This study examined the effect of intervention involving a humanoid robot on challenging or tantrum behaviors of four children with low-functioning autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The current work was part of a larger study involving the effect of the robot on functional communication skills on a variety of different interactions with different communication partners. All participants took part in a single-subject, multiple-baseline design with various session types including baseline, traditional play-based treatment, treatment including the robot, and follow-up sessions. The purpose of this study was to compare changes in acoustic and kinematic measures of articulation across soft, comfortable, and loud speech conditions. There were 19 participants, 9 male and 10 female, with age ranging from 20 to 34 with a median age of 25. Each participant had electromagnetic sensors glued to their tongue, jaw, and lips. It was anticipated that the acoustic measures would accurately reflect the kinematic measures of speech as articulation changed across the intensity levels. PG600 is a synthetic gonadotropin comprising 400 IU equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) and 200 IU human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Major responsibilities of PG600 were to stimulate follicle growth and induce ovulation. In replacement gilts, a number of large follicles were found after PG600 treatment. Nevertheless, the number of good quality follicles was not different between treatment and control gilts. In primiparous sows, the number of those returning to estrus within 10 days after weaning from PG600 were higher than those in control group. The aim of the present study was to develop enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and serum plate agglutination (SPA) for detecting antibodies of Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG), using a Thai isolated field strain. MG isolation and identification was performed using conventional culture method, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The growth characteristics of each strain were analyzed to determine the most appropriate conditions for the cultivation of MG. Ixodid ticks transmit many pathogens to both animals and humans. This study was carried out to detect tick-borne protozoa (Theileria and Babesia) in ticks collected from cattle in the buffer zone of Sai Yok National Park, Thailand. A total of 30 cattle were examined for tick infestation. Of these, 10 (33.3%) were infested with ticks. A total of 85 ticks were collected and identified as Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus. Our aim is to compare the effect of warm water infusion and air infusion enteroscopy on the success rate of colonoscopy in a rat model of colorectal cancer. 60 rats with colorectal cancer were divided into 2 groups: the air infusion (AI) group taking air infusion enteroscopy and the warm water infusion (WWI) group taking warm water infusion enteroscopy. Successful treatment of Microsporum canis infection in a 8 - year – old, male Thai - mixed breed cat using a fungal vaccine containing inactivated M. canis by 3 subcutaneously injection 14 days apart was reported. A reduction of the lesions and hair regrowth had improved by day 14 after the first injection. There were no adverse effects in the cat during the entire treatment. The results of this study indicate that an inactivated M. canis vaccine may be effective therapy for M. canis infection.

Cathelicidin in milk was reported as a possible protein marker for the assessment of the severity of subclinical mastitis. We hypothesized that cathelicidin would be elevated in the mastitic milk of the Streptococcus agalactiae-subclinical mastitis and the elevation of cathelicidin may be related to somatic cell count (SCC). Western blot was used to determine the amount of cathelicidin to differentiate between normal milk and S. agalactiae subclinical mastitic milk. The correlation between amount of cathelicidin and the SCC was also determined. We found that S. agalactiae subclinical mastitis induced cathelicidin expression in milk. A 34-year-old woman presented with recurrent attacks of breathlessness and seizures. The patient's condition worsened during the course of her hospital stay, as a result of which she had to be intubated twice. Radiological studies showed a mass in the trachea and the subsequent biopsy of the mass revealed an infiltrating carcinoma with morphological features of adenoid cystic carcinoma.

The late-life developmental process of self-transcendence shapes elders’ perspectives on self, others, the nature of this world, and of a dimension beyond the here and now. This qualitative pilot study evaluated the Psychoeducational Approach to Transcendence and Health (PATH) Program, a psychoeducational intervention to promote self-transcendence and well-being in community-dwelling women at a senior center. The intervention involved eight weekly group sessions using group processes, mindfulness practices, creative experiences, and independent at-home practice. The findings supported the underlying theory-based structure and content of the intervention and indicated the intervention may empower elders to attend to self-care, develop acceptance, and learn …

Pakistan ranks third lowest on a global gender index (2013) and 13(th) highest on the prevalence of underweight among under-five children (2010). Through this population-based study, we examined gender differentials in the prevalence of stunting, wasting and under-weight defined by World Health Organization (WHO) Growth Standard among rural pre-school Pakistani children.

We performed secondary analysis of data collected through a cross-sectional survey of Thatta district during 1992-93. Collagen makes up a large proportion of the human body, particularly the skin. As the body ages, collagen content decreases, resulting in wrinkled skin and decreased wound healing capabilities. This paper presents a method of delivering type I collagen into porcine and human skin utilizing a polyvinylpyrrolidone microneedle delivery system. The microneedle patches were made with concentrations of 1, 2, 4, and 8% type I collagen (w/w). The pedicle is known to be the second weakest point of the vertebra, has a short moment arm from the vertebral body, and can resist a large amount of cyclic shear forces. The main causes of lumbar pedicle stress fractures are shear stress and twisting stressors, followed by sudden hyperflexion or hyperextension of the spine. Subacromial impingement syndrome is a musculoskeletal condition characterized by shoulder pain and altered glenohumeral kinematics. Conservative treatment can include physical therapy and corticosteroid injections. Surgical option includes subacromial decompression (SAD). Most patients who undergo SAD are approximately 50-60 years old. There is little to no evidence regarding rehabilitation of young, healthy individuals following SAD. The purpose of this case report was to investigate the conservative protocol of a young, healthy gymnast who underwent SAD and rotator cuff [RC] surgery.
