Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S (1999-2019). However, predicting when someone will attempt suicide has been nearly impossible. In the modern world, many individuals suffering from mental illness seek emotional support and advice on well-known and easily-accessible social media platforms such as Reddit. While prior artificial intelligence research has demonstrated the ability to extract valuable information from social media on suicidal thoughts and behaviors, these efforts have not considered both severity and temporality of risk. The insights made possible by access to such data have enormous clinical potential - most dramatically envisioned as a trigger …

Amending Traditional Substrate Rice Straw With Agroforestry Tree Foliage Increases Production Cycle And Nutritional Value Of Pleurotus Floridanus, Samora M Andrew, John R Mbwambo
Tanzania Journal of Science
The recent heightened attention on mushrooms has not considered shortening the production time and increasing nutritional value using substrates from agroforestry trees in addition to traditionally used agro-industrial residues. This study therefore, examined harvesting time, protein and essential minerals of Pleurotus floridanus grown on rice straw amended with Gliricidia sepium foliage in Morogoro, Tanzania. Mushrooms were cultivated in 30 x 40 cm 4 kg dry weight polythene bags in randomized complete block design (RCBD) experiment. Results showed that the addition of 5% G. sepium into rice straw reduced total time between spawning and first harvest of P. floridanus. Gliricidia sepium …

Application Of Optimal Control To Tuberculosis Model With Parameter Estimations: Bayesian Approach, Goodluck M Mlay, Alfred K Hugo
Tanzania Journal of Science
In this paper, one-strain tuberculosis (TB) model with two control mechanisms, education campaigns and chemoprophylaxis of TB-infected patients, was studied to determine their effects on the reduction of latent and active TB cases. In the case of analysis, boundedness and positivity of the model solutions were carried out to determine the biological feasibility of the study. Besides, the calibration of the parameters by utilizing the identifiability technique through the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) was thoroughly analysed. The optimum conditions for controlling TB were derived from the Pontryagin Maximum Principle. The numerical simulations were carried out using the forward-back sweep …

Comparative Analysis Of Routine Immunization Policy During Covid-19 Pandemic In Indonesia, India, And Pakistan, Dian Trisna Delfyan, Yaslis Ilyas
Journal of Indonesian Health Policy and Administration
Immunization is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions, averting an estimated 2 to 3 million deaths every year. Before the coronavirus pandemic, more than nearly 14 million children didn't receive any vaccines, and 19 million children below the age did not receive the recommended vaccines in 2019. COVID 19 is leaving many of the world's most marginalized children without access to immunization services. Some are from Indonesia, India, and Pakistan, including ten countries with the highest number of unimmunized and partially immunized children. The study aims to find out the differences in the policy of routine immunization programs …

The Unmet Need for Family Planning (KB) in 2019 is still far from the 2015-2019 Strategic Plan target set at 9.91 percent. Seventeen provinces have a percentage of Unmet Need KB above the national figure (14.4 percent). One of them is WestJava Province, with a percentage of Unmet Need of 14.8%. Provinces with a high number ofUnmet Needs require the attention of policymakers, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic. West Java is the high-risk red zone category of COVID-19. Increased public awareness of the transmission of Covid-19 is an additional constraint to reducing the Unmet Need for family planning in the …

A Study On Legal Policy Of Pharmacy Education And Pharmacy Workers Related To The Urgency Of Establishing Pharmacy Law, Rasta Naya Pratita, Adang Bachtiar
Journal of Indonesian Health Policy and Administration
According to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, health is one of the basic human rights. One of the aspects that support health is the aspect of pharmacy. Pharmacy workers consist of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technical Workers according to Law No. 36/2014 regarding Health Workers. In practice, pharmacy education in Indonesia is considered not sufficient to prepare the pharmacy workforce. There are currently contradictions in the applied pharmaceutical policy, where the number of pharmacy undergraduate programs is 279, while the number of pharmacist study programs is only 45. This results in an imbalance of graduates. There is a …

This study quantifies the transmission potential of SARS-CoV-2 across public health districts in Georgia, USA, and tests if per capita cumulative case count varies across counties. To estimate the time-varying reproduction number, Rt of SARS-CoV-2 in Georgia and its 18 public health districts, we apply the R package ‘EpiEstim’ to the time series of historical daily incidence of confirmed cases, 2 March–15 December 2020. The epidemic curve is shifted backward by nine days to account for the incubation period and delay to testing. Linear regression is performed between log10-transformed per capita cumulative case count and log10-transformed population size. We observe …

In this review, state-of-the-art evidence on the relationship between cannabis use, traffic crash risks, and driving safety were analyzed. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and other relevant papers published within the last decade were systematically searched and synthesized. Findings show that meta-analyses and culpability studies consistently indicate a slightly but significantly increased risk of crashes after acute cannabis use. These risks vary across included study type, crash severity, and method of substance application and measurement. Some studies show a significant correlation between high THC blood concentrations and car crash risk. Most studies do not support this relationship at lower THC concentrations. However, …

Arkansas’S Culture Of Health 2011–2019: A Case Study Narrative Of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Data Sets, Dylan Travis
Student Theses and Dissertations
Investigating the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) yearly data sets from 2011 to 2019, I illustrate the numerous health decade averages that exist at the county level within the state of Arkansas. These health decade averages are representative of both health factors and health outcomes as measured by the RWJF. The decade averages are compared both nationally and at the county level. I reveal both the positive and negative decade averages that exist within the state, and ideally, to encourage further original study. This is accomplished through a narrative and summative approach of the existing data.

Background: Child labourers are exposed to an insecure environment and higher risk of violence. Violence among child labourers is an under-studied phenomenon which requires contextual assessment.
Aims: We applied Bronfenbrenner's ecological model (micro-, exo- and macro-system) to understand the interplay of individual, community, societal and policy context fuelling violence.
Methods: Focus group discussions and family ethnographies of child-labourers working in common occupational sectors of suburban areas of Sindh were carried out to gain in-depth understanding of their immediate environment and abuse (micro-system). Frequency of emotional, physical and sexual violence (5-14 years; n = 634) was also determined. Indepth interviews with …
