Effect Of Photorefractive Keratectomy Versus Laser In Situ Keratomileusis On Corneal Hysteresis In Moderate Myopic Eyes, Hussam Eldeen O. Elrashidy
Journal of Medicine in Scientific Research
Introduction Ablation procedures used for vision correction such as photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) or laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) flap creation produce massive changes within the corneal structure and biomechanical properties. These changes are due to thinning of the central cornea and disruption of continuity of the collagen lamellae. Several approaches to assessment of the biomechanical properties have been proposed. Refractive photoablation procedures that decrease corneal hysteresis (CH) and corneal resistance factor (CRF) have been shown by several studies; therefore, here in our study we are going to discuss the effect of PRK versus LASIK on the corneal biomechanics and stability …

Deep Inspiration And End Exhale Breathhold Evaluation For The Treatment Of Locally Advanced Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Using The Viewray Mridian Linactm, Tatum Mcglynn
Masters Projects
Introduction
Radiation therapy has been limited in the treatment of locally advanced pancreatic cancer. This is due to the dose tolerance to nearby organs at risk and breathing motion. Advancements in radiation treatment technology have now allowed pancreatic patients to be treated to higher doses in fewer fractions using stereotactic body radiotherapy treatment. With the use of MRI-guided treatments, using the ViewRay MRIdian linac, doses can be escalated using online adaptive treatment planning and real time tracking. However, there has yet to be an optimal breathhold technique investigated that can aid in this process.

Quantifying The Dosimetric Impact Of Target Margins In The Oligometastatic Setting, Jessica E. Strang
Quantifying The Dosimetric Impact Of Target Margins In The Oligometastatic Setting, Jessica E. Strang
Masters Projects
Introduction
With advancements in cancer treatment therapies, patients are living longer with oligometastatic disease. These patients may have multiple targets and may be treated in a single isocenter to reduce overall treatment time. However, the most considerable risk of treating multiple lesions in a single isocenter is a geometric miss. It can be challenging to perform daily alignment of multiple lesions creating a need to prioritize one lesion alignment over others or abort treatment.
Methods
This study quantified the dosimetric impact of total lung exposure as the planning target volume (PTV) margin incrementally increased for multiple intrathoracic lesions.
The analysis …

Master's Projects and Capstones
Perioperative registered nurses and anesthesiologists that rely on a process for placing regional anesthesia (R.A.) blocks on the correct side for surgical patients consistently provide high-quality, safe care. Infrequently anesthesiologists place the wrong side peripheral nerve blocks (P.N.B.). Due to the sensitive nature of sentinel events, the frequency of its occurrence at this quality improvement (Q.I.) project site is unavailable. Therefore, a report by Harris et al. (2021) was referenced for the incidence of wrong side blocks (W.S.B.), which were recorded in worldwide, national, and multihospital health care system cohorts as 3.63/10,000, 1.6/10,000, and 1.28/10,000 respectively. The PreOp/PACU nursing staff …

Methods: COMPLETE was a prospective, international registry that enrolled patients from July 2018 to October 2019, with a 90-day follow-up period that was completed in January 2020. Imaging findings and safety events were adjudicated …
Myc Sensitises Cells To Apoptosis By Driving Energetic Demand, Joy Edwards-Hicks, Kevin Cho, Gary J Patti, Et Al
Myc Sensitises Cells To Apoptosis By Driving Energetic Demand, Joy Edwards-Hicks, Kevin Cho, Gary J Patti, Et Al
2020-Current year OA Pubs
The MYC oncogene is a potent driver of growth and proliferation but also sensitises cells to apoptosis, which limits its oncogenic potential. MYC induces several biosynthetic programmes and primary cells overexpressing MYC are highly sensitive to glutamine withdrawal suggesting that MYC-induced sensitisation to apoptosis may be due to imbalance of metabolic/energetic supply and demand. Here we show that MYC elevates global transcription and translation, even in the absence of glutamine, revealing metabolic demand without corresponding supply. Glutamine withdrawal from MRC-5 fibroblasts depletes key tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle metabolites and, in combination with MYC activation, leads to AMP accumulation and nucleotide …
