On Univalent Functions With Three Preassigend Values, Y. Avci, E. Zlotkiewicz

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, univalent functions with three preassigend values are studied. The sharp bounds for the first coefficient are obtained. Moreover, the coefficient problem for a subclass of such functions is completely solved.

Communication between various broadcast equipment plays a major role in the daily operation of a typical broadcast facility. For example, editing equipment must interface with tape machines, production switchers must interface with font generators and video effect equipment, and satellite ground controllers must interface with satellite dishes and receivers. Communication between these devices may be a simple hardware handshake configuration or a more elaborate software based communications via serial or parallel interfacing. The adaptation of a number of existing image processing techniques for use with this kind of image is discussed, and the concept of using sets of tokens to represent the overall drawing i s explained in detail. We studied genetic divergence in a group of exclusively stygobiont isopods of the family Stenasellidae. In particular, we assessed evolutionary relationships among several populations of Stenasellus racovitzai and Stenasellus virei. To place this study in a phylogenetic context. we used another species of Stenasellus, S. assorgiai, as an outgroup. S. racovitzai occurs in Corsica, Sardinia and in the fossil islands of the Tuscan Archipelago, while S. virei is a polytypic species widely distributed in the central France and Pyrenean area. We report data on the spatial structure and seasonal variation of the community of Valmarino cave, a medium sized sandstone cave, located a few kilometres from the coast line, in Central Italy. Due to both its habitat features and its relatively recent geological history, Valmarino cave is only inhabited by terrestrial, troglophilic elements, i.e facultative cave dwellers. By means of monthly censuses and density plot estimates we have investigated species abundance, diversity and their spatial organization, by considering separately samples from different cave sectors. Of the 29% foreign members in the Société de Spéléologie, five lived in the USA. They were Luella Owen (the only woman member of the Société), R. Ellsworth Cali, H.C. Hovey, E Van Epps and C. R. Blackall. E.S. Balch, though not a member, also knew Martel. These members, between them, published ten papers in Spelunca, which also reviewed their other work. The activities of these six, and their links with France, are discussed. Potential For Coastal Flooding Due To Coseismic Subsidence In The Central Cascadia Margin, Elson T. Barnett

Interpretations made from compilation of existing core and cutbank data for Oregon and Washington are used to evaluate the potential flooding impact from regional coseismic subsidence. Estimates of regional subsidence are based on tidal level indicators including plant macrofossils, peat development, and diatoms. A compilation of existing late Holocene stratigraphic records shows multiple burial events in all bays of Oregon, however some coastal sites in central Oregon show continuous submergence. Tests of tidal level indicators using modern Cascadia wetlands indicate that paleosubsidence can be estimated to 0.0 ± 0.5m, 1.0 ±0.5m, and 2 m ± 0.5m. An AMS date from …

C-linked disaccharides were synthesized from 3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-D-glucal 1 (1,5- anhydro-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-1,2-dideoxy-D-arabino-hex-I-enopyranose), 3,4,6-tri-O- acetyl-D-galactal 2 (1,5-anhydro-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-1,2-dideoxy-D-lyxo-hex-1- enopyranose) and 3,4-di-O-acetyl-L-fucal 3 (1,5-anhydro-3,4-di-O-acetyl-1,2,6-tri-deoxy- L-lyxo-hex-1-enopyranose) under Lewis acid catalysis (Scheme 1) and compound 4 was further derivatized at the double bond. Dihydroxylation of the glucose dimer 4 gave high allo-diastereoselectivity. The reactions used in the derivatization of 1 were subsequently applied to 2 and 3. The overall yield of 3 was improved to 70 %. All three glycals (10% solution in toluene) reacted quickly with boron trifluoride to give dimerization products in 40-60% yield. Obligate cave dwelling organisms are frequently characterised by a peculiar morphological syndrome, named troglomorphosis or troglobiomorphosis. This hypothesis, which deals with the evolutionary influence of the subterranean environment on cave organisms is far from being universally accepted. Yet it has been adopted by many authors and is often included in the definitions of the current classification of cave taxa. In this paper I present a test of the troglobiomorphosis hypothesis, using the case study of the cricket clade Amphiacustae (Orthoptera, Grylloidea, Phalangopsidae). After the successful colonization of a single ancestral species in the Hawaiian Islands, planthoppers of the cixiid genus Oliarus underwent intensive adaptive radiation resulting in 80 described endemic species. Oliarus habitats range from montaneous rain forests to dry coastal biotopes and subterranean environments. At least 7 independant evolutionary lines represented by different species have adapted to lava tubes on Molokai (1), Maui (3), and Hawaii Island (3). Behavioral and morphological studies on one of these evolutionary lines on Hawaii Island, the blind, flight- and pigmentless Oliarus polyphentus have provided evidence for reproductive isolation between allopatric populations which may in fact …

Androniscus dentiger is a terrestrial isopod distributed from Great Britain to North Africa, inhabiting humid edafic environments, superficial underground compartments and both natural and artificial caves. In this study allozyme data have been used to investigate the geographic variation and the genetic relationships of several populations of A. dentiger from Central Italy, using as outgroups populations from four congeneric species, A. calcivagus, A. cfr. subterraneus, A. spelaeorum, and A. degener. The differential cross section dσ/dt for elastic ρ0 photoproduction, γp → ρ0ρ (ρ0 → π+π-), has been measured in ep interactions at HERA. The squared four-momentum exchanged at the proton vertex, t, has been determined directly by measuring the momentum of the scattered proton using the ZEUS Leading Proton Spectrometer (LPS), a large scale system of silicon micro-strip detectors operating close to the HERA proton beam. The LPS allows the measurement of the momentum of high energy protons scattered at small angles with accuracies of 0.4% for the longitudinal momentum and 5 MeV for the transverse momentum. We estimate in the QCD sum rule approach the amount of the nucleon spin carried by the gluon angular momentum: the sum of the gluon spin and orbital angular momenta. The result indicates that gluons contribute at least one half of the nucleon spin at the scale of 1GeV².

The spectroscopy of high rotational levels (J ≤ 211) in Bi₂ X(O_g⁺) and A(O_u⁺) was investigated for 2≤v"≤5 and 0≤v'≤4 by observing total fluorescence from laser excitation. Dunham coefficients were derived that fit all observed rotational lines to within 0.01 cm^-1. Franck-Condon factors were calculated and experimentally verified for transitions originating from the initially populated levels 0≤v'≤5. Vibrational energy transfer upon collision with rare gas collision partners was investigated for the low-lying vibrational levels of the A-state using spectrally resolved, continuous wave laser induced fluorescence. The first section of this paper reviews some spreadsheets of land-use profitability by soil type which were developed in a previous study, "The economic land capability assessment, Waroona to Capel". The second section discusses how externalities can be accounted for by developing a range of complementary approaches which reinforce property rights.

The spreadsheets reviewed were developed as an aid to aggregate land-use planning, and were proposed as a basis for determining transfer payments to reflect the social costs of phosphorus pollution. The spreadsheets were found to lack the flexibility needed to compare alternative management options, and considered inappropriate for dealing …
