Susceptibility to infection and increasing antibiotic resistance put burn patients at risk of developing infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO). This condition can progress to sepsis, increasing morbidity and mortality. This retrospective cohort study employed the medical record data of patients treated at Public Hospital X in Jakarta, Indonesia, from January 2020 to June 2022. Of 160 subjects, most were aged <60 years (82.5%) and had comorbidities (16.88%). The most common cause of burns was fire (86.25%). The use of medical devices was 90.63%, with a 14-day median length of stay. The most common gram-negative MDRO pathogens were K. pneumoniae (29.91%), Enterobacter sp (22.32%), and Acinetobacter (20.54%); 45% of patients infected with MDRO died. The bivariate analysis found an increased risk of death due to MDRO infection in burn patients (RR 1.103; 95%CI 1.004-1.211, p-value = 0.046). After adjusting for role variables (age, comorbidities, total body surface area, use of medical devices, length of stay) and from multivariate analysis, the confounding variables for MDRO infection and mortality were length of stay and age. MDRO infection increases the mortality rate in burn patients. Mortality in burn patients due to MDRO infection is greater than non-MDRO.

This study examines the likelihood of persons with disabilities experiencing chronic diseases compared to those without disabilities, emphasizing the role of demographic characteristics. Prior research shows that individuals with disabilities have a higher risk of chronic diseases due to pre-existing health conditions, secondary complications, healthcare access barriers, and limited health education. Beyond these factors, we argue that demographic characteristics—such as age, gender, insurance status, and living environment—also shape daily habits and lifestyles that influence long-term health outcomes. The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device is primarily used for treating wide-neck intracranial bifurcation aneurysms under 10 mm. Limited data exists on its efficacy for large aneurysms. We aim to assess angiographic and clinical outcomes of the WEB device in treating large versus small aneurysms. We conducted a retrospective review of the WorldWide WEB Consortium database, from 2011 to 2022, across 30 academic institutions globally. Introduction: Adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in India face additional health inequities compared to their male peers, as gender norms constrain agency for prevention and self-care. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated lockdowns deepened health inequities and often worsened mental health, but the impacts on agency are unclear. Heparan sulfate proteoglycan 2 (HSPG2) gene encodes the matrix protein Perlecan, and genetic inactivation of this gene creates mice that are embryonic lethal with severe neural tube defects (NTDs). We discovered rare genetic variants of HSPG2 in 10% cases compared to only 4% in controls among a cohort of 369 NTDs. Endorepellin, a peptide cleaved from the domain V of Perlecan, is known to promote angiogenesis and autophagy in endothelial cells. The Mediterranean Region registers an increasing prevalence of obesity. The region lacks a diet screener to assess obesogenic nutrients. This study aimed to evaluate the reproducibility and validity of the Modified Mediterranean Prime Screen (MMPS) in estimating obesogenic nutrients' intake among women of reproductive age, as compared with a culturally validated Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), in Lebanon. The sudden onset of the coronavirus disease led to a rapid expansion of video telehealth to deliver mental healthcare. Although video telehealth was not a new clinical practice, there was limited guidance on how best to modify evidence-based psychotherapies (EBPs) for virtual delivery (a process also referred to as virtualization). The virtualization process for EBPs remains unclear as newly emerging reports on this topic do not consistently report modification decisions. Prior studies have identified various determinants of differential immune responses to COVID-19. This study focused on the Ig-G anti-RBD marker, analyzing its potential correlations with sex, vaccine type, body fat percentage, metabolic risk, perceived stress, and previous COVID-19 exposure. In this study, data (available in S1 Data) were obtained from 108 participants from the ESFUERSO cohort, who completed questionnaires detailing their COVID-19 experiences and stress levels assessed through the SISCO scale.
