Goal Commitments And The Content Of Thoughts And Dreams: Basic Principles, Eric Klinger
Goal Commitments And The Content Of Thoughts And Dreams: Basic Principles, Eric Klinger
Psychology Publications
A few empirically supported principles can account for much of the thematic content of waking thought, including rumination, and dreams. (1) An individual’s commitments to particular goals sensitize the individual to respond to cues associated with those goals. The cues may be external or internal in the person’s own mental activity. The responses may take the form of noticing the cues, storing them in memory, having thoughts or dream segments related to them, and/or taking action. Noticing may be conscious or not. Goals may be any desired endpoint of a behavioral sequence, including finding out more about something, i.e., exploring …

Ground Penetrating Radar Use In Three Contrasting Soil Textures In Southern Ontario, Amanda C. Lowe, David V. Beresford, David O. Carter, Franco Gaspari, R. Christopher O'Brien, Shari L. Forbes
Ground Penetrating Radar Use In Three Contrasting Soil Textures In Southern Ontario, Amanda C. Lowe, David V. Beresford, David O. Carter, Franco Gaspari, R. Christopher O'Brien, Shari L. Forbes
Forensic Science Publications
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is a non-invasive, geophysical tool that can be used for the identification of clandestine graves. GPR operates by detecting density differences in soil by the transmission of high frequency electromagnetic waves from an antenna. Domestic pig (Sus scrofa domesticus) carcasses were clothed in 100% cotton t-shirts and 50% cotton/50% polyester briefs, and buried at a consistent depth at three field sites of contrasting soil texture (silty clay loam, fine sand and fine sandy loam) in southern Ontario. GPR was used to detect and monitor the graves for a period of 14 months post-burial. Analysis of collected …
The Impact Of Monitoring And The Affective Relationship Between Parents And Adolescents On Problem Behavior In High School, Kathleen Hlavaty
The Impact Of Monitoring And The Affective Relationship Between Parents And Adolescents On Problem Behavior In High School, Kathleen Hlavaty
Master's Theses and Doctoral Dissertations
Some researchers have suggested that the parent/adolescent affective relationship is key to understanding adolescent disclosure to parents regarding their activities (Kerr, Stattin, & Burk, 2010); however, other researchers do not feel that the parent/adolescent affective relationship explains enough variance in adolescent disclosure (Fletcher, Steinberg, & Williams-Wheeler, 2004). These models, however, have not tested for sex differences, which previous researchers suggest exist (Keijers, Branje, Finkenauer, & Meeus, 2010). Participants (N = 464; 50% female) were part of the Childhood and Beyond Study, which began during the 1986-87 school year. Data were collected from three different cohorts of participants across 13 years. …
Dose-Effect Vs. Good Enough Level: A Comparison Of Treatment Length And Maintenance Of Treatment Gains At Follow-Up Using The Outcome Questionnaire-45, John M. Suyama
Theses and Dissertations
This study examines psychotherapy response in connection to treatment duration and maintenance of treatment gains. The dose-effect perspective (Howard et al. 1986) first proposed applying medical terminology to investigate a level of exposure to a dose of psychotherapy (in number of sessions) where individuals can expect to receive sufficient benefit (i.e., 48 -- 58% of clients can be expected to sufficiently benefit from therapy by 8 sessions). The proponents of the Good Enough Level (Barkham et at. 2006) argued that mere exposure to therapy is not an effective measure for client benefit, but rather that client responses to therapy vary. …
