To pursue a solution, the legal guidelines of the Clean Air Act will be examined, and the scientific and medical literature on ozone addressed. Once the proper ozone standard is determined, the remainder of the paper will focus on the ozone situation in Maine. Maine is treated as a case study of the ozone pollution problem in the United States. Problem. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact and influence of Indiana public school teachers and teachers unions on the political system of Indiana, 1956-1976. Method. Legislators were contacted personally durinB the 1976 General Assembly, using a questionnaire to structure a short interview. Those legislators who were not accessible during the thirty-day session of the Legislature were mailed a copy of the questionnaire along with a letter of explanation and two reference letters. Based on the entire population of 150 legislators, 120 legislators responded, representing a return of 80 percent. The responses of both the interview group …

The idea for this research originated with the work of Bruce M. Russett and Elizabeth Hanson in Interest and Ideology: The Foreign Policy Beliefs of American Businessmen. Their work in attempting to identify businessmen's reactions (and hence, beliefs) to events during the Indo-China War by movements in stock prices is, as far as I have been able to find, unique. LARRY TYLER, who finds myth and astronomy mingled in the rationale for prehistoric archeological sites, did his undergraduate work at Pittsburg State University and received his Ph. D. from the University of Missouri. He teaches sociology at Western Michigan University. He became interested in prehistoric sites while doing research in the Hebrides.

The Carter Administrative Elite: A Background Analysis, Susan Adomaitis Armstrong

This study is an inter-disciplinary analysis of the backgrounds of the Carter administrative elite. Various theories of political science, public administration, and ethics are presented in relation to Jimmy Carter's appointees. A background composite is presented of the elites' education, career before government service, age, sex, and geographic region of birth and socialization. Information about the elites was obtained from biographical listings, and was stored and processed by an electronic data processing system.

The Carter administrative elite has included persons who have been named to positions that do not maximize their experiences and qualifications in the most appropriate manner. This …
