Purpose To synthesize current evidence on theranostic trials, nuclear medicine clinical workflow models, and organizational readiness, with a focus on how healthcare organizations and medical imaging leaders are adapting to the rapid expansion of theranostic services.
Method A comprehensive search was conducted across Scopus, PubMed, MEDLINE, and Google Scholar. Inclusion criteria required peer‑reviewed articles published between 2002 and 2026 addressing nuclear medicine leadership, theranostic implementation, workflow design, and organizational factors influencing theranostic program development. Exclusion criteria removed editorials, blog posts, and nonpeer‑reviewed sources.
Results Four major themes emerged: workforce and staffing demands, infrastructure and resource requirements, regulatory and administrative pressures, …

Background Accurate femoral bone landmark identification is essential for orthopedic surgical planning, deformity correction, and fracture risk assessment. Radiography offers accessibility and low cost, while CT provides superior spatial resolution and three-dimensional visualization. Despite technological advances, no quantitative synthesis has compared these modalities specifically for femoral landmark identification.
Hypothesis CT provides superior measurement accuracy and interobserver reliability compared to radiography for femoral bone landmark identification.

This study utilized Monte Carlo (MC) simulations to optimize radiation doses in pediatric multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) head scans by analyzing key parameters like tube current (mA), tube voltage (kV), pitch, and slice thickness. The findings indicate that reducing tube current significantly lowers the Computed Tomography Dose Index (CTDIvol) and Dose Length Product (DLP), effectively minimizing patient radiation exposure. Higher pitch values (0.7–0.9) further reduced radiation by decreasing beam overlap, while using a thinner slice thickness (0.6 mm) improved dose efficiency. Purpose: To evaluate operational trends in an interventional oncology practice at a tertiary academic center before and after the addition of hybrid angiography–computed tomography (Angio-CT) rooms.
Materials and Methods: The procedure volumes and types performed in the hybrid Angio-CT rooms were retrospectively collected from 2016 to 2020. Procedures were divided into categories, including arteriography, endovascular interventional oncology, ablation, venous intervention, non-vascular catheter placement (biliary, nephrostomy, gastrostomy, etc.), and osseous interventions. Procedural trends in the Angio-CT rooms and the frequencies of combination procedures that used both CT and angiography were assessed.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in radiology to improve diagnostic accuracy and workflow efficiency; however, there is limited standardized research comparing its performance across imaging modalities. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and efficiency of AI in X-ray, computed tomography (CT), and nuclear medicine. A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines, analyzing peer-reviewed studies published between 2015 and 2025. Data were extracted on key performance metrics, including sensitivity, specificity, interpretation time, and error rates, to enable cross-modality comparison. A standardized guideline and scoring system are recommended for the imaging evaluation of musculoskeletal infections on MR imaging. The Musculoskeletal Infection Reporting and Data System (MSKI-RADS) is a recently developed and validated classification system using MR imaging that can be used to classify the severity and extent of musculoskeletal infections, improve radiology-pathology concordance, and outline the corresponding management recommendations. This review article explains MSKI-RADS and discusses the different elements of this system in detail with a review of pertinent literature so that the readers can apply it in their practices. Background: The gold standard for diagnosing cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), full brain post-mortem examination, is rarely performed. Current diagnostic criteria, primarily based on clinico-radiological features, were developed from Western populations and may have limited applicability to Asian populations.

Postoperative infections remain a major complication after spinal fusion surgery, often caused by biofilm-forming bacteria that resist short-term antibiotic prophylaxis. Vancomycin (VAN) is sometimes delivered locally during surgery; however, levels diminish rapidly, leaving patients vulnerable to late-onset infections. We developed a composite hydrogel integrating perfluorohexane-based emulsions within alginate or fibrin matrices to enable both sustained and ultrasound-triggered VAN release. Water-in-oil-in-water emulsions were prepared using fluorosurfactant-stabilized perfluorohexane as the volatile oil phase, then embedded in hydrogels and exposed to ultrasound (2.5 MHz, 5.5 MPa peak negative pressure) to initiate acoustic droplet vaporization for triggered release. [Patient presentation] A 68-year-old man presented via emergency medical services (EMS) with right hip pain following a traumatic fall from his bicycle. On arrival at the emergency department, he was alert and oriented. Physical examination revealed only tenderness over the greater trochanter of the left femur, with no significant pain on passive range of motion of the left hip. Plain radiography demonstrated a left acetabular fracture (Fig 1).

This population-based cohort study evaluated the long-term relationship between initial participation in mammography screening and subsequent breast cancer outcomes among approximately 432,000 women in Stockholm, Sweden. Women were invited to their first screening between 1991 and 2020 at ages 40 or 50 and followed for up to 25 years through national health registries. Overall, 32% did not attend their initial screening. Non-attenders were significantly less likely to participate in later screening rounds and were more likely to be diagnosed with advanced disease, showing 1.5-fold higher odds of stage III and more than 3.5-fold higher odds of stage IV breast cancer …

Pressure measurement in clinical practice is a valuable tool for diagnostic evaluation, especially in diseases such as portal hypertension. Currently, portal pressures are measured by invasive hepatic vein catheterization, posing risks to patients, and limiting how often measurements can be obtained. Subharmonic-aided pressure estimation (SHAPE) is an ultrasound-based technique that leverages ultrasound contrast agents (UCAs) to estimate changes in hydrostatic pressure. UCAs act as nonlinear oscillators when exposed to high enough acoustic pressures (typically > 200 kPa) and produce significant energy components ranging from subharmonics to higher harmonics. Insurance status and race have been significant predictors of delayed care and reduced imaging utilization in emergency settings, particularly among minority and Medicaid-insured populations (Moser, Shan). The reasoning for the disparities in treatment for these underserved populations is still not well understood. To further analyze these claims, this study examined whether demographic factors such as ethnicity, sex, age, insurance type, and fracture classification were associated with differences in imaging modality among patients with femur fractures. Background: Cerebral small vessel strokes in young, otherwise healthy adults without traditional vascular risk factors are rare and warrant further investigation. Central nervous system (CNS) vasculitis is an uncommon etiology that may be triggered by infections, including fungal pathogens. This case is notable for a suspected primary CNS vasculitis manifesting as bilateral deep infarcts in the setting of Coccidioidal meningitis. It highlights the importance of considering fungal infections and vasculitis in the differential diagnosis of stroke in younger patients.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Diffusion tensor imaging analysis along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS) has emerged as a promising noninvasive method for evaluating water motion that may reflect glymphatic system function. However, the reliability of DTI-ALPS measurements across different region-of-interest (ROI) selection methods remains underinvestigated. Neurocysticercosis is a parasitic infection caused by the cestode Taenia solium, in which pigs serve as the definitive hosts. Humans can become accidental intermediate hosts through the ingestion of food contaminated with Taenia solium eggs via fecal-oral transmission. Once ingested, the eggs of Taenia solium hatch into larvae, which then migrate through the bloodstream and disseminate across various organs, including the central nervous system (CNS). OBJECTIVE: To establish thyroid ultrasound volume norms appropriate for studies of diffuse goiter in a cohort of children and adolescents from an iodine-deficient population exposed to 131I by the Chernobyl fallout.
METHODS: A cohort of 11,970 Belarusians aged ≤18 years at the time of the 1986 Chernobyl accident with individual thyroid radiation dose estimates was screened 10-18 years later. From these, a low-dose subset of 2,392 with no thyroid diseases was selected to construct age- and sex-specific normative values for thyroid ultrasound volume, compared to Belarusian Ministry of Health (MOH) norms and existing WHO and European standards.

Vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFRs) are key regulators of angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, and vascular permeability, playing essential roles in both physiological and pathological processes. The VEGFR family, including VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3, interacts with structurally related VEGF ligands (VEGFA, VEGFB, VEGFC, VEGFD, and placental growth factor [PlGF]), activating downstream signaling pathways that mediate critical cellular processes, including proliferation, migration, and survival. Musculoskeletal tumors present a diagnostic challenge due to their rarity, histological diversity, and overlapping imaging features. Accurate characterization is essential for effective treatment planning and prognosis, yet current diagnostic workflows rely heavily on invasive biopsy and subjective radiologic interpretation. This review explores the evolving role of radiogenomics and machine learning in improving diagnostic accuracy for bone and soft tissue tumors. We examine integrating quantitative imaging features from MRI, CT, and PET with genomic and transcriptomic data to enable non-invasive tumor profiling. Idiopathic Intracranial hypertension (IIH), also referred to as pseudotumor cerebri, is a term used to describe increased intracranial pressure in the absence of a known identifiable secondary cause. Despite advancements of neuroimaging techniques, imaging of the pathological underpinnings in the diagnosis of IIH has been limited. Although the causation of IIH has been ascribed to increased Cerebrospinal Fluid production and disordered drainage through the dural sinuses, new evidence shows that the glymphatic system which is an alternate pathway of drainage is likely to play a pivotal role. Characterizing imaging performance requires a multidisciplinary approach that evaluates various interconnected parameters, including dosage optimization and dynamic accuracy. Radiation dose and dynamic accuracy are challenged by patient motion that results in poor image quality. These challenges are more prevalent in the brain/cardiac pediatric patient imaging, as they relate to excess radiation dose that may be associated with various complications. Scanning vulnerable pediatric patients ought to eliminate anesthesia due to critical risks associated in some cases with intracranial hemorrhages, brain strokes, and congenital heart disease. A 40-year-old woman presented with chronic left anterior shoulder, upper arm, and axillary pain following a routine mammogram 3 years prior. Despite multiple interventions, her pain persisted significantly affecting her quality of life. Ultrasound examination revealed fascicular edema in the medial brachial cutaneous nerve (MBCN), intercostobrachial cutaneous nerve (ICBN), and a positive sono-Tinel. Ultrasound-guided hydrodissection of these nerves provided complete axillary pain relief and significant improvement in anterior arm pain, sustained for 6 months. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges of cutaneous nerve entrapment syndromes, often overlooked and misdiagnosed, especially without a clear inciting injury. Zinner syndrome (ZS) is a rare congenital condition characterized by the triad of unilateral renal agenesis, ipsilateral seminal vesicle cyst, and ipsilateral ejaculatory duct obstruction. ZS is suspected to be caused by the malformation of the mesonephric duct during embryogenesis. The incomplete migration of the ureteric bud results in ipsilateral renal agenesis and ejaculatory duct obstruction. The remaining gonad develops with inadequate seminal fluid drainage, leading to the formation of seminal vesicle cysts. ZS is often asymptomatic, leading to challenges in diagnosis, particularly in adolescents. Symptoms can include pain, dysuria, pollakisuria, perineal pain, epididymitis, and pain after ejaculation. Epicardial Adipose Tissue (EAT) is drawing increasing attention. As a quantifiable, modifiable, and potentially new cardiovascular therapeutic target, its accurate measurement is particularly relevant. In Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) different methods can be used to assess EAT burden. We take advantage of CMR-studies of EMPATROPISM trial to assess EAT through three different methods, evaluate the effect of Empagliflozin and look for significant difference in the ability to detect changes in serial measurements. In some settings such as treatment-induced changes or patient follow-up, multi-slice method of EAT evaluation provides higher accuracy to detect significant differences, otherwise unnoticed by single-slice approaches.

Fluoroscopy-guided steroid injections are standard for lumbar spine pain but involve radiation. Ultrasound offers a safer, radiation-free alternative. Ultrasound-guided injections are non-inferior in improving pain and function. A systematic review of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Scopus, and Web of Science was conducted. Studies in adults comparing ultrasound and fluoroscopy-guided injections reporting VAS, NRS, or ODI were included. Fifteen studies showed both techniques significantly improved pain and function, with no consistent superiority. Ultrasound-guided injections are effective and safe, providing comparable outcomes to fluoroscopy while eliminating radiation exposure.

Preoperative identification of extracapsular extension (ECE) in prostate cancer (PCa) is crucial for effective treatment planning, as ECE presence significantly increases the risk of positive surgical margins and early biochemical recurrence following radical prostatectomy. AutoRadAI, an innovative artificial intelligence (AI) framework, was developed to address this clinical challenge while demonstrating broader potential for diverse medical imaging applications. The framework integrates T2-weighted MRI data with histopathology annotations, leveraging a dual convolutional neural network (multi-CNN) architecture. PURPOSE: The Medical Imaging and Data Resource Center (MIDRC) mRALE Mastermind Grand Challenge fostered the development of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for the automated assignment of mRALE (modified radiographic assessment of lung edema) scores to portable chest radiographs from patients known to have COVID-19.
APPROACH: The challenge utilized 2079 training cases obtained from the publicly available MIDRC data commons, with validation and test cases sampled from not-yet-public MIDRC cases that were inaccessible to challenge participants. Background/Purpose: The use of mobile head CT scanning in the ICU setting has both clinical and economic advantages, particularly if able to provide image quality close or equal to fixed CT scanners.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the image quality of a new portable CT scanner, compared to a fixed CT platform.
Materials/Methods: Inpatients (n=11), age> 60 requiring head CT evaluation were enrolled and consented to obtain an additional head CT on the portable CT, following their fixed exam.
