KWRRI Research Reports
Soundly planned water resources development requires a knowledge of streamflow magnitudes and time patterns. Where recorded information is unavailable, water resources project design can be greatly improved by streamflow simulation.
This study is devoted to describing the application of a self-calibrating version of the Stanford Watershed Model to 17 rural Kentucky watersheds and two urbanizing watersheds. The required data for this version (OPSET) is tabulated and the data collection process is described. The watershed parameter values estimated by OPSET and independent numerical estimates of physical watershed characteristics are tabulated and correlated. The results should help in estimating parameter values for …

In the last several years monte-carlo simulation has become a major tool for the analysis of complex queuing systems which are no readily amenable to analysis by conventional mathematical methods. By a complex queueing system is mean a system composed of, physically or by analogy, a network of stations or servers with traffic units moving through all or some of the servers, into the system and out or around within the system. A traffic unit desiring service by a server may either have to enter a queue first or may be served immediately. Such systems have been simulated often with …
Simulating Regional Interindustry Models For Western States, William A. Schaffer, Kong Chu
Simulating Regional Interindustry Models For Western States, William A. Schaffer, Kong Chu
Applications
Although regional input-output models are now most frequently constructed on the basis of reasonably adequate surveys, simulation (estimating) techniques not based on original survey data are still in use by many regional scientists for quick and less costly results. We will modify our original aggregation procedures, examine our results through several statistical tests of tables constructed for three Western states, and discuss a possible correction procedure for improving raw estimates of interindustry transactions.

This thesis describes a computer simulation model for determining effective spares stock levels for recoverable items at Air Force bases and depots. The simulation model is based on the following fundamental inventory theory; whenever a demand arises, it is satisfied from stock on hand, and the quantity equal to that demand is recorded immediately; when a demand exceeds stock on hand, the excess demand is backordered immediately and when item life expires procurement action is initiated at depot level. The resulting product of the model cam be used as a guide for the optimum distribution of available spares or as …
