Problem: Pediatric delirium is highly prevalent in the intensive care setting, as much as seventy to eighty-seven percent. Kalvas & Harrison (2020) found that sixty-six percent of critically ill children in a pediatric intensive care unit suffered from a diagnosis of delirium. Delirium has been widely linked with increased costs, mortality, and length of stay.

Nurse leaders are often promoted with little to no leadership development. Lack of development is a leading cause of turnover. Leadership development is crucial to retaining qualified leaders and the National Academy of Medicine identified that quality improvement (QI) competency development for nursing leaders is critical to improved healthcare. Problem: Inconsistent screening for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in primary care settings leads to fewer appropriate behavioral health (BH) referrals and may increase risk for and incidence of chronic health conditions.

Methods: This quality improvement (QI) project used a descriptive observational design with prospective and retrospective data collection. The CDC’s ACE screening tool was administered to patients 18 years and older presenting to primary care. Data collection included number of ACE screenings completed and the number of BH referrals made following the screening. Problem: Falls are one of the most frequently occurring safety events in hospitalized patients, resulting injuries that can be devastating and burdensome. Patients in neuro-telemetry unit are at greater risks for falls due to their conditions. Problem Ankyloglossia occurs when the tongue cannot extend past the gums or lips due to frenulum restriction. In breast feeding, proper movement of the tongue around the nipple is hindered causing difficulty for the infant to obtain a proper latch. This may result in slow weight gain (SWG), failure to thrive (FTT), and dehydration due to poor milk production. Problem: Colorectal cancer is the third most diagnosed cancer in the United States (Gu et al., 2019). A colonoscopy procedure is the best diagnostic tool to evaluate the colon for pre-cancerous and cancerous polyps (Dang et al., 2020). Inadequate bowel preparation decreases colon visualization where adenomatous colon lesions may be missed.

Introduction: Nurses are stressed due to the demands of their job. This study aims to determine whether MICU nurses at a large Midwestern hospital would have reduced stress and anxiety after a 30-day meditation and exercise intervention.

Design and Methods: A quasi-experimental pre-post pilot study design was adopted. The convenience sample consisted of eight Medicine Intensive Care Unit (MICU) nurses in a large Midwestern urban tertiary medical center. Data collected included demographics, pre- post-Beck Anxiety Inventory Scale (BAIS), pre- and post-Single Item Stress Scale (SISS), and weekly diaries on exercise and meditation.

An area of concern is the lack of women and infant departments that have a standardized approach for treatment of severe hypertension congruent with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommendations.

Women report significant barriers to obtaining hormonal contraception prescriptions, including difficulty scheduling clinician appointments, inconvenient clinic hours and desire to avoid pelvic examinations. To increase contraceptive access, states throughout the United States have and continue to pass legislation authorizing pharmacists to prescribe hormonal contraception, allowing women to initiate contraception directly at the pharmacy without involvement of a physician. BACKGROUND: The multicountry Women First trial demonstrated that nutritional supplementation initiated prior to conception (arm 1) or early pregnancy (arm 2) and continued until delivery resulted in significantly greater length at birth and 6 mo compared with infants in the control arm (arm 3).

OBJECTIVES: We evaluated intervention effects on infants' longitudinal growth trajectory from birth through 24 mo and identified predictors of length status and stunting at 24 mo.

Despite the popular use of dietary supplements during conventional cancer treatments, their impacts on the efficacies of prevalent immunotherapies, including immune-checkpoint therapy (ICT), are unknown. Surprisingly, our analyses of electronic health records revealed that ICT-treated patients with cancer who took vitamin E (VitE) had significantly improved survival. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused a dramatic loss of human life and devastated the worldwide economy. Numerous efforts have been made to mitigate COVID-19 symptoms and reduce the death rate. We conducted literature mining of more than 250 thousand published works and curated the 174 most widely used COVID-19 medications. Overlaid with the human protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, we used Steiner tree analysis to extract a core subnetwork that grew from the pharmacological targets of ten credible drugs ascertained by the CTD database.
