Besides studying the morphological characteristics of karst caves in order to achieve the objectives of the study, this article is based on the descriptive and analytical approach to study and analyze the data of the phenomenon in question. The research aimed to study and analyze the changes of Land Use/Cover and the vegetation patterns in Muhayil Asir Governorate during the period 1990-2019 using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System. Imageries from Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) and Sentinel-2 were used. The visuals underwent the pre-processing and classification analysis using the supervised classification method. The results of the accuracy assessment were 91.02% for the producer's accuracy and 89.9% for the consumer's accuracy. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of immigrant health workers in OECD nations, and intensified debates about the current and future supply and distribution of such workers, particularly nurses. This review paper considers internationally educated nurses in the case of Ontario, Canada, and the policy responses developed during the pandemic to address the increased utilization of immigrant health workers. To further consider the evolving place of migrant workers within health, the broader issue of the future of health care work is examined to imagine what a sustainable and resilient health workforce agenda that integrates internationally educated nurses might look like.

In order to fulfill Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) certification obligations to the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), this project delineated areas within Hoyt Arboretum where tree hazards have the potential to fall on important infrastructure and areas of frequent use. The project utilized Metro’s RLIS lidar data to generate a canopy height model which was then applied to a variable window filter (vwf) algorithm to determine individual tree heights and locations throughout the park. Geospatial technologies (GST), are a group of professional technologies, including GIS (Geographic Information Systems), used by industries to make informed decisions with spatial data. This study investigated educator behavioral intention to use GIS/GST in classroom practice, and the moderating effect, if any, of the GeoInquiry, a curricular resource. During the COVID lockdowns of 2020/21, the transmission of live or recorded concerts grew exponentially as festival makers embraced digital technologies to a greater degree. Investigating how this digital pivot interrupted festival-making practices is now important given that online and hybrid modes will potentially be used in conjunction with in-person events in the future. This task has relevance for rural areas where digital infrastructures can be under-developed. Yet, place-based, community-organised festivals can play a significant role in sustaining local communities. Throughout the 1930s, the HOLC created residential security maps which graded residential areas from best to hazardous. This study investigated the connection between the proximity of industry to HOLC-graded zones on residential security maps in the top 50 most populous metropolitan regions in the United States in 1930, utilizing both geospatial and textual analysis. In ArcGIS Pro, ModelBuilder was used to automate the process of identifying and separating HOLC graded zones, creating buffers around industrial land use polygons, clipping the buffers to the HOLC graded zones, and calculating the area of the HOLC graded zones in proximity to industrial area. …

Tornadoes move and evolve throughout their lifetime, causing several types of forces against objects. Although vehicles are observed to fly in real tornadoes, simulating this experimentally and numerically has been very difficult – the vehicles do not seem to want to fly. We studied the effect of pressure gradient forces. These have typically been ignored in past simulations, so we estimated them to see if they add the missing force to get things to fly. Refugees experience shrinking social, economic, political, and physical spaces at astonishing rates. However, these shrinking spaces are challenging to trace simultaneously and are rarely considered in policymaking or analysis. Using the Rohingya case study, this paper implores policy analysis to include these spaces, conceptually categorizing them into physical, social, and psychological spaces. Here we chronologize the plight of Rohingya refugees and identify how their spaces have changed over time. Our findings reveal four primary causal relationships linked to Rohingya refugees' fluctuating spaces, including: (I) Bangladesh's policy framework has kept the Rohingya largely isolated, yet their public-private partnerships have expanded their …

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on urban households in the Global South has not yet been adequately explored, despite an emerging consensus that impacts of the pandemic were more severe in urban than rural Africa. This paper addresses the knowledge gap by examining the relationship between pandemic precarity and food insecurity in Ghana’s urban areas during the pandemic in 2020. The data comes from the World Bank (WB) and Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) COVID-19 High-Frequency Phone Survey. • Agricultural tillage has dramatically reduced the amount of SOC in soils through mineralization and erosion.

Gradual urbanization of a watershed in Toronto, Canada, over 60+ years resulted in major channel changes. The temporal and spatial extent of channel widening are predictable from new analysis tracking changes in total stream power along the river system as urban land cover extended across the watershed, and also produced very high energy large flood events responsible for major channel change. The analysis is a geomorphically-satisfying, quasi-experimental test of theory of river channel change. Geomorphic river design strives for natural resilience by encouraging geomorphic form complexity and morphological processes linked to greater habitat diversity. Increasing availability of high-resolution topographic data and spatial feature mapping methods provide advantages for morphological analysis and river restoration planning. We propose and evaluate an approach to quantifying topographic variability of geomorphic form and pixel-level surface roughness resulting from channel planform geometry differences using spatially continuous variety computation applied to component metrics including flow direction, aspect and planform curvature. The multidimensionality of food security can confound both statistical modelling and clear policy narratives. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a shallow surface geophysical method for characterizing the subsurface and locating underground utilities and point objects. It works in freshwater environments, making it a useful tool for imaging lake bottom bathymetry and stratigraphy. Our study site is a deep and organic kettle lake called Flat Iron Lake (Figure. 7; 43°07'23.8"N 85°23'05.8"W). The water level at the time of collection was higher than normal due to heavy storms in the preceding weeks; as such the current depths are likely slightly shallower than what is presented.

What does it mean to map Indigenous presence onto lands that have been appropriated by settler colonial nation states? This chapter examines the challenges and potentials of re-inscribing Indigenous land relations through a digital mapping project, Indigenous Pennsylvania: Past, Present and Future. Situating itself within the growing scholarship of Indigenous cartographies, the chapter presents Indigenous Pennsylvania as an example of d-ecomedia, a shorthand we offer for ecomedia projects that foreground decolonial methodologies. Such methodologies prompt us to attend to a storied sense of Indigenous place-based relations through attention to Indigenous spatial and temporal modes of mediation.
