Two and a half decades into the open access (OA) movement, rapid changes in scholarly communication are creating significant demands on scholars. Today’s scholars must wrestle with meeting funder mandates for providing public access to their research, managing and preserving raw data, establishing/publishing open access journals, understanding the difference between “green OA” and “gold OA,” navigating the complicated issues around copyright and intellectual property, avoiding potentially predatory publishers, adapting their tenure plans to OA, and discovering increasing amounts of OA resources for their research and their curricular materials. Librarians are deeply invested in the scholarly publishing lifecycle. This investment, in tandem with an evolving scholarly communication system, has encouraged librarians to become advocates for transformation in this landscape. At the same time, some faculty members have been slower to understand the complexities of the current system and its evolution. At Miami University, traditional communication methods weren’t sufficient to meaningfully engage faculty in these evolving trends. As a response, several librarians designed and cofacilitated two Scholarly Communication Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) for two academic years. The complexity and size of geospatial data can constrain the capabilities of service providers and create risks to the long term preservation and archiving of valuable information assets. While services oriented architectures such as the Earth Data Analysis Center's Geographic Storage, Transformation and Retrieval Engine (GSToRE1) facilitate increased use and impact of geospatial data by mitigating these complexities through the development of dynamic applications and interfaces, such services can often be primarily focused on the maintenance and delivery of only the most current versions of geospatial data that may nonetheless possess significant historical, cultural, or scientific value. This paper assesses the impact of “One Laptop Per Child Policy” on teaching and learning in basic schools in Ghana. Specifically, 500 students were randomly selected together with 10 information and communication technology (ICT) instructors in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Both questionnaire and in-depth interviews were used for gathering data. The data collected were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Findings of the study showed that stringent criteria are used to assess the needs of students and in the distribution of the laptops. A meeting between the IR librarian and Herbarium Curator Dr. Tucker thus began a project that would represent the maturing of The Keep into a substantial repository, involve both the IR librarian and the Head of Library Technology Services, and require steep learning curves in a number of areas including equipment procurement, metadata schema, data manipulation, and cross-platform communication. The paper analyses the growth pattern of cloud computing literature during 2009-2013 using web of science database. The cumulative publication output of top ten countries and India in the field accounts to 1879 publications. Total number of citations & high quality papers were also calculated. The growth in the publication is studied through Relative Growth Rate and doubling time. The authorship pattern is measured by different collaboration parameters like collaborative index and modified collaborative coefficient.

UCARE is the program for Undergraduate Creative Activity and Research at University of Nebraska–Lincoln. It gives college students the opportunity to be co-researchers and co-authors with university faculty. This presentation concerns the digital preservation and online distribution of those research products. It interprets the story of Noah's Ark, not as a historical fable, but as an existential one—an illustration of the digital flood constantly ongoing around us at every moment. The scholarly communications program and institutional repository at Grand Valley State University began in 2008, and in its first seven years, grew rapidly. Our team, recently-expanded, now includes three full time positions, and through our repository we host open textbooks, open-access journals, and thousands of documents. Our initial growth was organic and opportunistic, which enabled this initiative to successfully take root in the University Libraries. The next challenge for our scholarly communications program is to make sure those early roots are strong and healthy, so that we can sustain our initial success through the next seven years and beyond.

The collection, analysis, and reporting of metrics is a valuable tool for repository managers in measuring and assessing the growth and usage of their institutional repositories. These metrics are varied in nature and purpose, and can include download counts to measure readership of repository materials, numbers of uploaded items to measure repository growth, sources of inbound visitors to determine the success of search engine optimization, and names and numbers of contributing authors to measure faculty uptake.

The Christopher Center Library has no dedicated employees who work solely with its IR, ValpoScholar, and instead relies on a mix of interns and other employees to create records and upload works in their spare time. The OPUS repository at Governors State University, University Park IL was launched in May, 2014. The Repository replaces Dspace. Materials in the University Archives were reviewed for possible candidates for digitization and utilization of the Digital Commons Journal series structures for optimal showcasing of archived content of these defunct journals that originated at the University. Copies of the Journal of Communication Therapy, and Insight and Hindsight, journal were discovered in the University Archives, and identified for recovery of the publication's opus (filling in missing issues), digitization, and archival preservation. DePaul University Library created a suite of digital services to support faculty projects which addressed common hurdles to repository adoption. In a faculty survey we ran in the fall of 2014, faculty reported an unawareness of the repository, uncertainty of how they might use it. However, they also reported that they placed value on the repository services we presented to them and a desire to hear more information. The American Library Association’s (ALA) “Library Bill of Rights” sets six basic standards for all libraries to follow.
