In the summer of 2012 we undertook a landscape assessment of aspen forest conditions at Wolf Creek Ranch (WCR) near Kamas, Utah. Using a geographic information system (GIS) coverage of predicted aspen coverage, fifty systematically selected field "plots" were located and mapped with aspen stands around WCR. Seven plots were eventually discarded from our survey due to lack of aspen cover. Volunteer field crews, mostly WCR homeowners, collected aspen data documenting tree sizes, height/age groups, diameters, reproduction, mortality, browse levels, and browse animal use levels.

Budgeting grass supply allows producers to minimise the quantity of purchased feed required in the diet of grazing livestock. One tool for managing grass supply could be a mathematical model that can simulate grass growth. Giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida L.) is a competitive annual plant found in disturbed landscapes and is the most troublesome weed in Indiana and the US Corn Belt. It is one of the most common and problematic weeds in corn and soybean production. The introduction of herbicide glyphosate, N-(phosphonomethyl) glycine in early 1970's provided farmers with a better and low-cost tool to control weeds. In this study, extraction of phenolic compounds from melissa by microwave and ultrasound was studied. In both the microwave and ultrasound extractions, the effects of extraction time (5-20 min for microwave; 5-30 min for ultrasound) and solid-to-solvent ratio (1:10, 1:20, and 1:30 g mL^{-1}) on total phenolic content (TPC) were investigated. Effects of different powers (50% and 80%) were also studied for the ultrasound extraction. As a solvent, water was used. The effects of Meloidogyne incognita, Xanthomonas campestris, and Rhizobium sp., alone or in combination, on the disease complex in chickpea were examined. Individual inoculation with M. incognita and X. campestris caused significant reductions in plant growth, while inoculation with Rhizobium sp. resulted in a significant increase in plant growth. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of sewage sludge on subirrigated pasture soil and plant metal concentrations, and the relationship between them. Deficiency of micronutrients, particularly of zinc, boron, and iron, in calcareous soils is of great concern. Results indicate a reduction in yield of seed-cotton due to an imbalance of nutrients, particularly micronutrients, on calcareous soils in the last decade. About 90% of Pakistani soils are deficient in micronutrients, particularly zinc, boron, and iron. This study was designed to find correlations between the rate of nitrogen and potassium and basil herb quality resulting from essential oil content and composition. In this study, 4-sided rectangular full-size cabinets from 2 types of medium-density fiberboard (MDF; melamine-coated MDF with edge band and uncoated MDF without edge band) were manufactured and tested. Screws with nominal size of 4 × 40 mm were used for joint fabrication. Cabinets were kept in a conditioned climate chamber for accelerated aging treatment and their maximum load-bearing capacity was measured. Three cultivars of Alternanthera bettzickiana (Regel) G.Nicholson have been evaluated for their tolerance and adaptability potential to salt stress. During the experiment, 5 salt regimes were maintained: 18 (control), 50, 100, 150, and 200 mM NaCl. Salinity adversely affected all growth shoot length and leaves per plant. Root fresh and dry weight decreased with an increase in salinity levels in all 3 cultivars.
