Although research supports the use of whole-body vibration (WBV) to improve neuromuscular performance, the mechanisms for these improvements remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect ofWBV on the spectral properties of electrically evoked H-reflex recordings in the soleus (SOL) muscle. The H-reflex recordings were measured in the SOL muscle of 20 participants before and after a bout of WBV. The H-reflexes were evoked every 15 seconds for 150 seconds after WBV. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlations between biomechanical outcome measures and weightlifting performance. Joint kinematics and kinetics of the hip, knee, and ankle were calculated while 10 subjects performed a clean at 85% of 1 repetition maximum (1RM). Kinematic and kinetic time-series patterns were extracted with principal components analysis. Discrete scores for each time-series pattern were calculated and used to determine how each pattern was related to body mass–normalized 1RM. The population of American elders is increasing rapidly and relocation to retirement communities has been found to adversely affect their adjustment. This pilot study of 38 relocated elders evaluated, from elders’ perspectives, six critical parameters of a resourcefulness training (RT) intervention designed to help elders adjust to relocation. Within the context of Zauszniewski's theory of resourcefulness, a pre-/post-test design with random assignment to RT or to diversionary activities (DA) was used. This study attempted to answer the question, "Do nurses perceive coping kits to be effective at meeting the needs of hospitalized children with developmental disabilities who are at increased risk for challenging behaviors?" A cross-sectional post-test survey study design was used, with a convenience sample of 24 registered nurses at a Midwestern free-standing children's hospital. OBJECTIVE: The study objective was to identify factors associated with death and cardiac transplantation in infants undergoing the Norwood procedure and to determine differences in associations that might favor the modified Blalock-Taussig shunt or a right ventricle-to-pulmonary artery shunt.

METHODS: We used competing risks methodology to analyze death without transplantation, cardiac transplantation, and survival without transplantation. Parametric time-to-event modeling and bootstrapping were used to identify independent predictors.

Giant cell reparative granuloma (GCRG) is an uncommon non‑neoplastic reactive tumor which occurs almost exclusively within the mandible and maxilla. GCRG of the temporal bone is a rare condition. It has been found to affect predominantly adolescents and adults (age: 10‑25 years). We report a case of a 62‑year‑old male with GCRG of left temporal bone who presented to us with progressive left temporal swelling for 3 months. It was associated with hearing loss. Early Selection According To Repeatability Of Body Measurements Of Turkish Arabian Foals, Süleyman Çilek

In this study, body measurements of Turkish Arabian foals at different ages was obtained from Anadolustate farm in Turkey which included body length, cannon bone circumference, heart girth and withers heightmeasurements. Effects of sex, birth month, birth year and age of foal at different growth periods on withers height,body length, heart girth and cannon bone circumference were significant (p<0.05). Effects of environmental factors onall body measurements were standardized additively. Using intra-class correlation method, repeatability was 0.55 forwither height, 0.47 for heart girth, 0.26 for cannon bone circumference for forelimb and 0.31 for body length.According to moderate level results of repeatability for especially heart girth and wither height measurements,selection of Turkish Arabian foals may be conducted at an early age according to body measurements at 6 months ofage.

Data of purebred Landrace, Large White and their crossbreds taken from a commercial swine farm locatedin the north-eastern part of Thailand were used to evaluate the genetic associations of stillbirth with the total numberof piglets born and gestation length. The analyses were base on 28,275 litters born from 2002 to 2006. Analysis wascarried out with a multivariate animal model using average information REML procedures. Heritability estimates forstillbirth, the total number of piglets born and gestation length were 0.03±0.01, 0.03±0.01 and 0.16±0.01, respectively.The genetic correlation between the total number of piglets born and stillbirth was positive. The purpose of this study is to detect Babesia canis by using 18S rDNA amplification in order to confirm thepresence of the agents and to characterize molecularly the Thai B. canis. Three sets of primers, a Babesia canis-specificprimer (BcSP), Piroplasm-specific primer (PSP) and Babesia species-specific primer (BsSP), were tested for sensitivity.The results showed that BcSP and PSP were 50 times more sensitive than BsSP. Both BcSP and PSP were specificenough to detect this parasite in asymptomatic dogs. This study aimed to determine seasonal dengue infection rates in Ae. aegypti mosquitoes and dengueinfection in suspected patients in 4 central provinces of Thailand. Ae. aegypti mosquitoes collected during threeseasons and blood specimens taken from patients with suspected dengue were detected and serotyped for dengueviruses using RT-PCR. The biting behavior of Ae. aegypti females was studied by 24-hour mosquitoes collection once amonth using human bait for determination of seasonal biting rate. Introduction. To evaluate the efficacy of epoetin-α prior to revision total knee arthroplasty, we hypothesized that epoetin-α will reduce blood transfusion. Methods. Eighty-one patients were compared in this retrospective review; twenty-eight patients received our dosing regimen. All patients were mildly anemic. Epoetin-α to control (1 : 2) patient matching occurred so that one of two attending surgeons, gender, BMI, complexity of surgery, ASA score, and age were similar between groups. The clinical triggers for blood transfusion during or after the procedure were determined based on peri- and postoperative hemoglobin levels, ASA score, and/or clinical symptoms consistent with anemia. Although neosporosis has long been detected in several wildlife species from different parts of the world,until now there has been no report of Neospora caninum infection in elephants in any country of the world. Serumsamples of 115 captive elephant (Elephas maximus indicus) from the westernmost province of Kanchanaburi, Thailandwere investigated for antibodies to N. caninum and Toxoplasma gondii. Antibodies of N. caninum were detected by thecompetitive ELISA (cELISA) test and T.gondii by the Latex agglutination (LAT) test. This study uses nationally representative data to explain the variation in physical activity among U.S. adults across four geographic regions of Northeast, Midwest, South, and West. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether environmental conditions inclusive of natural amenity, built environment, urbanization, crime, and social economic neighborhood are associated with physical activity and whether these associations are modified by geographic region. The study also investigates whether the influences of environmental contexts vary by subgroup and whether they are modified by geographic region. Determining regional factors that influence physical activity is essential to planning appropriate physical activity interventions.

Creating a "mobbing-safe" working environment can be a real challenge; to achieve it, a better understanding of related constructs is necessary. To obtain insight into researchers' attitudes toward workplace mobbing and behavioural intentions, we used a case scenario method. The results show that respondents, on average, consider the mobbing cases presented in a questionnaire to be very serious. Their attitudes and behavioural intentions depend more on their opinion about colleagues' attitudes and related intentions and less on their own, which shows a lower integrity than desired. This cross-sectional study was introduced to determine the risk factors of subclinical mastitis in dairy farms. Sixteen small holder farms and 285 milking cows in Khon Kaen province were selected for the study. The mastitis investigation, feeding information and clinical inspection were applied in the farm visits. Milk samples from each quarter with a CMT score of 3 and bulk milk were collected for bacterial identification and somatic cell counts. The purpose of the present study was to investigate theinfluence of intracellular glutamine status on amino acid uptake activity in placental choriocarcinoma (BeWo) cells,analogous to normal placental trophoblasts.
