From a Presentation given at ELUNA Learns, September 8, 2021. This presentation discusses the importance of using quality data in describing non_English Language material, as often errors negatively impact searching and public displays. By correcting the language codes, add 800 paired MARC fields, and correcting Diacritics the library can improve the quality of these records.

Converting the online catalog to a cloud-based system. The library’s software-based catalog experienced technical issues whenever the hospital’s Information Technology department performed updates, and remote access to the system was not available. The authors describe the process of successfully converting the online catalog to a cloud-based system with remote access. It was critical for the library staff to preserve data from the former system. The initial step was to download the statistics from the former system to preserve them for future use. OBJECTIVE In January 2020, the Library migrated to a new Library Management System (LMS), Ex Libris Alma and Primo, that combines the functionality of a discovery service and the features of a traditional catalog. The Library’s eBooks, which were previously only accessible via a discovery service, are now discoverable along with other library resources via one access point. The objective of this study is to measure eBook usage over the 2017-2020 period as one means of determining the effect of user access points on eBook usage.

This study investigates the acceptance of digital library system (Digilib system) by students and librarians of the State Islamic University of North Sumatera (UIN Sumatera Utara) Medan. It highlights the system’s rate of acceptance from the perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), behavioural intention to use (IU), and actual system usage (AU). Furthermore, the study investigates the problems in using the system and the users’ strategy in coping with the problems. Following the trend of repurposing library space to meet modern user needs, Western University is undergoing a planned revitalization and renovation of its largest library on campus. As a result, 500,000 items will need to be shifted to other locations or off-site storage. In this session we will outline the impact of metadata work in shifting this large collection of material to a shared print preservation storage facility, in coordination with Western University’s Keep@Downsview partnership (https://downsviewkeep.org/). This case study describes a multi-year project to reclassify the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ (UNLV) University Archives. UNLV’s Special Collections and Archives decided to rethink and reorganize University Archives based on data collected during an archival collections survey. The steps included moving away from the existing record series classification and implementing a new collection classification schema that will improve discovery and access. This study outlines steps taken during the survey and describes how staff analyzed existing collection records and metadata in order to create more cohesive intellectual control of archival materials across the Special Collections and Archives Division. Despite the widespread adoption of streaming video by academic libraries, there has been little discussion about how video content is discovered and accessed through the library catalog as compared to vendor platforms. This article explores the current status of video resources in the library catalog to better understand how users find and access streaming content. MARC records were evaluated, and searches were performed to gauge issues related to metadata quality and its impact on discovery. The study reveals new trends in how users access streaming content for teaching, learning, and research.
