Supported by a variety of diversity and landscapes, the development of tourism in the Petungkriyono area is growing rapidly. Optimizing ecotourism services in the Petungkriyono forest without disrupting the ecosystem and damaging the environment can be done by limiting the number of visitors at tourism sites. I created this documentary on floating wetlands as part of a climate project led by the Student Society of Climate Change during my degree program. This project is a competition among South Asian countries to find solutions for climate change. My team, PK Team 22 from IBA Karachi, is among the top three teams in Pakistan and has reached the final round. The top two teams will receive a US fellowship and seed funding to continue their work.

Colombia produces nearly one million tons of irrigated rice annually, almost exclusively for domestic consumption, with 72% of this production driven by smallholder farmers. In the department of Tolima, rice farming plays a significant role in both the local political economy and the agrarian landscape. This dissertation engages with feminist political ecology, critical agrarian studies, and debates on agrarian transformation to examine the everyday manifestations of dispossession that shape the lives of smallholder farmers and farmworkers in rural Tolima. Population centroids are useful tools in describing the general trend of population movements. This paper uses population centroids to show the changing geography of the U.S. population between 1970 to 1990. Data of population counts of census tracts and census block groups were obtained from the Internet. With a geographical information system, weighted population centroids for each of the 48 states in the continental U.S., four census regions, and nine census divisions for 1970, 1980 and 1990 were calculated. The findings indicate that the westward movement of the U.S. population remains strong and that a southward trend of population movement …

The general decline in manufacturing employment is explored and contrasted with the overall growth in the number of service jobs over the period 1990-94. New York and Los Angeles suffered declines in both producer services and manufacturing employment, whereas in contrast, Cleveland and Detroit, for example, registered gains in both sectors. The majority of cities had both gains and losses. Employment in 7 categories was analyzed for the 20 largest U.S. metropolitan regions. New York and Washington DC exhibited some similarity in their roles as shapers of the services economy. Los Angeles, Chicago and Detroit were similar in the role …

The federal government's engagement in dealing with U.S. inner city concerns has been extensive although the results have not been satisfactory. In spite of repeated special considerations given to the problems, the lack of lasting solutions necessitated launching new urban empowerment zone and enterprise community projects in recent years. This paper reflects on the attempts made thus far to change inner city conditions and the inevitable challenges of development faced in market economies. While many attribute health disparities in Detroit residents to the phenomenon of food deserts, this essay takes a closer look at such a seemingly obvious explanation and critically examines the concept of food deserts. This essay argues that the commonly held definition of food desert is inadequate for describing the complexities of a setting such as Detroit, and the true cause of the health disparities between the city and surrounding suburbs can be attributed to the lower socioeconomic status of the average Detroit resident, itself a product of racist housing policies and segregationist laws.

A survey instrument was employed to examine: the present and future computer infrastructure of Ohio's public high schools; technology funding; and the GIS awareness and perceptions of selected Ohio high school educators. Results suggest that introducing computer technology into the educational framework is a priority to Ohio's administrators and teachers alike. Furthermore, the number of technology funding sources is increasing, as is the number of dollars spent on computer technology. However, computer use in Ohio's public high schools is not ubiquitous.
