Importance Of Creating A System Of Land And Cadastral Data For Subjects Of Agriculture, К. Rakhmonov
Irrigation and Melioration
The generation of electronic data using the land plot scheme while maintaining the land cadastre provides significant convenience for users. Based on this concept, the author explains the conditions, factors and elements of the formation of the contours of land within the land, which plays an important role in the land cadastral work. In particular, the elements of the contour of the earth, that is, the conditions and composition of the border, the area and the order of formation of numbers, are reflected in a separate figure. It is known that the composition of agricultural land plays an important role …

Too Good To Eat? Cosmetic Standards And Waste In Agricultural Supply Chain, Jiahui Xu
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
There is a significant amount of food wasted at the farm level due to high cosmetic standards adopted by retailers. We examine the economic incentives for retailers to adopt such high cosmetic standards and their impact on food loss. We build a sequential game between a retailer and a farmer, where the retailer signs a contract with the farmer specifying both the wholesale price and cosmetic quality standard. By adopting high cosmetic standards, retailers can motivate farmers to exert a higher effort to improve the cosmetic quality, e.g., using better seeds and applying more pesticides. As for the drivers of …

Valorization Of Carrot Processing Waste, Alexandra M. Duval
Master's Theses
Commercial carrot processors produce up to 175,000 tons of carrot waste annually. Carrot Mash (CM) is the term referring to the waste by-product of peeled baby carrot processing. Transportation of carrot processing waste is expensive due to its high- water content (approx. 83-95%). High in bioactive compounds (carotenoids) and dietary fibers, it is expected that its conversion into a value-added by-product is of interest to the carrot processing industry. Hemicellulose-rich plant materials have proven to be a source of oligosaccharides, which are known for their beneficial prebiotic activity. The objectives of this research were to: 1) determine the effect of …

Fruit, Flower, And Thorn: A Phenological Study Of 'Wonderful' Pomegranate, Kylie M. Mendonca
Master's Theses
‘Wonderful’ pomegranate flowering and fruiting habits are not well understood. Characterizing any relationship between flowering habit and fruit size and quality could lead to effective cultural practices for producing high-value fruit. Five mature ‘Wonderful’ pomegranate trees were monitored every 5-14 days throughout the 2015 growing season. Newly emerged flowers were tagged and characterized with respect to sex (determined by ovary shape and style length at anthesis), clustering habit, age of wood on which floral buds were borne, and direction of wood growth. More than 1,100 hermaphroditic flowers were identified and ovary/fruit diameter was recorded throughout the season. In addition to …

Analysis Of The Impact Of Central Bank Of Nigeria's Agricultural Intervention Funds On The Economy, E. T. Adamgbe, M. C. Belonwu, E. R. Ochu, I. I. Okafor
Economic and Financial Review
This paper set out to investigate the impact of Central Bank of Nigeria's interventions on the agricultural sector within an economy-wide framework of general equilibrium modelling. The paper adopted a dynamic (recursive), two-sector general equilibrium model of the Nigerian economy with some modifications on the standard model developed by the Centre for Econometric and Applied Research (CEAR) and incorporated the contributions of the CBN's agricultural based interventions as increases in the stock of agricultural capital to have a more robust size of interventions into the agricultural sector. The SAM used for the CGE model analysis was derived from the updated …

A History Of Zinnias: Flower For The Ages, Eric Grissell
Purdue University Press Book Previews
A History of Zinnias brings forward the fascinating adventure of zinnias and the spirit of civilization. With colorful illustrations, this book is a cultural and horticultural history documenting the development of garden zinnias—one of the top ten garden annuals grown in the United States today.
The deep and exciting history of garden zinnias pieces together a tale involving Aztecs, Spanish conquistadors, people of faith, people of medicine, explorers, scientists, writers, botanists, painters, and gardeners. The trail leads from the halls of Moctezuma to a cliff-diving prime minister; from Handel, Mozart, and Rossini to Gilbert and Sullivan; from a little-known confession …

Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences Faculty Publications and Presentations
Low-use-rate Zn fertilization methods have been developed and marketed for rice (Oryza sativa L.) fertilization with limited research validating their efficacy. Our research objectives were to evaluate the effect of Zn-seed treatment rate combined with six Zn-fertilization methods on early season canopy coverage, tissue-Zn concentration at the mid-tillering stage, and rice grain yield. The field experiment was conducted on six silt loams and one clay. Rice seed was treated with 0 or 3.3 g Zn kg(-1) as ZnO and combined with no Zn, granular ZnSO4 applied at 11 kg Zn ha(-1) (GRAN), 1.68 kg Zn ha(-1) as MicroEssentials (MESZ), 1.1 …

Novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) is a kind of respiratory diseases mainly caused by novel coronavirus, which can be transmitted through respiratory droplets and contact. At present, no effective drugs for it were found, and the treatment is mainly symptomatic and supportive. In addition to medical treatment, a scientific and reasonable diet is also an important part for improving nutritional health, enhancing disease resistance and defeating novel coronavirus pneumonia. Therefore, from the perspective of food nutrition, the authors discussthe intervention approaches of bioactive substance nutrition to defend against the novel coronavirus pneumonia, and put forward the policy recommendations for the development …

Effects Of Exopolysaccharide On Batter And Baking Characteristics Of Eggless Cake, Zhang Feng-Wen, Chen Cheng, Zhang Bin-Le, Cao Wei-Chao, Wang Feng, Chen Jun-Min, Huang Wei-Ning, Akihiro Ogawa
Food and Machinery
In this paper, the effects of exopolysaccharide (EPS) produced by lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on the foaming, surface hydrophobicity and liquid protein content of complex proteins during whipping were studied. LAB fermentation technology was applied in the production of eggless cakes and its effect on batter rheological, baking characteristic and crumb microstructure of eggless cake were evaluated. The results showed that the EPS produced by LAB significantly improved the foaming properties, increased surface hydrophobicity of complex protein and maintained the interface protein content by reducing competitive adsorption of emulsifiers during whipping. The number of bubbles increased and their distribution was …

Food and Machinery
To explore the scientific representation about the dynamic change of crab paste in pickling periods, fresh swimming crab was prepared for pickling the crab paste. Thereafter, the sensory and physical-chemical properties(pH, total volatile basic nitrogen, thiobarbituric acid, and free amino acid)and total plate count of different pickling periods (0, 6, 18, 30 and 42 h) were analyzed, and the correlation analysis and regression prediction model were carried out. The correlation analysis results showed that the free amino acid had no relation with sensory qualities. The flavor sensory properties such as fishy smell, sulfur smell, plumpness and flexibility were all significantly …

The heat-resistant strain was isolated and identified by morphological features and ITS rDNA gene sequence analysis. Some physiological and biochemical characteristics of the strain were examined by carbon source utilization experiment. The thermal stability and acid-base stability of the strain were examined by heat and acid-base treatment. With the ultrasonic technology, the polysaccharides, reducing sugar and pigment in cells were examined. The results indicated that the strain SR-1 belongs to Sporobolomyces carnicolor. It was heat-resistant, and grew stably after heat treatment at 80 ℃ for 5~30 min, and at 90 ℃ for 15 min. However, it couldn't grow after …
