Assisted Reproduction Techniques In Horses: The Challenge, Theerawat Tharasanit, Mongkol Techakumphu

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Assisted reproduction techniques (ARTs), such as artificial insemination and embryo transfer are well established and have been used in a wide range of species. To date, the economic impact of these ARTs in horses has rapidly increased. While many studies have attempted to improve the efficiency of ARTs, overall success remains relatively restricted due principally to a limited knowledge of the unique reproductive physiology of this species. Improving efficiency of particular techniques has become an affordable milestone in the development of ARTs in equine reproduction.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to compare the percentage degree of cure (%DC) of orthodontic adhesive resins irradiated with 3 types of light sources of various intensities: plasma arc, halogen, and light-emitting diode (LED). Methods: Twenty maxillary incisor stainless steel brackets (0.018-in slot) were divided into 4 groups of 5 brackets each. A standardized amount of composite resin was applied to each bracket base, simulating its clinical application. Root fractures involve damage to pulp, cementum, dentin, and periodontal ligaments. These injuries affect 0.5% to 7% of permanent teeth. Cervical root fractures are less frequently seen and have a worse prognosis compared with the fractures in the apical or middle third of the root. This case report describes the treatment of a cervical root fracture in a maxillary central incisor. After removal of the coronal fragment, the root was filled temporarily with calcium hydroxide and orthodontic extrusion was initiated. Conditioned stimulus pathway protein 24 (Csp24) is a beta-thymosin-like protein that is homologous to other members of the family of beta-thymosin repeat proteins that contain multiple actin binding domains. Actin co-precipitates with Csp24 and co-localizes with it in the cytosol of type-B photoreceptor cell bodies. Several signal transduction pathways have been shown to regulate the phosphorylation of Csp24 and contribute to cellular plasticity. Here, we report the identification of the adapter protein 14-3-3 in lysates of the Hermissenda circumesophageal nervous system and its interaction with Csp24. This study examined stimulus–response properties of somatosensory receptors on the head of rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, using extracellular recording from single cells in the trigeminal ganglion. Of 121 receptors recorded from 39 fish, 17 were polymodal nociceptors, 22 were mechanothermal nociceptors, 18 were mechanochemical receptors, 33 were fast adapting mechanical receptors and 31 were slowly adapting mechanical receptors. Mechanical thresholds were higher in polymodal nociceptors than in either slowly adapting or fast adapting mechanical receptors, whereas thermal thresholds of mechanothermal nociceptors were higher than those of polymodal nociceptors. Angka penyalahgunaan narkoba di Indonesia dari tahun ke tahun makin meningkat, Sampai kini tercatat 1,5% atau 3,2 juta penduduk Indonesia merupakan pengguna narkoba. Penyalahguna narkoba terbesar berdasarkan pekerjaan adalah wiraswasta dan pengangguran. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan penyalahgunaan narkoba pada pekerja. Desain pada penelitian ini adalah krosseksional dengan sumber data sekunder survei BPS tahun 2004. Besar sample adalah 8000 pekerja yang berkunjung ke tempat hiburan di Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, Semarang, Yogjakarta, Palembang, Balikpapan, Kendari, Manado, Makasar, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palangkaraya dan Mataram yang dipilih di tempat hiburan secara konsekutif. Ramalan Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change tahun 1996 menyebutkan insidens DBD di Indonesia dapat meningkat tiga kali lipat pada tahun 2070. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk membuat model dinamika sistem dengan analisis ekologi untuk mengetahui dinamika kejadian DBD dalam kaitan dengan pola variablitas iklim di DKI Jakarta. Phosphorylation of endogenous inhibitor proteins specific for type-1 Ser/Thr phosphatase (PP1) provides a mechanism for reciprocal coordination of kinase and phosphatase activities. Phosphorylation of Thr38 in the inhibitor protein CPI-17 transduces G-protein-mediated signaling into a > 1000-fold increase of inhibitory potency toward myosin phosphatase. We show here the solution NMR structure of phospho-T38-CPI-17 with r. m. s. d. of 0.36 ± 0.06 Å for the backbone secondary structure, which reveals how phosphorylation triggers a conformational change and exposes the PP1 inhibitory surface. This active conformation is stabilized by the formation of a hydrophobic core of intercalated side-chains, which is not formed …

Cattle are an important reservoir of E. coli O157:H7, in which the organism colonizes the intestinal tract and is shed in the feces. The present invention provides novel isolated nucleic acids encoding antigenic proteins derived from Sarcocystis neurona, or unique fragments thereof. In particular, the invention provides novel isolated nucleic acids encoding membrane-associated polypeptides SnSAG2, SnSAG3, and SnSAG4. Also provided are purified antigenic polypeptide fragments encoded by the novel nucleic acid sequences set forth herein that encode for SnSAG2, SnSAG3, and SnSAG4. Also provided are isolated nucleic acids capable of selectively hybridizing with the nucleic acid from Sarcocystis neurona.
