Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The paper brings out the results of a bibliometric analysis of the journal titled "Asia-Pacific Journal of Management Research and Innovation” published by Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi for the period from 2005 to 2015. The Anchor, Volume 129.18: March 2, 2016, Hope College
The Anchor: 2016
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
How does an academic library go about growing its own Scholarly Communication (SC) program with no budget, no staff, no dedicated office space, no partners, and no experience? The University of Central Florida Libraries responded to such a challenge during 2012-15 by creating a grassroots SC program staffed by a volunteer 20-member library faculty advisory group and creating an innovative “Research Lifecycle” model to help define an evolving menu of SC resources and services that could be turned on, as available, to UCF constituents.

Special Collections and University Archives are one of the main avenues of support for alumni, university foundations, and attracting new students. Special Collections demonstrate the level of importance the university places on its history within the community, making collecting, arranging, and preserving the history crucial to development. The task of collecting historical documentation can be a challenge for a young university. The challenges present opportunity for trained professional to use new and innovation methods to collect archival materials.

Meeting First-Year Students Where They Are: Creating Partnerships To Maximize Student Success, Cat Silvers, Heather Snapp
Library Faculty Presentations & Publications
Academic librarians often seek ways to lure students into the library for instruction, programming, and services. But why not reach first year students that do not visit the library by bringing the services to them? Partnering with existing departments and campus events, librarians can reach many more students by leaving the building and providing library information and services where students live and hang out. Providing workshops in the residence halls and research assistance in the Student Support Services office, working with minority and first generation students, and offering information sessions in the Intercultural Center allows students to utilize the expertise …

Recent studies show a growing sense of frustration for new library and information science (LIS) graduates who struggle to gain employment, as well as for hiring libraries who find the skills of entry-level employee candidates to be lacking. This study endeavors to discover the origins of this troubling juxtaposition by examining the perceptions of recent LIS graduates. The researchers administered a large-scale survey with over 575 respondents, analyzed and coded the data, and compared codes using a Cohen’s kappa calculation. The responses indicate that LIS graduates feel that their LIS education would have been more valuable had it given them …
Process Makes Perfect: Asking Your Target Audience What They Really Want To Know About You, Nichole M. Rustad
Process Makes Perfect: Asking Your Target Audience What They Really Want To Know About You, Nichole M. Rustad
Roesch Library Staff Publications
Libraries often find themselves communicating programs and services to different audiences — students, faculty, donors and the community. So what happens when you are tasked with creating a marketing piece to pique donors’ interest? How do you know what they want to know about you, and what do they already know? Accurately assessing what your audience already understands about your library services can be a challenging aspect of your project. This column describes how an academic library in Ohio learned more about its target market to create a piece that could bring about the results it wanted.

A Conceptual Model For Video Games And Interactive Media, Rachel I. Clarke, Jacob Jett, Simone Sacchi, Jin Ha Lee
A Conceptual Model For Video Games And Interactive Media, Rachel I. Clarke, Jacob Jett, Simone Sacchi, Jin Ha Lee
School of Information Studies - Faculty Scholarship
In this paper, we describe a conceptual model for video games and interactive media. Existing conceptual models such as the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) are not adequate to represent the unique descriptive attributes, levels of variance, and relationships among video games. Previous video game-specific models tend to focus on the development of video games and their technical aspects. Our model instead attempts to reflect how users such as game players, collectors, and scholars understand video games and the relationships among them. We specifically consider use cases of gamers, with future intentions of using this conceptual model as a …

The referrals by country report shows the the top level country domain for sites that have directed users to cholars' Mine. Over the years, fewer and fewer browsers and search engines have passed along referral information, so this report now includes only a small fraction of repository traffic. This is why the numbers reported in Referrals reports will be lower than in Hits reports. Additionally, report will not include any referrals from three-letter domains, such as .com, .edu, or .org, as these referrals are assumed to come from sites in the United States. Wikipidia provides a complete list of country …

This report shows how often visitors have downloaded an item published to the repository and/or viewed the metadata page for an item. Most "hits" will come directly from full-text downloads, however some readers interact with the repository by browsing and searching the site, typing a URL from a citation, or clicking links in search results. These actions are reflected in the number of metadata page hits an item receives.

Making Strategic Decisions: Conducting And Using Research On The Impact Of Sequenced Library Instruction, Kacy Lundstrom, Pamela N. Martin, Dory Cochran
Library Faculty & Staff Publications
This study explores the relationship between course grades and sequenced library instruction interventions throughout psychology students’ curriculum. Researchers conducted this study to inform decisions about sustaining and improving program integrations for first- and second-year composition courses and to improve discipline-level integrations. Researchers began with transcript analysis but soon incorporated student surveys and a faculty focus group to supplement the data and influence future directions. Findings confirmed that students benefit from meaningful collaborations with the library at strategic, sequenced points in their curriculum, including at the discipline level. This research also provided concrete information that brought about change at the classroom …

Nsuworks Annual Report 2015-2016, Michele Gibney
Brochures, Pamphlets, and Reports of the NSU Alvin Sherman Library
In 2014 Nova Southeastern University celebrated its 50th Anniversary. In conjunction with the anniversary, the NSU Libraries determined a need to preserve the past, present and future of the university by creating a campus wide repository for all scholarship, creative work, and historical materials produced by the university. NSUWorks is a part of the NSU Libraries’ contribution to the university’s ongoing growth and success as an internationally recognized research institution. NSUWorks was officially launched at the Dean’s Meeting on November 2014, and reached its two year anniversary at the end of February 2016. The NSUWorks Annual Report covers the …

There are some extra, important bits of information that make a big difference in cataloging and finding musical works. [excerpt]
