The study was carried out to investigate the possibilities of obtaining slaughtered kids using indigenous breeds in Saanen flocks, which does not require breeding. The birth weights were 3.22 kg, 3.05 kg, and 3.18 kg for the Saanen, Turkish Hair × Saanen (F$_{1}$), and Honamlı × Saanen (F$_{1}$) crossbred kids, respectively. The mean live weight values of the same genotypes at the end of fattening (146th day) were determined as 25.96 kg, 27.11 kg, and 29.57 kg for the male kids, respectively. This study was performed to evaluate the oxidative stress in calves with enzootic pneumonia. Ninety calves that were 2?6 months old were used in this study. Ten of these calves were healthy and used as the control group, while 80 were diagnosed with enzootic pneumonia according to the clinical examinations. The biochemical results showed that total oxidant status (TOS), nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA), and sialic acid (SA) levels were higher in calves with enzootic pneumonia than in the control group. The main purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of consumers' consciousness levels through their perception levels on purchase intention towards organic chicken meat. While consciousness levels of organic chicken meat were handled in terms of animal welfare awareness and health, perception levels were dealt with in terms of food safety, price, and benefit. Artificial light, in terms of its intensity and color, is of significant importance for the performance of laying hens. In this study, the efforts were made to evaluate the effect of different light-emitting diode (LED)-based light colors on production performance, welfare, and egg quality attributes of Lohmann LSL lite hens in an open-sided house. The utilization of low-input paddy straw hay (PSH) for fattening lambs should be incorporated with a high-quality concentrate (HQC) in which green tea dust (GTD) rich in tannins can be added as a natural feed additive. The aim of this study was to obtain morphometric data by applying geometric analysis to the neurocranium of the turkey and to statistically reveal the differences between males and females using these data. This study was undertaken to investigate the changes in the microbiological and sensorial attributes of fresh chicken carcasses immersed in decontamination solutions, followed by packaging in plastic bags in which decontamination solution was added during storage at 4 °C. The samples were taken on days 0, 3, 7, and 10 for microbiological and sensory attributes. Results showed that there was a limited antimicrobial effect on microbial flora in the treatment groups within the first 3 days of storage compared to the control group. Osteopontin gene (OPN) is located in the quantitative trait loci (QTL) for milk production traits in bovine chromosome 6. In the present study the impact of cytosine to thymine transition in the intron-4 of OPN gene (g.8514C > T) on milk production traits was analysed in the Holstein Friesian crossbred cattle of Kerala. Genomic DNA was isolated and a fragment of 290 bp enclosing the polymorphic site was amplified and genotyped by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) using endonuclease, BSeN1. The main cause of larva migrans syndrome (LMS) in humans is represented by Toxocara spp. found in dogs and cats. In the present study, the effects of three disinfectants based on quaternary ammonium compounds (Kohrsolin® FF, Trioton$^{®}$ rapid AF and Terralin$^{®}$ protect) and one based on propanol and ethanol (Bacillol$^{®}$), against Toxocaracanis and Toxocaracati eggs, were tested. The objective of this study was to detect Mycoplasma bovis specific antibodies using a recently reported MilA ELISA with the aim to detect M. bovis antibodies in milk. An indirect ELISA, based on a recombinant fragment of the Mycoplasma immunogenic lipase A (MilA) protein, was conducted on 291 milk samples for the detection of M. bovis antibodies. Aims: To establish the impact of uncomplicated type 2 diabetes on cognitive and neuropsychological performance in midlife. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study of middle-aged adults with uncomplicated type 2 diabetes and a cohort of healthy control participants. General cognition was assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment test and neuropsychological assessment was undertaken using a detailed neuropsychological assessment battery. In genomic studies, complex traits can be modelled using repeated measures, thereby gaining a better understanding of the underlying biology. An increased number of measurements per individual might reduce measurement noise, thus increasing the likelihood of detecting true genomic signals. Here we aimed to predict genomic signals over a logistic curve referring to multiple underlying genetic architectures, for both simulated and longitudinal egg weight datasets. Herbal Feed Additives Containing Tannins: Impact On In Vitro Fermentation And Methanemitigation From Total Mixed Ration, Manju Wadhwa, Prabh Kaur Sidhu, Mohinder Pal Singh Bakshi

Total mixed ration (TMR) containing roughage and concentrate mixture in a 65: 35 ratio on dry matter (DM) basis was supplemented with herbal feed additives [(HFAs); Acacia catechu (Katha), Areca catechu (Supari), and Acacia nilotica (Babul)] at 0-4% on DM basis to assess their impact on fermentation pattern and methane production by using in vitro gas production technique. Areca catechu had the highest (P < 0.01) concentration of condensed tannins (CTs), saponins, and vitamin C as compared to other HFAs. The net gas production (NGP), digestibility of NDF and true OM, and ME availability, partitioning factor (PF), volatile fatty acids (VFAs), and microbial biomass production were higher (P < 0.01) at 24 h as compared to t-half incubation, irrespective of type and level of HFAs supplemented. Acacia nilotica had an edge over Acacia catechu with respect to digestibility of nutrients and ME availability. VFAs production and efficiency of rumen fermentation was the highest from the Areca catechu-supplemented TMR. Irrespective of type of HFAs and incubation period, the digestibility of NDF and that of true OM were highest (P < 0.01) at the 1% level of supplementation, but depressed thereafter. Amongst HFAs-supplemented groups, VFA production and fermentation efficiency were highest at the 2% level. The results conclusively revealed that supplementing Areca catechu and Acacia nilotica at 2% of TMR (DM basis) inhibited the methane production, without affecting the fermentation pattern.

In this study, blood samples collected from dromedary camels in the Algerian provinces of Laghouat and Ghardaia, which were kept in the same pastures and in the same herds with sheep and goats, were examined to detect antibodies to the Bluetongue (BT) and Akabane (AKA) viruses using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and serum neutralization tests, respectively. Overall, 16 (14.4%) and 2 (1.8%) of 111 tested camel serum samples were seropositive for the BT virus (BTV) and the AKA virus (AKAV), respectively. The objective of this study was to evaluate the long-term outcomes in dogs with cranial cruciate ligament injury in which the stifle was stabilized with lateral suture stabilization, lateral suture stabilization-modified, or Securos lateral bone anchor tibial suture and monofilament nylon sutures placed at quasi-isometric points of the stifle. It is a retrospective study comprising a sample population of 49 client-owned dogs. Cows were treated with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in a single dose and then subjected to ovum pick-up (OPU) for evaluation of oocyte recovery and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Cows underwent OPU followed by application of FSH (200 mg) on day 2 and new OPU on day 3. This methodology was repeated 3 times sequentially. In FSH-free the cows (control), OPU was performed at intervals of one week. The number of oocytes recovered was higher in the control cows (22.2 ± 1.5) compared to the treated cows (16.9 ± 1.4; P < 0.05). The purpose of this study was to highlight the effects of natural plant essential oils (EOs) on sous-vide sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) fillets. Three different treatments were prepared by addition of: 1) no essential oil (C), 2) laurel (Laurus nobilis) EO (L), and 3) basil (Ocimum basilicum) EO (B). In general, incorporation of the EOs did not cause significant changes in the proximate composition (P > 0.05). The addition of L caused a darker and more greenish-yellow colour, while addition of B did not have a considerable alteration in colour parameters. A male mixed breed street dog (age unknown) presented with an ocular mass and multiple ulcerated subcutaneous nodules on both hind limbs which bled easily when touched. Inspection of the genital organs revealed that no masses were present. The ocular mass and nodules were diagnosed as a transmissible venereal tumor (TVT) by fine-needle aspiration cytology. The total remission of the tumor was achieved after 5 applications of vincristine sulfate. Despite extensive research on the reproductive health of domestic animals, embryonic mortality continues to be a problem that brings about significant losses for both commercial breeding and scientific research. This review paper discusses the genetic and environmental factors that affect embryo mortality rates in sheep along with the different techniques developed to overcome this issue. Additionally, one of the objectives of this study is to emphasize the importance of the use of time-lapse cinematography and color Doppler ultrasonography as quick and reliable methods for early detection of pregnancy and embryonic death.
