelation In Macroecological And Biogeographical Modeling: A Review, Guetchine Gaspard 2021 University of Kentucky

Residual Spatial Autocorrelation In Macroecological And Biogeographical Modeling: A Review, Guetchine Gaspard

Theses and Dissertations--Geography

Macroecological and biogeographical modelers have predicted the distribution of species across space relying on the relationship between biotic processes and environmental variables. Such a method employs data associated, for instance, with species abundance or presence/absence, climate, geomorphology, and soils. Statistical analyses found in previous studies have highlighted the importance of accounting for the effects of spatial autocorrelation (SAC), which indicates a level of dependence between pairs of nearby observations. A consensus has existed that residual spatial autocorrelation (rSAC) can substantially impact modeling processes and inferences. However, more emphasis should be put on identifying the sources of rSAC and the degree …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Heat shock proteins (Hsps), also known as stress proteins, are expressed by living organisms. Hsp genes play key roles in the regulation of change in response to various abiotic stresses (e.g., salinity, drought, heavy metal, and extreme temperatures). In our previous studies, all Hsp family gene members were determined and named using bioinformatics approaches. We also examined their expression profiles under different stress conditions. In this study, the aim was to indicate the expression pattern of Hsp family genes under cadmium (Cd) stress in different poplar taxa which are resistant to various stresses. Firstly, transcriptome data including RNA-seq and microarray …
