Incivility In Nursing Education: An Intervention, Ruthanne Palumbo
Nursing Theses and Capstone Projects
Incivility in nursing education is an unfortunate phenomenon affecting nursing students. in all aspects of their educational experience. Students and their instructors are often ill equipped to deal with academic incivility and their lack of ability to handle such behaviors has proven detrimental to the future of the nursing profession. Nursing instructors need tools to help educate nursing students on how to recognize uncivil behaviors within themselves as well as others and ways to combat it. This Capstone Project addressed these aspects of academic incivility and implemented an e-learning module that was developed to educate students on incivility. The data …
Sleep Hygiene Program For Night Shift Workers, Dale Wicker
Sleep Hygiene Program For Night Shift Workers, Dale Wicker
Nursing Theses and Capstone Projects
Sleep is vital to health and wellbeing. Service professionals such as nurses, firefighters, and police officers, historically have worked in shifts requiring around the clock coverage. Now, many companies are following similar strategies with working employees in 12 hour or 8 hour shifts including night shift. Night shift workers must adjust to sleeping during the daytime by combating their normal circadian regulatory system. Maladaptation to daytime sleep can affect overall sleep time and poorer sleep quality. Shift Work Disorder is a medical condition where employees struggle with chronic sleep deprivation that can lead to other health problems. Employee health clinics …

The Mediational Effect Of Emotional Regulation On The Relationship Between Attachment Styles Of Sexual Behaviors, Angelica Monique Zapata
Graduate Theses
Recent research studies have been aimed at examining the associations between attachment styles and sexual protective health behaviors (Mikulincer, Shavpr & Pereg, 2003). However, researchers have just recently started to explore how emotional regulation skills influence interactions between couples. The current study is interested m how emotional regulation is connected to attachment style and sexual health attitudes and behaviors. The proposed study utilizes attachment style to explain how individuals view others, which then may influence their sexual health behaviors. Furthermore, when an individual possesses high emotional regulation skills, they may be better able to mediate ones’ own decisions to influence …

20-Hydroxyeicosatetraeonic acid (20-HETE) produced by cytochrome P-450 monooxygenases in NADPH-dependent manner is proinflammatory, and it contributes to the pathogenesis of systemic and pulmonary hypertension. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that inhibition of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), a major source of NADPH in the cell, prevents 20-HETE synthesis and 20-HETE-induced proinflammatory signaling that promotes secretory phenotype of vascular smooth muscle cells. Lipidomic analysis indicated that G6PD inhibition and knockdown decreased 20-HETE levels in pulmonary arteries as well as 20-HETE-induced 1) mitochondrial superoxide production, 2) activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase 1 and 3, 3) phosphorylation of ETS domain-containing protein Elk-1 that …

The paranasal sinuses are composed of a set of structures of the maxillofacial region and its proximity to the oral cavity. The sphenoid sinus is located within the body of the sphenoid bone. However, an excessive pneumatization of this structure may cause difficulties in radiographic diagnosis, particularly with panoramic radiographs. This article describes a case of pneumatization of the sphenoid sinus in the pterygoid process and greater wing of the sphenoid bone, presented on a panoramic radiograph. Cone beam computed tomography in axial and coronal sections was performed to confirm the pneumatization of these structures.

Neurocalcin ẟ Response To Calcium: Which Ef Hand Matters The Most?, Trokon Fiawoo
Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Theses and Dissertations
Changes in intracellular calcium levels play a very important role in cell signaling, in turn, affecting neuronal functions such as memory, learning and cell death. A class of proteins called Neuronal Calcium Sensor (NCS) proteins serves to modulate the functioning of the neuronal cells in response to changes in calcium levels. Structurally, all NCS proteins have 4 calcium-binding EF hand motifs, although EF I does not bind to calcium in many members. All NCS proteins are myristoylated at the N-terminus. Neurocalcin delta (NCALD) is an NCS protein, and shares 95% similarity in primary amino acid sequence with another major NCS …

The Effects Of The Fifa 11+ Warm Up Program In Female Collegiate Soccer Athletes, Stacey O’Neill
Graduate Theses
As of 2010 there were over 265 million registered soccer athletes worldwide, and in particular, the number of women players were rapidly increasing (Soligard, et al., (2010). Consequently, playing soccer accounts for approximately one quarter of all injuries in sport, and due to its nature of jumping, pivoting and cross-cutting, the majority of these are non-contact, lower extremity injuries. Therefore, playing soccer entails a substantial amount of injury risk for its participants. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the FIFA 11+ Warm Up Program in collegiate female soccer athletes.
