Preschool Children's Toothbrushing Behaviour And Association With Their Oral Health, Muhammad Khan Iqra
Preschool Children's Toothbrushing Behaviour And Association With Their Oral Health, Muhammad Khan Iqra
Student Works (2020-2029)
Toothbrushing is an important yet neglected behaviour that has affected oral health of preschool children (4-6 years). Factors like dietary habit, socioeconomic status and oral conditions also affect oral health of preschool children. Despite intervention efforts, recent investigations reported high prevalence of early childhood caries (ECC) and oral diseases among this age group across different populations. Therefore, it is imperative to understand the relationship between toothbrushing behaviour and oral health status of preschool children to prevent oral diseases, hence improve their oral health. The aim of the current study was to evaluate toothbrushing behaviour of preschool children, assess their oral …

The Effect And Feasibility Of The Sims Programme To Improve Preschool Children's Oral Hygiene Level And Related Behaviours: A Cluster Randomised Control Trial, Anwar Nurul Hayati
Student Works (2020-2029)
Background: The preschool oral healthcare programme (POHP) was introduced by the Ministry of Health in 1984 to provide oral healthcare to 5-6-year-old children in Malaysia. Due to some limitations, a new programme called the ‘Senyuman Indah Milik Semua’ Programme (SIMSP) was introduced with the aim to improvise the POHP. In the SIMSP, a triad of dental therapists (DTs), teachers, and parents was set up to promote children’s oral hygiene level, oral health behaviours (OHBs), and parents’ oral health literacy (OHL). The POHP only involved DTs. Objectives: The primary objective of the study was to assess the effect of SIMSP versus …
Oral Care During Pregnancy: An Educational Intervention, Holly Redwine
Oral Care During Pregnancy: An Educational Intervention, Holly Redwine
EWU Masters Thesis Collection
Purpose: Interprofessional collaboration can help prevent adverse pregnancy outcomes related to poor oral health. This study was conducted to see if an educational module provided by a dental hygienist (DH) could increase the knowledge and confidence of physician assistant (PA) students with preventive oral care for the pregnant patient.
Methods: A one group mixed-method approach was used in this research. Pregnancy and oral health knowledge were assessed using a 9-item pretest and posttest survey. Participants completed the pretest, were presented an educational module, and were asked to complete an immediate posttest. A second posttest was sent via e-mail to the …

Non-Invasive Retrieval Of Prefabricated Zirconia Crowns With Er,Cr:Ysgg Laser From Primary And Permanent Teeth, Connor W. Mccall Dds
Theses and Dissertations
Purpose: Compromised tooth structure on permanent and deciduous teeth in the pediatric population is increasingly being restored with tooth-colored prefabricated zirconia crowns. These restorations may need to be removed or replaced with permanent crowns. The purpose of this in vitro study was to explore the use of an Er,Cr:YSGG laser for removal of prefabricated zirconia crowns cemented with RMGI as a non-invasive alternative to rotary instruments.
Methods: Thirteen permanent and 12 primary molars were prepared to dentin and prefabricated zirconia crowns were passively fitted and cemented with two resin modified glass ionomer cements. The irradiation parameters for ErCR:YSGG were 4.5 …

A Comparison In Pediatric Dental Website Design From A Guardian And Pediatric Dentists’ Perspective., David M. Voth
Theses and Dissertations
Purpose: This project aims to determine which aspects of pediatric dental practice websites are preferable to the guardians of pediatric dental patients and which of these aspects are currently available to guardians on the websites of pediatric dental practices across the United States. The comparison will reveal if practice websites are meeting the needs of the guardians of pediatric dental patients. Our hope is to provide meaningful guidance to pediatric dentists designing new practice websites and to provide the guardians of pediatric dental patients with an appealing online experience during their use of the aforementioned websites. Methods: A survey with …

Effect Of Chlorhexidine Gluconate On Dentin Carious Lesion In Vitro, Patcharanun Borompiyasawat
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Objective:The purpose of this study were to compare mean mineral density(MMD) and examine the remineralized pattern of carious dentin after cavity disinfectant with chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX) and restore with H-GIC in vitro. Materials and Methods: Selective caries removal to leathery dentin was performed in forty extracted primary molars. The samples were scanned using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) as the MMD baseline and randomly divided into 4 groups: Group A (n=10) applied dentin conditioner and restored with H-GIC (Equia Forte™), Group B (n=10) disinfected the cavity with 2% CHX for 1 minute before applied dentin conditioner and restored with H-GIC (Equia Forte™), …
