BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The glymphatic system, a waste clearance pathway, has been implicated in several neurological conditions associated with neuroinflammation. COVID-19 associated neurocognitive impairment, part of the post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), is strongly associated with neuroinflammation and disrupted blood-brain barrier (BBB). Several studies have implicated a synergistic interaction between the glymphatic system dysfunction and BBB disruption. In this proof-of-concept study, we investigated the role of the MRI metric diffusion along the perivascular spaces DTI (DTI-ALPS) in patients with PASC and correlated this with the BBB capillary permeability metric- K trans derived from Dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) perfusion.

Background: The daily quality control of the Computed Tomography system consists of the measurement of the accuracy of CT Number and the artifact evaluation. The annual quality control includes the clinical protocol review. The CT radiologist is responsible for ensuring that all Quality Assurance (QA) requirements are met. The clinical team reviews and manages the CT protocol to deliver the appropriate radiation dose to the patient for each examination.

Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is a common spinal condition characterized by the deterioration of intervertebral discs, leading to chronic back pain and reduced mobility. While magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has long been the standard for late-stage DDD diagnosis, its limitations in early-stage detection prompt the exploration of advanced imaging methods. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) using 18F- fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) and 18F-sodium fluoride (NaF) has shown promise in identifying metabolic imbalances and age-related spinal degeneration, thereby complementing CT grading of the disease. Background: Rising PSA levels following local therapy with curative intent are seen in about one third of men previously treated for prostate cancer, indicative of disease recurrence. This is usually not detectable through imaging modalities like computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Several studies show high detection rates of recurrence with 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT, one of the novel PET imaging modalities for prostate cancer. Background 

Parathyroid adenomas are the commonest cause of primary hyperparathyroidism. The primary mode of treatment is surgical excision which can only be achieved with pre surgical localization of adenomas. Ultrasound, CT and MRI can be used but the most sensitive and specific imaging modality is parathyroid scintigraphy with use of Sestamibi labelled with technetium 99 metastable radionuclide. A few studies have been done comparing dual phase, dual tracer and combined dual phase/tracer protocols with an apparent lack of consensus on which is superior.

Valvular heart disease is a significant global health issue, particularly in developing countries where Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) is the leading cause. Valve replacement surgeries have increased, with mechanical prostheses favored for their durability. However, thromboembolism remains a critical complication post-surgery, with prosthetic valve thrombosis rates of 0.03% for bioprosthetic valves and between 0.5% to 8% for mechanical valves in the aortic and mitral position. Background: Variation in imaging protocol, patient positioning, and the presence of artifacts can vary image quality in CT images used for radiotherapy planning. Automated methods for spatial resolution (SR) estimation exist but require further investigation and validation for wider adoption.

Purpose: To validated previously existing algorithm for SR estimation and introduce improvements that make it robust to patient positioning, CT protocol, site, and artifacts.

This Expert Consensus Statement serves to outline expert opinion on what constitutes appropriate supervision and the essential components of safe CEUS practice. Objectives: The objective of this review is to evaluate the effectiveness of three-dimensional (3D) heart models as teaching tools for congenital heart disease (CHD), addressing the limitations of traditional medical education methods. Methods: A thorough literature review was conducted using PubMed, Google Scholar, Scientific Direct and Scopus databases. Relevant articles were screened and selected based on their discussion of the application of 3D models in CHD education. Results: The comprehensive review of 19 studies revealed that 3D heart models provide students, healthcare professionals, and patients with meaningful experiences that significantly enhance understanding and learning outcomes. This is a case report of a patient who presented with left sided hearing loss. The patient was found to have mixed conductive and sensorineural hearing loss of the left ear and restrictive hearing of the right ear. Subsequent imaging demonstrated evidence of bilateral otosclerosis. Otosclerosis is characterized by progressive pathological bone remodeling in the otic capsule, resulting in hearing loss. Given the disease burden of otosclerosis and the corresponding effects on quality of life, providers must have knowledge of the disease to incorporate it into working differential diagnoses for patients presenting with hearing loss. BACKGROUND: There are a lack of randomized controlled trial data comparing outcomes of different catheter-based interventions for intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism.

METHODS: PEERLESS is a prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial that enrolled 550 patients with intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism with right ventricular dilatation and additional clinical risk factors randomized 1:1 to treatment with large-bore mechanical thrombectomy (LBMT) or catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT). Heritable thoracic aortic disease is caused by dominantly inherited mutations in more than a dozen genes, including TGFB2 mutations that cause Loeys-Dietz syndrome. McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston convenes a regular conference that includes cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, cardiologists, geneticists, radiologists, and pathologists to formulate multidisciplinary approaches for the management of complex heritable thoracic aortic disease cases. In this report, we highlight the unique management of individuals with distinct presentations of Loeys-Dietz syndrome owing to TGFB2 mutations.

Background: Blunt abdominal trauma (BAT) is a significant contributor to pediatric mortality, often causing liver and spleen injuries. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT), the gold standard for diagnosing solid organ injury, poses radiation risks to children. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) may be a promising alternative imaging modality.

A 62-year-old man was referred to our hospital presenting with a sore throat, dyspnea, and cervical swelling. Initial precontrast CT scans revealed a cervical and mediastinal hematoma, along with a hemothorax. Further dynamic contrast-enhanced CT scans indicated contrast media extravasation dorsal to the right thyroid gland lobe, suggesting a rupture of the right inferior thyroid artery or a parathyroid adenoma. Following endotracheal intubation, angiography confirmed extravasation from the right inferior thyroid artery. Transarterial embolization (TAE) was successfully performed using a gelatin sponge. Purpose: This study examines the representation of mammography on social media platforms, specifically, X (Twitter), Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, from 2006 to 2023. X (Twitter) went public in 2006, Facebook in 2004, Instagram in 2012, and TikTok in 2018 (after merging with Musical.ly). The analysis starts from after the public launch years to analyze personal experiences shared online.

Methods: A retrospective content analysis was conducted on 1,771 posts using specific hashtags related to mammography. Computed Tomography (CT) is a critical diagnostic tool that delivers rapid, detailed cross-sectional imaging but remains a major contributor to medical radiation exposure. Increasing use of CT has led to concerns about excessive or low-value exams, including repeat scans that do not often change patient management and may increase long-term cancer risk. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is considered to be a safe, non-invasive diagnostic modality. However, the presence of a strong magnetic field creates inherent risks when safety protocols are not followed. This project examines MRI safety, with particular focus on the recent fatality in New York, where a person was killed by a projectile accident in the scanner room. Such events highlight the catastrophic consequences that can result from lapses in screening procedures, inadequate staff training, or poor enforcement of zone protocols. Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) has increasingly transformed radiologic practice by improving diagnostic accuracy, streamlining workflows, and reducing interpretation errors. As AI integration has expanded across imaging modalities, questions have emerged regarding its effectiveness compared to traditional radiologist-only interpretation.

As gender-affirming surgery becomes more widespread, it is important that healthcare providers recognize complications related to gender-affirming surgery. Although rates of postoperative bleeding after gender-affirming vaginoplasty are relatively low, it is imperative that this potentially life-threatening complication is recognized and managed quickly. This case highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the management of neovaginal bleeding that was unable to be controlled intraoperatively by suture ligation.
