The aim of this study was to investigate the freezability of Thai native crossbred (T) and purebred horse (F) sperm using different extenders. Semen samples were collected monthly from five T and four F stallions between 5 and 12 years of age. The extenders used were INRA-Y (E1), INRA-Y supplemented with 50 mM L-glutamine (E2), lactose-EDTA (E3) and lactose-EDTA supplemented with 50 mM L-glutamine (E4). One hundred and thirty two, one day old broiler chickens were divided into 4 groups. Group 1 (1 day old) was subcutaneously vaccinated with immune complex vaccine into the nape of the neck. Group 2 and 3 (14 days old) were vaccinated with different commercial products, intermediate-plus strains of live attenuated infectious bursal disease (IBD) vaccine I and II, respectively, via the oral route. The present study aimed to examine the general morphology of Thai swamp buffalo’s oviducts by light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) as well as the expression of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and progesterone receptor isoform B (PRB) by immunohistochemical technique at the prepubertal stage. The samples composed of the uterotubal junction (UTJ), isthmus, ampulla and infundibulum of prepubertal Thai swamp buffalo oviducts (n=6) were collected from a local slaughterhouse. Canine amniotic membrane (AM) transplantation in conjunction with a third eyelid flap was used to promote healing of created deep corneal ulcers in 6 normal mongrel dogs. The healing was compared with the healing of created ulcers in the other eye of the same dog that were treated only with the third eyelid flap. A minimum of 60 days interval was allowed between the two treatment procedures in the 2 eyes of each dog. Field trial of a Chimeric porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) (Suvaxyn PCV2®, Fort Dodge Animal Health, USA) vaccine was performed in order to investigate the efficacy on decreasing pathological lesions and PCV2 viremia in a PCV2-affected swine herd in Thailand. A herd was selected based on history and serological data. Three-week-old pigs (n = 200) were equally divided into two groups. The aims of this study were to investigate the meiotic competence of immature porcine oocytes following open pulled straw (OPS) vitrification and warming and also to test the efficiency of the pretreatment of immature oocytes with CB prior to OPS vitrification. Experiment 1, cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs) were randomly assigned to OPS vitrification, cryoprotectant (CPA) toxicity test and non-CPA/non-vitrified controls. Tissue reaction to a 316L stainless T plate fabricated for pelvic osteotomy was examined radiographically and histologically in 3 experimental mongrel dogs 52 weeks after plate implantation on the non-osteotomized ilium. The adverse effects of long-term plate implantation were assessed clinically and radiographically in 7 dysplatic hips of 5 dogs that had undergone triple pelvic osteotomy 3-5 years earlier. The plates were removed from the experimental dogs for corrosion evaluation 52 weeks after the implantation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the expression of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and progesterone receptor (PR) in normal mammary tissues of bitches before and after the bitch was implanted with the GnRH agonist, deslorelin. Fifteen mature bitches with no pathological condition of the mammary gland, and during anestrus, were selected and divided into two groups: five bitches were implanted with placebo (placebo group); and the ten bitches were implanted with 9.4 mg deslorelin (deslorelin group). The objective of this study was to investigate the presence and distribution of the progesterone receptor (PR) in the Thai swamp buffalo oviduct at the follicular (n=10) and luteal phases (n=12). Reproductive tracts from mature female Thai swamp buffaloes were collected from a local slaughterhouse. Both ovaries were examined for the phase of estrous cycle and the oviducts were separated into the uterotubal junction (UTJ), the isthmus, the ampulla and the infundibulum. Tissue samples were subjected to immunohistochemical staining to assess the localization of PR in the epithelium, subepithelial connective tissue and smooth muscle. The study was conducted to investigate an antioxidant and acidifier properties of Roselle in fattening pigs. Twenty crossbred pigs were randomly allocated to 4 treatments with 5 replicates. Four diets were calculated to be isocaloric and isonitrogenous: control diet, control diet supplemented with antibiotic (Chlortetracycline) 50 mg/kg or acidifier (Fra® Acid Dry) 4 g/kg and diet containing Roselle calyx powder at the level of 40 g/kg. Twenty-two sick koi with cumulative mortality showed clinical signs of depression, brachial hemorrhage and necrosis, focal hemorrhage, pale patches and ulcers on the skin. Clinical examination showed the heavy infection by opportunistic organisms such as Dactylogyrus sp., Gyrodactylus sp. and Saprolegnia sp. of the skin, gill and fins. Histopathologically, the gill showed severe acute diffuse necrosis of the branchial epithelial cells and severe diffuse lymphocytic-monocytic interstitial nephritis with necrosis of the tubular epithelial cells were predominantly found in most sick fish. Estrogens are known to be an important modulator for regulation of the reproductive function in female mammals. The specific receptor of estrogens in the buffalo reproductive tract, particularly in the oviduct, has not been explored yet in the expression pattern. This study was, therefore, undertaken to investigate the localization of the estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) in the oviduct of Thai swamp buffalo at the follicular and late luteal phases of the estrous cycle. The objective of this study was to elucidate ovarian follicular dynamics in swamp buffalo cows (Bubalus bulalis) following a protocol for estrus synchronization during hot as low breeding season (March to June) and cool as high breeding season (November to February). Nine pluriparous buffalo cows received a progesterone ear implant for 10 days together with the administration of a luteolytic dose of PGF2α at the time of implant removal to start the estrus cycle. The effect of dietary ingredients such as fish meal, rock phosphate and roxarsone on the accumulation of arsenic residues in breast meat, liver and heart was examined in Arbor Acre broilers from days 1-43 of age. Broilers receiving diets containing fish meal had a significantly greater amount of arsenic in breast muscle than other groups. There was a positive correlation between muscular arsenic concentration and dietary fish meal levels. Withdrawal of fish meal for a week prior to slaughter reduced the muscular deposition of arsenic. Chicks receiving roxarsone had significantly higher arsenic level in the liver compared to other groups …
