Objective: To determine the antibacterial effect of silver diamine fluoride and glass ionomer cement restoration against streptococcus mutans. Materials and methods: This study included 10 blood agar plates, the anti-bacterial efficacy of each matter was estimated against streptococcus mutans using agar diffusion test. Streptococcus mutans was prepared on blood gar plate. Three wells (A,B,C) with a diameter of 5 mm were performed in each plate and totally filled with one of the tested substances. The test materials were divided into three groups: group A (SDF): silver diamine fluoride, group B (GI): glass ionomer and group C (SDF+GI) were placed into …

Introduction: patients with Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation are highly susceptible to caries and hypersensitivity because of the altered morphology and structure of the enamel prisms, which can result in complication in management during the treatment.
Aim: the aim of the study was to assess the Dental Fear and Anxiety in a group of Egyptian children and adolescents with MIH.
Subjects and methods: the study was a comparative cross-sectional study included 200 Egyptian children and adolescents aged from 6 to 17 years old ,100 patients diagnosed with MIH and 100 as a control group attending the Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health …

Introduction: Evaluating oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) among Egyptian dental students can broaden the traditional focus on dental criteria to include social, emotional, and functional aspects. This perspective shift is vital as background knowledge influences both perceptions and behaviors regarding oral health. Comparing OHRQoL between dental and non-dental students is crucial for understanding these differences.
Aim: This study aims to compare the oral health related quality of life and oral hygiene measures between a group of dental and non-dental students at Newgiza University.
Methods: During the Oral Health Day at Newgiza University, the short form of the Oral …

Abstract
Aim: To compare the success rate regarding esthetics, parenteral satisfaction, and oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) after treatment of early childhood caries with Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)compared to conventional Glass ionomer Restoration (CGI).
Materials and Methods: We conducted a systematic review following PRISMA statement by searching on the following electronic databases: PubMed, Cochrane.
Results: From the studies included in this systematic review, two studies showed significant difference in color stability between SDF and CGI. Two studies showed no significant difference in parental satisfaction with either SDF or Glass Ionomer. Regarding the Oral Health Related Quality of Life, …

Abstract:
Introduction: Orthodontist tend to use one of the 2 bracket slot sizes available either the 0.018” or 0.022” bracket slot. Till now there is no reliable scientific evidence that indicates if any of them has a superior effect on the duration of teeth alignment. The aim of this study is to compare alignment duration between 0.018 and 0.022-inch bracket slot systems.
Subjects and methods: 14 Eligible participants having an age range of 14-22 years were randomly allocated to 2 groups (7 in each group). Group I: 0.018-inch and Group II: 0.022-inch slot (American orthodontics Mini master Roth prescription …

Abstract
Objective: To assess the accuracy of Dolphin Imaging software in predicting upper jaw profile changes in class II patients treated by extraction and non-extraction.
Methods: The records of 60 Class II div 1 patients were selected; 30 patients treated by extraction of upper first premolar and 30 patients treated by non-extraction. The Pre- and post-treatment lateral cephalometric x-rays of each patient were traced using Dolphin software. The actual hard tissue changes due to treatment were calculated and installed into the prediction module to generate the predicted profile. The soft tissue measurements of the actual post-treatment and predicted profiles were …

Aim of the Study: The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of silver diamine fluoride on micro-tensile bond strength of composite to dentin and on the bonding mechanism of dentin surface on primary and permanent teeth. Material and methods: This study included two groups: group 1 included twenty-four primary molars and group 2 included twenty-four premolars. Each group was further subdivided equally into sub-group A and sub-group B. Sub-groups A of each group were treated with a self-etch bonding system and 4-mm thick buildups of composite were placed with increments limited to 1 mm. Subgroups B …

Correlation Between Gingival Redness And Oral Health Related Quality Of Life In A Group Of Egyptian Children At New Giza University, Fayrouz Saber, Manal Ahmed Al Sayed, Ola Moustafa Omar

Introduction: The concept of oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) is of great significance in the three areas of dental health, in particular the clinical practice of dentistry, research, and education. The reported prevalence of gingivitis in various developed countries is considered high. This rate escalates with the increase in age, especially around puberty. There is evidence that gingivitis is associated with the children’s OHRQoL as there are common risk factors between gingivitis’ of adolescence and their consequent OHRQoL.
Aim: This study aims to evaluate the correlation between gingival redness as evaluated by digital photographs and oral health related …

Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance is one of the ten threats identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019, since it affects modern healthcare and the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections. Recent estimates of the burden of antimicrobial resistance are very significant, with more than half a million cases of infection with selected antibiotic-resistant bacteria or new emerging resistant pathogens occurring in Europe; of note, data regarding antimicrobial resistance in low-income countries are largely unknown, increasing the overall risk of mortality, in particular in surgical procedures
Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the …

Background: Molar incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) has become a more widespread problem around the world, while its prevalence in Egypt is underestimated with no data on its correlation to Hypomineralization of Second Primary Molars (HSPM). Aim: Estimate the prevalence of MIH and HSPM in Egypt, investigate the possibility of HSPM being a predictive factor for MIH, and the probable etiological factors for MIH. Material and Methods: Three hundred and seventeen healthy children aged seven to ten years old were dentally examined for Molar Incisor Hypomineralization and Hypomineralization of Second Primary Molars and all potentially correlated etiological factors. Both MIH and HSPM …

Abstract:
Introduction: Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH) is one of qualitative DED. MIH is increasing dramatically in the new generations, which is considered to be challenging for the majority of dentists. MIH was found to be prevalent in 14.2% of the world's population, with the high incidence 18% in South America and the least (10.9%) in Africa. This study was carried out to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice of graduated Egyptian dentists' group regarding MIH condition and compare the outcome information among different dental specialists.
Material and methods: A google based questionnaire based on previously validated published papers distributed electronically …

Introduction: The prevention and control of caries requires the eradication of cariogenic microorganisms that produce acids responsible for reducing the pH and starting the demineralization process. With the increasing incidence of drug resistance in the prevalent pathogens and an associated risk with chemotherapeutic agents, it is essential to find an alternative to existing drugs.
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of neem extract and 2% chlorhexidine (CHX) as cavity disinfectants in the reduction of total viable count in Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) in children.
Subjects and Methods: The study included two test …
