The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of pH changes and SSC margin trimming on nickel release in artificial saliva solution. Methods: A total of 90 SSCs were divided into three groups and placed in 35 ml of artificial saliva of pH 6.8, 5, and 3.5. The purpose of this study was to ascertain if repeated stresses from extension cycling would result in accumulated damage in aligner materials and affect force delivery. A secondary goal was to identify potential differences in mechanical behavior present among orthodontic aligner polymers. Four thermoplastic polymers (Essix ACE, Taglus, Zendura, and Zendura FLX) were thermoformed, cut into strips, and extension cycled to 0.4 millimeters in a 37C water bath. Granular Cell Tumours (GCTs) are rare subepithelial lesions that are believed to develop from Schwann cells and are characterized by large polygonal cells with abundant lysosomes. Pilot studies from our laboratory showing unexpected HLA-DR immunoreactivity in GCTs lead us to hypothesize that GCTs have an antigen presenting cell (APC) phenotype.

To test our hypothesis, we assessed immunoreactivity of GCT lesions to APC phenotype markers, including CD68, HLA-DR, CD163, CD40 and CD11c. An adult woman suffered moderate complications of cranio-facial microsomia (CFM) with different severity on both sides of the face. This anomaly leads to short ramal height, condylar pathology, chin deviation and facial asymmetry. The malformed dental arch, open bite and severe canting of the occlusal plane were the reasons for the patient to request the therapy. Orthodontic treatment was performed with pre-adjusted edgewise system assisted by temporal anchorage devices (TADs). These modalities were executed through leveling of the occlusal plane. The improvement was noticed for both better oral function and esthetics.

In this work, graphite/gold nanoparticles (G/AuNPs) were synthesized through a facile chemical method, and its potential application for direct protein attachment for electrochemical detection of carbon monoxide (CO) was investigated. The preparation of G/AuNPs electrodes was optimized by synthesizing the nanoparticles in different concentration of HAuCl₄.3H₂O at various temperatures. The G/AuNPs electrode was subsequently modified by four types of mercaptopropionic acid, including 1-mercaptopropionic, 3-mercaptopropionic, 6-mercaptopropionic, and 11-mercaptopropionic acid, to achieve the best structure for protein attachment.
