A total of 835 fecal samples collected from client-owned and community cats between 2014 and 2016 were subjected to wet fecal smear and/or PBS-ethyl acetate and/or ZnSO4 centrifugal flotation. Ancylostoma spp. was the most common, 28.5%, followed by 6.7% Toxocara spp., 5.3% Cystoisospora spp., 4.4% Platynosomum fastosum, 2.5% Taenia taeniaeformis, 1.7% Strongyloides spp., 1.4% Spirometra spp., 1.3% Dipylidium caninum, 0.1% Eucoleus aerophilus and 0.1% Opisthorchis-like trematode egg. For retroviruses, FeLV and FIV were positive 7.1% (19/269) and 5.2% (14/269), respectively, without association with endoparasitic infection. Tumors of the oral cavity account for 8% of all canine neoplasia. Malignant oral mass such as melanoma, oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and fibrosarcoma covers approximately 59% of canine oral neoplasia. Among these, canine oral melanoma (COM) is the most common oral tumors in dogs, with approximately 30–40% of all oral tumors. With high recurrence and/or distant metastasis rate, biomarkers are required for early detection, diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring treatment response. Infectious ulcerative keratitis is one of the significant ocular diseases in dogs leading to aggressive damage of the cornea and possibly loss of vision. Canine amniotic membrane (CAM) transplant revealed satisfactory result in canine complicated ulcers. However, antimicrobial activity of CAM has not yet been elucidated. This study is to assess antimicrobial activities of fresh CAM on bacteria associated with ulcerative keratitis and to investigate antimicrobial peptide genes expression. Actinobacillus suis is considered an opportunistic pathogen in swine that can cause disease in animals of all ages, especially in high health status herds. The objective of this study was to developed an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using boiled whole cell antigen for the detection of antibody against A. suis. The selected herd has clinical problems associated with A. suis infection. Duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV), an emerging infectious disease in ducks, belongs to the Ntaya virus group of the Flavivirus genus in the Flaviviridae family. The emergence of DTMUV has been observed in layer and breeder duck farms in China since 2010 and in layer and broiler duck farms in Thailand since 2013. Infected ducks show neurologic signs, including an incapability to stand, ataxia, and paralysis. A significant drop in egg production is usually observed among layer ducks. Influenza A virus causes respiratory disease in many species such as birds, horses, pigs, dogs and cats as well as humans. This thesis consists of 5 phases. Phases 1 was monitoring of canine influenza virus infection in Thailand. Phase 2 was determining the intravenous pathogenicity index of Thai canine influenza virus. Phase 3, 4 and 5 were investigating the pathogenicity of canine influenza viruses in dogs, chickens and guinea pigs, respectivly. Our results showed that 0.97% of canine serum samples (9/932) and 1.20% of feline serum sample (1/79) were tested positive for influenza A antibodies by NP-ELISA. Six serum samples …

Brachycephalic airway obstruction syndrome (BAOS) is an anatomical abnormality of upper airway commonly found in brachycephalic breeds leading to clinical signs and physical capacity impairment. The purposes of this study were to compare clinical signs and physical capacity in French bulldogs between before and after surgical correction using questionnaire and 6-minute walk test (6-MWT). Twenty-seven French bulldogs were enrolled in this study and divided into normal group (n=7) and BAOS group (n=20). Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a common complication in DMVD that can worsen the clinical signs, cardiac function, and median survival time of DMVD dogs. A novel multiplex PCR (mPCR) was developed to identify and differentiate malaria parasite (Plasmodium caprae), and two piroplasms (Babesia bigemina and Theileria luwenshuni) in Thai goats. Three pairs of primer were designed to be species-specific, targeting cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene in mitochondria. Plasmids containing each parasite’s DNA was serially diluted to evaluate the sensitivity of singleplex and mPCR assays. งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของการใช้กากชา ต่อประสิทธิภาพการใช้อาหาร การย่อยได้ปรากฏ การเปลี่ยนแปลงของเมทาโบไลท์ในเลือด และการผลิตก๊าซมีเทน ในอาหารที่ใช้เลี้ยงแพะนมลูกผสม วางแผนการวิจัยแบบสลับ (3 x 3 crossover design) โดยใช้แพะนมลูกผสมพันธุ์ซาแนนจำนวน 9 ตัว น้ำหนักเฉลี่ย 30 ± 3.50 กิโลกรัม เป็นแม่แพะที่ผ่านการคลอดมาแล้ว (multiparous) และอยู่ในช่วงให้ผลผลิตน้ำนมหลังคลอด (lactation) การทดลองแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ช่วง โดยในช่วง 14 วันแรกจะเป็นช่วงของการปรับตัว ช่วงที่เหลืออีก 7 วันจะเป็นช่วงของการเก็บตัวอย่างและข้อมูล แพะแต่ละตัวได้รับอาหารทั้งสามสูตรที่มีการเสริมกากชาลงในสัดส่วนที่ 0 5 และ 10 เปอร์เซ็นต์น้ำหนักแห้งในรูปของอาหารผสมเสร็จ (Total mixed ration; TMR) (กลุ่มที่ 1 2 และ 3 ตามลำดับ) มีการคำนวณระดับโปรตีนและพลังงานเท่ากันทุกสูตร (isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets) ทำการเก็บตัวอย่าง ได้แก่ อาหาร เลือด ปัสสาวะ มูล น้ำนม และของเหลวจากกระเพาะรูเมน เพื่อที่จะประเมินค่าพารามิเตอร์ที่สังเกตหลายชนิด ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ไม่มีความแตกต่างกันทางสถิติในกลุ่มทดลองของปริมาณการกินได้ ผลผลิตน้ำนม ค่าเมทาโบไลท์ในเลือด (กลูโคส ไตรกลีเซอไรด์ โปรตีนรวม) ค่าพีเอชในกระเพาะรูเมน กรดไขมันระเหย (volatile fatty acids; VFAs) ค่าอัลลานโทอิน (allantoin) ค่าสมดุลไนโตรเจนและผลผลิตก๊าซมีเทน ส่วนประกอบของโปรตีนในน้ำนมในกลุ่มที่ 3 มีความแตกต่างกันทางสถิติ (p<0.05) เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มที่ 1 และ 2 ค่าการย่อยได้ของวัตถุแห้งในกลุ่มที่ 3 สูงกว่าในกลุ่มที่ 2 อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) แต่ไม่แตกต่างจากกลุ่มที่ 1 ส่วนกลุ่มที่ 2 มีค่าการย่อยได้ของสารอินทรีย์ โปรตีนและ NDF ต่ำที่สุดในทุกกลุ่ม อย่างไรก็ตาม กลุ่มที่ 3 มีค่าการย่อยได้ของ NDF และ ADF สูงที่สุดเมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มอื่น จากผลการศึกษาสรุปได้ว่า สามารถใช้กากชาได้ถึงระดับ 10 เปอร์เซ็นต์น้ำหนักแห้งในสูตรอาหาร เพื่อเป็นแหล่งโปรตีนในอาหารที่ใช้เลี้ยงแพะนมลูกผสมผสมซาเนนได้ โดยไม่ก่อให้เกิดผลเสียต่อปริมาณการให้ผลผลิตและนิเวศวิทยาในกระเพาะรูเมน อย่างไรก็ตาม การเสริมกากชาที่ระดับ 5 และ 10 เปอร์เซ็นต์น้ำหนักแห้งในสูตรอาหารไม่ส่งผลต่อการผลิตก๊าซมีเทน

The utilization of canine mesenchymal stem cells (cMSCs) with multipotent capabilities has been regarded for possible therapy of incorrigible bone disease. Although various sources of cMSCs show similar characteristics, they are different in osteogenic potential due to their original cellular sources. This study was designed to globally explore and analyze the in vitro differentiation potential and behavior of canine bone-marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (cBM-MSCs) and canine dental pulp stem cells (cDPSCs) toward osteogenic lineage. It is widely used in clinical dermatology such as acne, acne scar, photoaging, wrinkles, psoriasis, skin neoplasia and seborrheic dermatitis. Retinal is a pivotal key to regulate keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation in the epidermis resulting in epidermal thickening and inhibit collagen destruction in the dermis. In this study, we aimed to detect antimicrobial resistance determinants and virulence factor genes in V. parahaemolyticus isolates from cultivated oysters and estuarine waters in southern Thailand. A total of 594 V. parahaemolyticus isolates were collected from pooled oysters (n=361) and estuarine waters (n=233). The samples were collected monthly between March 2016 and February 2017 from Thap Put district, Phang Nga province in southern Thailand. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is highly limited to only cell subsets that express PRRSV receptors. Reproductive organ revealing the typical signs of PRRSV infection may be the critical site of problem syndromes. A total of 809 samples of pig rectal swab from slaughterhouses (n=441) and pork from retail market (n=368) were collected in the border provinces among Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar between October 2016 and March 2017. The objective of this study was to determine resistance to extended-spectrum ß-lactams (ESBLs) and colistin in Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli. A total of Salmonella (n=463) and E. coli (n=767) were collected and determined for the ESBL-production and for the Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs) of colistin and; the presence of ESBL gene and mcr gene. This study aimed to identify and characterize avian influenza viruses isolated from ducks in Java Indonesia during 2015-2017. Total 50 samples of previously identified as avian influenza viruses were acquired from the virus/culture collections of Disease Investigation Center (DIC) Wates Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Fifty stifles from Pomeranians and Chihuahuas with over five years old were enrolled in this study, which are 8 normal stifles and 42 medial patellar luxation (MPL) stifles. All MPL stifles were assigned randomly into 2 groups, including control and treatment groups. The control group was received placebo daily for 16 weeks, while treatment group was fed with PCSO-524 for 16 weeks. Porcine epidemic diarrhea is caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), which causes swine watery diarrhea and higher mortality rates in piglets less than one week of age. Outbreaks of PED affect to economic loss, especially in a swine industrial country. Many strategies were used for preventing the outbreak and infection of PEDV, especially maternal antibody stimulation in pigs and then transfer to piglet through colostrum or milk.
