The present study focuses on the effectiveness of measures taken at 82 research center libraries of VTU, Karnataka. The effectiveness with regard to the various methods adopted to acquire required information resources, use of library budget, maintenance of library stack, managing periodical and reference section, internet center are also discussed. The tribology research output in BRIC countries for a period of five years from 2006 to 2010 was analysed. SCOPUS database has been used to retrieve the bibliographic records for the study period. The authors analyzed the document type, authorship and publication pattern of tribology research output among the BRIC countries. Statistical methods and scientometric tools such as, growth rate, collaboration co-efficient, co-authorship index and transformative activity index are used for the study. The core objective of this paper is to study the impact of IT on human resources serving in the university libraries of Pakistan. To achieve this objective a questionnaire survey of 82 university libraries from public and private sector was conducted. Respondents were asked to express their opinion about 10 statements to measure their perceptions about impact of information technology on human resources. A five point Likert Scale was used to rate the statements. Descriptive (Min., Max., Mean, Median, Mode, SD) and inferential (t-test) statistics was used to analyze the data.

This study investigated the awareness and use of Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) by students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. A questionnaire was distributed to 800 students at various faculties and in different levels of studies in August 2012. Five hundred and twenty copies of the questionnaire was retrieved and used for the study. Bibliometric analysis for 160 theses and 739 thesis articles collected from the Botany Department at The University of Burdwan in eight subdivisions of Botany during 1960-2000 has been carried out to determine year wise productivity, authorship pattern and collaboration. The study has identified that the highest number of thesis submission was 40 during 1981-1985 and the highest number of article submission was 189 during 1976-1980. The authors performed a citation analysis of 15 source papers that were written in the field of corrosion chemistry. Each of the source papers were written on the specific topic of the corrosion of mild steel. This study was conducted to assess the distribution of librarians by university, gender, years of experience and qualification and to determine the influence of user education marketing strategy on students’ use of libraries in four Nigerian Universities. The paper discussed the impact of electronic information resources as an enabler of research activities in Hezekiah Oluwasanmi Library, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. A structured questionnaire was used to survey the opinions of the researchers who are the regular users of the library under study.

The study showed various electronic information resources available and the degree of its utilization by the researchers and postgraduate students. There is a significant influence of level of availability of electronic information resources on utilization [F(3,79) = 10,337, P<0.05]. The study also revealed that only 6.0% of respondents use e-resources frequently thus, the usage of e-resources is still very low in the university community. Consequently, it was recommended that the library should organize teaching of information literacy skills through user education programmes.
