Jesup regarding his management of Jesup's land holdings in Kentucky and Jesup's involvement in the Second Seminole War in Florida; also one letter (1853) to John M. Typescript of a diary kept by Joseph Rogers Underwood, 1834-1850, in which he records everyday occurrences at home in Bowling Green, Kentucky and in Washington, D.C., where he served in the U.S. House of Representatives,1835-1843, and the U.S. Senate, 1847-1853. Interspersed throughout are comments by his second wife, Elizabeth (Cox) Underwood. Also includes a document containing information about Thomas Rogers and an “Account of the Escape of Prisoners from Fort Warren, Boston Harbor” written by Douglas Gordon.

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Reduced brain levels of docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6n-3), a neurotrophic and neuroprotective fatty acid, may contribute to cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease. Here, we investigated whether the liver enzyme system that provides docosahexaenoic acid to the brain is dysfunctional in this disease. Docosahexaenoic acid levels were reduced in temporal cortex, mid-frontal cortex and cerebellum of subjects with Alzheimer's disease, compared to control subjects (P = 0.007). Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores positively correlated with docosahexaenoic/α-linolenic ratios in temporal cortex (P = 0.005) and mid-frontal cortex (P = 0.018), but not cerebellum. Similarly, liver docosahexaenoic acid content was lower in Alzheimer's …

The Absolute Poison exhibit, curated by Laura J. Hall, MFA, delved into the fascinating and deadly world of poisons. From the ancient Sumerian goddess Gula, to Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and the infamous cyanide-laced Tylenol case of 1982, poisons have long held a place in our collective imagination. The exhibit explored the history, symbolism, and cultural impact of poisons, featuring materials such as Albrecht Dürer’s Adam and Eve with its skull and crossbones motif symbolizing death. On display from September 2010 to August 2011 at the UNM Domenici Center, the exhibit examined how poisons have shaped narratives of danger and mystery. September …

The Group Selection Questionnaire (GSQ; Cox et al., 2004) is a measure that has been developed to facilitate clinical decisions about a client's readiness for group psychotherapy. The GSQ has demonstrated an ability to predict which clients will experience a reduction in distress through the use of group psychotherapy. This dissertation examines the Group Selection Questionnaire's ability to measure client characteristics that predict the client's ability to benefit from receiving group psychotherapy compared to the ability to benefit from receiving another form of treatment, such as individual or a combination of individual and group psychotherapy, as measured by improved scores …

The existing small groups literature most often uses the small group as a way in which to study issues such as race, religion, and education rather than examining the ways in which the study of small groups provides a deeper understanding of larger social structures (Harrington and Fine 2000:314). I used participant observation in three urban knitting groups over approximately eight months and interviews with fifteen group members in total from each of the three groups to determine how entrée is achieved and boundaries are constructed in small group communities. Ireland has a history of health policy which is not explicit as to its aims and objectives. In light of this fact, this paper examines the position and direction of the Irish Health Services, five years on from the advent of the setting up of the Health Services Executive (HSE) and the restructuring of the health services.
