The New Mexico Board Of Educational Finance: A Study Of The Coordination Of State-Supported Higher Education, Edward M. Goldberg

Political Science ETDs

The Board of Educational Finance of the State of New Mexico is a unique agency. No other state has a central coordinating board for its institutions of higher education quite like it. Established in 1951, the BEF can be considered as an experiment in the control of state-supported institutions of higher learning. It has, in its short history, attracted considerable attention and interest beyond the borders of New Mexico.

The Negro, The Supreme Court, And The "Separate But Equal" Doctrine, Peter M. Mitchell May 1956

The Negro, The Supreme Court, And The "Separate But Equal" Doctrine, Peter M. Mitchell

Bachelors’ Theses

The particular problem of this paper is to assemble all the Supreme Court cases relating to the "separate but equal" doctrine and that doctrine's relationship to the Negro race. The cases are assembled in the chronological order of their hearing and decision and with sufficient detail to give to each case its proper link in the chain of adaption of Federal law to changing economic and social conditions, and the growth of public intelligence and conscience.

In analyzing the cases that came before the Supreme Court, I do not mean to cast aspersions on the ability or integrity of the …

A Collapse Of Americanism, Daniel P. Miller May 1956

A Collapse Of Americanism, Daniel P. Miller

Bachelors’ Theses

Once, under the yellow skies of this new land, dwelt Indians, buffalo, and freedom loving pioneers. The Indians are now all but ·extinct, yet we have tried to save some of their tribes by instituting reservations. The buffalo, likewise, is all but extinct. Yet, we feel the necessity to preserve them, hence, we set up game reserves. The freedom loving pioneer, who built this country, is likewise extinct. Also absent from our land is his love of freedom and spirit of patriotism. Yet, here we, the people of the United States of America, have not found it necessary to initiate …
