It is a fact that acquisition and application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) contribute positively to effectiveness of academic libraries’ delivery of information services. The extent to which this is the case in Nigeria was interrogated in this study in order to justify the huge investment in ICT. Survey research design was adopted. This study aims to investigate or verify whether gender affects the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities among academics. The study used a survey approach that involved questionnaires to solicit data from 154 academics. For the past few years, an assortment of ICT facilities such as computers, laptops, projectors, printers and many others have been available to academics for accessibility and use in collaboration, teacher-student communication, online assignment, research, teaching and learning.

This paper traced origin of library and information science education in Nigeria to the advent of new technologies in academic libraries. It investigated professional competencies that are currently expected of library professionals in academic libraries. The population comprised 89 professionals in South East of Nigeria Federal Universities. Copies of a structured questionnaire were used for data collection from respondents. The present study has been carried out on the extent of self-citations in Annals of Library and Information Studies during the period of 2002-2012. The results indicate that 53.72% of the articles contain self-citations. Out of total 5261 citations, the 636 (12.08%) citations are self-citations. Frequency of self-citations per article ranges from one to forty three. Almost 1/5th authors have cited themselves. Most of the citations appear in the present title of the journal. The most self-citing author is V. L. Kalyane from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai.

In this study, the researcher attempted to relate user education programmes of ASCETA and AIFCE with library use. Validated structured questionnaire and interview schedule were used to collect data. A study was conducted to assess the quality of websites of five selected public universities in Tanzania. The main purpose of the study was to understand the quality of university websites from users’ perspectives. This study employed a 22-item instrument measuring four dimensions of web quality namely technical adequacy, information quality, service ability and web appearance.
