This study examined women's poverty through a new framework not just based on indicators of income and social factors alone. Although, there exists many studies of poverty, but tlie study of women's poverty from a gender perspective with the application of the Capability Deprivation approach is something rarely done. Two main approaches which looked at women's poverty using the capability deprivation approach which was introduced by Amartya Sen (1999) and gender and poverty approach which was introduced by Sylvia Chant (2003) were identified as the most appropriate approaches to analyze the research findings.
