ACL reconstruction often results in an extended period of muscle atrophy and weakness. Blood flow restriction (BFR) training is a technique that has been shown to decrease muscle atrophy in a variety of populations.

Purpose:

The purpose of this systematic review was to analyze the research presented on the effect of blood flow restriction training on quadriceps muscle atrophy and circumference post ACL reconstruction.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to describe a quality improvement project to develop and implement a purposeful rounding protocol to improve patient satisfaction and call light rates which affect both patient and nursing staff satisfaction in the emergency department (ED). Importantly, patient satisfaction scores in the ED tend to be low but high scores are related to improved competitive advantage, reimbursement rate, patient outcomes, and nursing staff interruptions.

This is due in large part to the presence of chemo-resistant cancer stem cells (CSCs) that contribute to tumor propagation, maintenance, and treatment resistance. We previously reported that patients with ABSSSI discharged to receive dalbavancin showed a decreased length of stay (LOS) and total direct costs without increasing 30-day readmission rate. For patients who are financially eligible, a dalbavancin vial replacement program can offset costs. The indication for surgical treatment of these fractures has changed over time, and several techniques have been developed with different results in the attempt to avoid the most worrisome adverse event, i.e., facial nerve injury. This study aimed to explore the phytoconstituents of Agonis flexuosa, F. Myrtaceae and its biological activity. A thorough phytochemical investigation of its leaves led to the isolation of one new stilbene glycoside; (Z)-2,3-dihydroxystilbene-5-O-β-D-glucoside (1), and fifteen known compounds identified as two stilbenes: (Z)-pinosylvin mono methyl ether (2) and (Z)-pinosylvin-3-O-β-D-glucoside (3); six flavanones: (2S)-pinostrobin (4), (2S)-strobopinin (5), (2S)-cryptostobin (6), (2S)-pinocembrin (7), (2S)-dimethylpinocembrin (8) and (2S)-dimethylstrobopinin (9); four flavonoids: quercetin (10), kaempferol-7-O-β-D-glucoside (11), quercetin-3-O-α-D-rhamnoside (12) and quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucoside (13), α-terpineol (14), β-sitosterol (15) and gallic acid (16). Complex, high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (HR-PCI) is increasingly being performed, often with mechanical circulatory support (MCS), though to date, there are limited randomised data on the efficacy of MCS for HR-PCI. The majority of MCS is provided by intra-aortic balloon pumps, but increasingly Impella® (Abiomed, Danvers, MA, USA) heart pumps are being used. While the Impella pumps provide greater increases in cardiac output, these devices require large bore access, which has been associated with an increased risk of bleeding and vascular complications. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of a novel “floatation-restricted environmental stimulation therapy” (floatation-REST) on growth hormone responses to an intense resistance exercise stress.

Design

Nine resistance trained men (age: 23.4 ± 2.5 yrs.; height: 175.3 ± 5.4 cm; body mass: 85.3 ± 7.9 kg) completed a balanced, crossover-controlled study design with two identical exercise trials, differing only in post-exercise recovery intervention (i.e., control or floatation-REST). Why: Interactive way to increase awareness of portion control and appropriate nutrition in an effort to build autonomy in elementary and middle school age children.

Problem Solved: Research indicates that young children are highly susceptible to overeating when given larger portion sizes, eating about 16% more. iEAT addresses proper portion control sizes pertinent to the child’s age.
