The Lucile Baird papers contains 13 photographs and 4 letters related to the Baptist Memorial Hospital (later Memorial Hospital). The photographs depict hospital staff, interns, nurses, and students. Robert Jolly and Lillian Wilson Burnett Jolly appear in a few photographs, and they are the correspondents with Lucile Baird. Letters include Christmas greeting cards and Baptist Hospital stationary. Photographs and letters appear to have annotations by the creator as well as her niece, Carol Wilde. See more at MS 249.

Georgia Southern makes available a variety of equipment for student check out including a fleet of approximately 200 laptops, high-end digital cameras, tripods and lighting kits, video recording equipment, high-end microphones, and more. Equipment checkout is popular with students with equipment cycling in and out. Equipment also presents unique cataloging challenges. MARC was designed for books, and providing a good search for pulling statistics for non-traditional items can be a challenge. Libraries and archives have differing opinions on how much effort to put into content description. Yet, descriptive practices meant to reduce processing time and increase exposure to collections can have unintended impacts on long-term user discovery. This project tests minimal and full description to determine the effects on discoverability.

This collection includes photographs, manuscripts, and reprints related to Dr. John Bowers' involvement with the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC). Of particular note are 58 black-and-white photographs of Nagasaki, Japan, taken by Captain Shields Warren (MC) in 1947. There is also a photograph showing Dr. Bowers alongside Carl Tessmer reviewing plans for the ABCC laboratory-clinic in Hiroshima, and another featuring the groundbreaking of the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF). A third set of photographs depicts Berlin, Germany during the Cold War. See more at MS 242.

This collection consists of photographs, clippings, publications, a thesis review, and correspondence relating to the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC). Most of the materials date from 1948 to 1962, although some items are undated. Cavagnaro's review of "War Guilt and Medical Research" is from 1992. This presentation details remediation work done on harmful legacy metadata as part of the Syracuse University Libraries digital collections migration of the Sideshow Performers Collection, which contains digitized images from the Ronald G. Becker Collection of Charles Eisenmann photographs. The discussion focuses on deconstructing the legacy information and reconstructing it in ways that center the individual performer depicted, rather than portraying them as a medicalized specimen.

Abstract.

This study examined the University of Zambia students and researchers’ perception of the relevance of open access resources in their academic and professional work.The investigation was based on continued problem of low usage of online resources provided by the University of Zambia Library to support learning, teaching and research in the University. The study used a mixed-methods approach and took a case study-mixed methods design to investigate the research problem.

On October 6, 2022, the Washington and Lee Law Library hosted the fourth W&L Law Fall Scholarship Celebration. The event was co-sponsored by the Frances Lewis Law Center and took place in the Law Library's main reading room from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

On display were dozens of scholarly articles, books, and chapters authored by the W&L Law faculty and student body between October 2019 and October 2022, with hundreds of additional works accessible online through the Scholarly Commons institutional repository.

The paper highlights the perception of the users of the Dhanvantri library of the University of Jammu regarding e-learning in the current time of the pandemic. The role of e-learning is to extend learning effectively in addition to the technological tools and devices to the existing learning. A total of 278 respondents responded with complete information regarding the survey. In spring 2022, Furman University Libraries piloted an innovative program that provided student workers with foundational knowledge of digital accessibility concepts and facilitated their development of skills in creating, remediating, and checking the accessibility of Word and PDF documents.
